Buratai tells Biafra agitators "You won’t achieve your aim in my lifetime"

Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, has told those agitating for an independent state to “forget it.”

Of the groups clamouring for sovereignty, the campaigns of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) are the most pronounced.

They have even had the cause to clash with security agents.

Speaking in Abuja after receiving an award conferred on him by a coalition of over 80 civil society organisations (CSOs), Buratai said the army would not condone any act that could lead to the disintegration of the country.

He also promised that insurgency would soon be a thing of the past......

  15. Biafra Biafra Biafra. Is this country really ripe for separation. Though, If the federal Government were to grant freedom to those agitating for it I'd have no option for I'm from thT region. But if I were the president I'd call a meeting and invite top agitators of this movement. Put all of them in separate rooms and ask them this exact question 'What is Freedom?' If they all can define it almost similarly and accurately then I will push for it.

  18. Youths of today support biafra cause they don't know what it is. Go and ask your grand parents if they would want you to go through same situation they went through in the past biafra war/struggle. I'm sure igbos think they will do better if they were to be seperated from the rest of Nigeria but the truth is igbos are power hungry people we want what we want and we don't mind who's gari we pour in sand. And one thing Nigerian don't know is that Hausas Land is as blessed as any other Land in Nigeria. They have untapped diamond, Copper, gold and uranium all deposits in different states of the north and fayemi is still helping the northerners research other resources they have Unknown to them check the the Nigerian mineral maps you will see what each States have. And the Yoruba people have crude oil especially the ondos ask ilaje people. Power hungry people wont allow us to be the best we can be as a Nation. Together we are strong and we are not called gaint of Africa for nothing but for the past sacrifices our fore-leaders made.
