Mark 9:2,5,6&9.
2. Six days later, after this, Jesus took with Him, Peter, James and John and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves, and He was transfigured before them and became resplendent and with divine brightness.
5.And Peter took up the conversation, saying, Master, it is good and suitable and beautiful for us to be here. Let us make three tents, one for You, and one for Moses and one for Elijah.
6. FOR HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO SAY...!
9. And as they were coming back down the mountain, He admonished and expressly orderd them to TELL NO ONE what they had seen.....!
We live in a world so transmogrified that children now have opinion over everything. In the middle of a conversation between two adults, a lad interrupts with his opinion.
You might call me old school, but I grew up in an age where you shut your mouth when adults were talking. That's if you were even privileged to still find yourself around them. My grandpa will always tell you, 'don't get into adult business!'
And because being motormouthed is childish and immature,
God does not give mature blessings to immature people.
There are too many babies in adult skins.
Age does not define an adult, self control does!
Before God takes you to the top, He sometimes gives you pictorial flashes of where He is taking you.. But sometimes, He demands that you shut your mouth! Every great person first saw themselves great before it manifested! Greatness is never accidental!
When God gives you glimpses, keeping it to yourself is crucial so that your enemies won't see you coming! The glimpses are signs that you have an upward calling! You must WATCH YOUR MOUTH!
When you are chosen, you will always be pulled apart. It doesn't matter how much you try to fit into the kind of lifestyle your friends live, it just will not work. I have friends who smoke, drink and womanise, but the truth is, it just isn't my thing. And even if i try too hard to be like them i will only get myself frustrated!
Everyone who has gotten an upward call has restled with a downward craving. "Called to be separated, crave to mingle among the crowd!"
Now to our text. Jesus had twelve disciples, and from them, He called three apart! The twelve are well known to everyone, but the three were Peter, James and John, which were His confidants! God does not do great things with the crowd. He selects a few.
Jesus took his confidants to Mount Hermon(mount of transfiguration). That mountain is believed to be 9,000 ft above sea level, The Highest mountain surrounding the sea of Galilee.
I have not stopped wondering how Jesus, Peter, James and John were able to ascend that mountain? Those days, there were no airplanes or other scientific means of elevating that high! That on its own remains a miracle! But above all, ascending to that altitude meant you will feel all sorts of weather.
Similarly, on your way to greatness, you will feel all sorts of weather. You will feel the heat of being hated and criticised by people who barely know you, you will feel the chills from loved ones who will turn their back on you, betray you and give up on you just so soon. You will also feel the warmth from friends and people you never expected will be nice to you because you probably have heard horrible things about them, only to realise they areally amazing people. Life is an oxymoron!
Think about this, why did Jesus not take His twelve cabinet members along with Him to the mountain? God knows us individually, and there are certain people He cannot trust with certain information. CAN GOD TRUST YOU WITH SECRETS?
Jesus said to them, "WHAT YOU SAW HERE, TELL IT TO NO MAN!"
God does not give mountain information to valley people.
Valley people see things on the surface and tend to place judgement on that thing based on their shallow minded conclusion, forgetting that every visible surface has an invisible debt!
How many times have you placed judgment on something without actually knowing the full details?
Friend, When God confides in you,
It is very important that you shut your mouth until He tells you otherwise!
Practise this by first leaning to keep other people's secrets
