Award Ceremony For Kickstart Season 2 By International Breweries Ilesha Holds 20th APRIL 2017

The journey of a thousand miles they say begins with the very first step, and to this end the road to the grand finale of the KickStart (SEASON 2 ) youth empowerment initiative has come to an end. And such a beautiful end it truly is. 24 lucky winners this time around will on the 20th of April, 2017 be awarded grants that will ultimately kick start their dreams and change their lives. The event will take place at the prestigious Zenababs Half Moon Holiday Resort, Event Centre in the heart of the culture rich city of Ilesha in Osun State.

Season 2 of the project saw the first mentoring stage, which is a period of follow up and guidance. International Breweries PLC doesn't just want to give these grants, but want a situation of mentoring so that the successful applicants can keep to the requirements of the project which is to build, sustain and grow. This is the period where we now see our applicants take their leap of faith; a “KickStart DREAM” is realized.

The mentoring stage was also for monitoring and close evaluation, the lucky winners from the first edition had the opportunity to be tutored in order to avoid lapses thereby reducing pitfalls that could occur due to mistakes and complacency. IBPLC Foundation commissioned teams to not only visit place of businesses being operated, but also carried out extensive documentation of the winners of the first edition.






This was the foundation of the start of Season 2. Riding on the momentum of the last edition there was an immediate Call for entries to applicants in the South West geopolitical zones and it lasted for 1 month in order to encourage participation and show transparency. The application process for the first time saw the use of electronic upload and registration which was made possible on the newly upgraded website a feature that was not possible in the first edition, this ultimately made registration easier and submissions smoother. 124 lucky applicants where then selected from a poll of over 15,000 entries to be screened and trained properly on the requirements of the project and what is obtainable as a budding an entrepreneur. 

This selection process was no different from the last edition, and in order to deliver on the promise of International Breweries Foundation, the organizers once again created a boot camp where the 124 applicants were housed and drilled. This event was stationed at the grand TINSED HOTELS, Ilesha, in Osun State and for 5 days the applicants were schooled orally, physically and mentally on the rudiments of entrepreneurship by a team of professionals.

As required, after the boot camp, applicants where directed to prepare and submit their proposals for consideration within two working weeks of the close of camp, this was in line with requirements of the selection process. 50 out of the 124 applicant’s proposal were picked by a panel of judges who went through every proposal with a fine tooth comb to ensure compliance to the rules and requirements of the project. And this gave way for the final process: the Proposal Presentation and Defence, by the applicants to the panel of judges. After 4 days of gruesome evaluation, and consideration, the lucky finalist of 24 where carefully handpicked to be awarded and given grants to “KickStart” their dreams.

This year’s Awards Ceremony will be attended by the Crème of the society, Government dignitaries, Representatives of the Corporate Industry, members of the Royal Council, staff members of International Breweries PLC, the Media and the 124 applicants that were initially selected for the training and selection process. The awards promises to be the climax of the project were our lucky 24 will be unveiled to the entire world.



Re-caps of the project will be seen, the processes, evaluations, and finally...the decision. Our successful applicants are presented with the awards and grants. We will once again share in the afterglow, the elations and the disappointments for others. And sharing a DREAM COME true for those who have succeeded.
