This was meant to be my spontaneous post but i didn't get there on time.
ReplyDeleteSo my favourite guy on CNN - Richard Quest is in Nigeria. And i watched yesterday. He started by saying the three main objectives of the current Administration are: Diversification, Domestic Manufacturing and Infrastructural Improvement. He also spoke about PMB seeking loan from China/World Bank to improve infrastructure.
Then Wale Tinubu comes and says two years after a hit by the recession, we are back on track. Quest believed that $70/barrell wont happen, wale argued it would. Quest asked why we have electricity problem, wale said the population exploded and we failed to privatize electricity on time. Quest asked about his satisfation with reformation after APC's 2 years; Wale said we have dealt with corruption, security and the economy is 3rd thing we are tackling. Quest said saudi and quatar are attempting to diversify and have a 2030 plan. He also said we have the potential to do so, so whats the plan. Wale said we have have the resources and he spoke about not doubting our potential but having the right economic policies would help. They both concluded on being optimistic about Nigeria's future. Hard handshake and good bye.
Quest said he rang the closing going at NSE. He described Nigeria as an emerging market. After advert, he talks about our infrastructure. Abuja international airport reconstruction and how they shut it down to build it up. They sha blabbed about the airport and showed images. He spoke about diverisfication to eradicate poverty and oil spills.
Next up is Funke Opeke MainOne Cable Company CEO. She said she had more difficulty getting funding to deploy infrastructure across the country. Quest asked about the cost of hosting Nigol (i think she said $21m, please confirm) and that its quite expensive for most investors. When Richard asked she said connecting Nigeria to the world and Nigeria internally are important - one for internet access and the other for improved communication. She said we need to have viable frameworks to deploy infrastructure thats not proprietary. Finally, Quest asks if theres room for optimism and she agrees. She says we need to evaluate our capacity to use what we have.
After going into other issues, Kunle Ade-Ojo, MD of toyota Nigeria comes on. I had a phonecall from London boo so i didnt quite get that part 😂😂 Sorry. Quest later spoke about big businesses working with local producers to solve logistical issues. One indian lady spoke about a natural-based food preservatives (Fresh paper) for those who want to preserve without refrigerator. Shes not Nigerian sha. You can look it up.
Quest came back and spoke about our smart phone manufacturing. Two indian guys - Sahir & Roheen Berry, founders of AfriOne are producing smart phones right here in Lagos. The company is called Content logo, they said their phone is price friendly and their competitive advantage is being able to get the average Nigerian have good phone technology and promote fintech, e-learning etc. They invited Quest to the factory. Lol. He said he thought they would give him the phone.
Finally, he spoke about the Niger-Delta issues. And conclusively said he would join us tommorow. Hopefully i can watch.

DeleteSurrogate mum ish is now quite common in Lagos. My friend was asked to find one in January to get 1m. Housing, feeding etc for 9 months covered. Then 1m after baby has been born. And a visa to any country of choice -just visa. She won't tell me who the couple was. Let me even ask her what the conclusion was. If you know any babe that disappears for months and returns with some cash chances are she haff gone to 'born' and collect money. Some of these fine IG University babes do it. It's not a bad thing and in my opinion its better than runs or dating yahoo boys or actually not adding any value to the society. You would be helping a couple in need have answered prayers. Both parties should agree and if possible get a lawyer to ensure no one is cheated, cos surrogates sef dey cheat some couples. Finally, make sure you invest the money wisely when you get it. I want to adopt it as my face cream but want to avoid wasting money. And no I don't want to 'bleach'.
