Labour Room Drama 174

Drama at home....

Stella well done o.

My second pregnancy was stressful. Compared to my first, I would say the first was a walk in the park.
Morning sickness was heightened and my mouth was always bitter for the first 4-5 months. I had to combat it by permanently having bitter kola stuck at the side of my mouth.

I was working, had a two year old to take care of, and house logistics.

However, my pregnancy progressed without any hitches.
I went for my antenatal regularly but didn't take the routine drugs given. Those drugs always made me throw up, so I avoided it and any other drug.

The last antenatal I had before I put to birth, the doctor said there was sugar in my blood, that I should run a test and bring the result in my next appointment in 2 weeks time.
I told him that before the next date he wrote on my card, I would have put to birth, and don't see the need for running the test.

The day before I put to birth, my daughter had stressed me out with talking and picking up after her.
When my husband came back and asked me how far., I told him all my body was aching and I needed to rest my bones.

I went to bed and slept through the night. Woke up in the morning by past 5am, and was feeling all good like someone who had a needed rest.
I got up and sat on the bed, about to go and pray, when I felt a little pain cut across my abdomen. I told my husband what I felt, and it happened a second time.

The next thing was that I felt like pooing so I went to the toilet and sat there. It took a while before the poo came out. When I came out, decided to bath at once, by now I started having serious contractions. I just managed to hurriedly bath and put on my cloth.

My hospital bag has always been in the car. While this was going on, my husband was smiling and saying it's time, and I asked him do you think this is funny.

The drive from the house to the hospital, I was in pain all through, I could hardly sit. Thank God the road was free that early morning.

Got to the hospital, and went to the labour room. My husband went to get my file.
The nurses started.... madam we are seeing all the drama you are doing, but get your file for us so we know where to start. I told them my husband is bringing it, they didn't answer me.

I went out to look for my husband. My husband came with the file and was shouting at them.

They now took me the labour room to check me.
Nurse- is this your first baby?
Me- no.
Lie down.
She turns to the other nurse, this one is fully dilated. Don't push yet o, wait let me get everything.
You've been in labour since and did not come to the hospital. You for dey for house born.
I tried explaining that it started this morning. Nobody listen to me.
She gave me cut and asked me to push.
I was crying and shouting at the same time.
She slapped my laps a few times, telling me to open my legs well and push. I finally pushed out my 3.7kg baby boy by 6.20am. I was just shouting Jesus. My legs were shaking.

She told me I've torn my cervix while labouring at home. Stitched the cervix and episiotomy.
I was just telling myself it will take time before another pregnancy again.

So labour and birth happened under one hour. When I came out I saw those who had been there overnight and still in labour, and they were surprised that I just came in now, and had put to birth.
All I could say was thank you Jesus because even the labour of that one hour was not funny.

Took the baby for my husband and daughter to see. Laid on the bed and started calling family and friends.,before drifting off to sleep.

WOW,so that poo you went to have was actually labour in progress.....na wah oh,thank God you didnt drop it in the toilet.

  5. My friend a first time mum had twins April 1st. Her hubby travelled for a burial that morning. She was okay just went for routine checkup. Her mom followed her since the hubby wasn't home. She got there they told her she was fully dilated. She felt no pain, no show, no water breaking. She couldn't even get to the delivery suite. In fifteen minutes twin boys were out. When she called her husband he thought it was April fool prank. Until he saw them. God is great. Some have it so easy.
