ABS' Nonye Nwokoye Wins USAID 2017 Best Malaria Radio Programme Award

Nonye Nwokoye of the Programmes department of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) has won the USAID 2017 Best Malaria Radio Programme Award. 




The award was organized to commemorate the 2017 World Malaria Day by the USAID HC3 Nigeria Project under the National Malaria Elimination Program.


Udoka Obigbor from Women FM, Ogun state came second while Amaka Chukwu from Ebonyi State Broadcasting Service came third.



The theme for the 2017 World Malaria Day was "End Malaria for Good- What is your role?.


Speaking at the award ceremony which held in Abuja on Thursday, April 27, 2017, USAID Country Representative, Miss Nancy, said that the U.S has invested over 420 million dollars in the fight against malaria in Nigeria since 2010 and 75 million dollars in 2016 alone.


Present at the event were TUFace Idibia, Minister of Labour and productivity, Dr Chris Ngige (represented), representatives from USAID and other others.


It would be recalled that Ify Unachukwu of Programmes Department, Anambra Broadcasting Service had in 2016 won the DAME Prize of Best TV Documentary Award in Nigeria at the annual Diamond Award for Media Excellence sponsored by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON).
