On the valentines morning called him that I will soon be on my way only for lover boy to tell me he went for an urgent trip,I threaten to show up his place then lover boy brought the real him and shouted on me that I said I TRAVELED am not around.then by at about 5pm saw lover boy's dp had changed to his one and only gf meaning I was just a side chic, cried my eyes out and learnt my lessons, married to her now but I haven't yet found someone else up till now to call my own and haven't in my life received any valentines gift before. ReplyDeleteOn valentine days while growing up, I don't fail to fetch water for an elderly woman, I'do fill up her 'Buta, and in return she prays for me.
Other Valentine times, I just go to orphanage home close by with the little money I had saved up from school pocket money.
Then I make sure I get little gifts for everyone in my house especially My lovely dad.
I spent the last Val with my boo now ex, he gave me a beautiful cake and he got a gift from me too.

ReplyDeleteI had a very ugly experience in 2008. I was a 200 level student then. My then boyfriend always suspected that I was cheating on him, I wasn't even though I wasn't going to let him the me down, I was very outgoing and young, I would always hang out with a lot of guys. On valentines day we were hanging out, I needed to ease myself, we had been drinking, so I went to my friends hostel which was very close to the bar. We ended up chatting and I took a bit of time. By the time I came back bf wasn't happy with me, I was half drunk so I didn't care. We went home together even though we weren't talking at this point. After about 1 hour in his apartment he asked that I accompany him somewhere, I agreed. I noticed that he picked up my purse even though I didn't make any thing out of it. This guy just brought me out in the street, handed me my purse and said " since I feel too big for him we should call it quits". I was shocked is an understatement. I followed him back home, called his friend who also lived in the same block. We begged and begged to no avail. His friend took me to a girls room where I spent the night because his babe was around. By the next morning a Friday I went to school as usual but I was falling apart, I lost my phone and my wallet at different points. He was my first boyfriend, I was 18 I didn't know how to handle a breakup, I hadn't had one before. I called and called, whosai! I finally gave up. After three weeks he called and we made up. I was mad at myself for not being able to let go of someone who had treated me so badly. I was mad at him for what he did. Each day with him was like sleeping with the enemy. Sometime in june I started seeing another guy while still seeing him. One day I just broke up with him without letting him know though. So that weekend he came over to my hostel, we were supposed to go home together, I said I wasn't going, he asked why, I said because I broke up with you. He asked when I said last week Wednesday, he said how come he didn't know, I said u didn't ask. He was stupefied. He asked why, I said nothing. He asked if I had another boyfriend I said yes, he asked if he was the guy he saw me with in one boutique, I said yes. He went on about how mean can I get and all the bla bla blas. I just went up to my room and cried because I loved the guy but I Couldn't carry on with him after he intentionally put me in harms way. That was the last I celebrated valentine till I met and married my husband.

I was 23 then and he lived in London whilst I lived in Berkshire with my family. He called me and said he was in a meeting with some clients in Southampton and would be back very late and he's sorry we'll have to do something another day. I was like no probs, wasn't even upset. Then he said is it possible to come to London cus his sister would like to hang out with me since he's tied up. She ws single by the way. So I was like why not? At the end of the day, we are both "valentineless",lol. Put on my jeans, blazer,brogues and got on the train to London to meet his sis. Got off the train and at the station was dude waiting for me with a bunch of red roses, hahaha. He laughed at my shocked face and was like he got off his meeting early and wanted to play me a little. We got to his house and he had bought me a beautiful black dress, pair of heels and said we were going to dinner. Dress fit like a glove!
ReplyDeleteGot to the restaurant, there were obviously other couples celebrating. Then he brings out a clutch purse and says "oh you forgot to accessorise". Beautiful clutch purse! He says "open it" and in it was a phone. Those times when Motorola phones were still in existence, lol. Ended the night with a single lit candle on a cake brought in by the waiter for me. I swear I thought he was going to propose,lol. That was by far my most memorable Valentine.
Now, here I am years later with two kids who follow me even to the toilet!

I have not had any interesting val's day, I actually believe in it(its a special day set aside to share love not necessarily to your boyfriend or girlfriend) but i cant go over the hills to have one as regards expecting a gift or having a date. I have not really had special moments with anyone on val's day in all my adult life. The only people I gift are my parents and some auxiliary staff in my office. I plan to do that this year as well and I will also send gifts to my boo whom I love so much but we having some issues presently. Sad I wont be with him but I will still send him a gift which I had already prepared for before now. Feb.14 2014, this guy never had plans of taking me out same here but all I had in mind that day was full of mischief so I rang him up and asked if we could go out on a date since it was val and my man said okay. So Miss and Master went out to Eden garden and Miss was busy drinking and enjoying herself lol. Then the DJ started playing music along side the cool air blowing in the evening. "What a way to relax the nerves after work". My people oh! after this miss(Me) finish enjoying myself, na so I drag uncle say pls come closer I want to whisper something into your ear. Master(Ex) stupidly brought his ear and the next thing he heard was mind blowing. I bluntly told him it was over between us and the look on his face was crazy. He said; but you are smiling, you are happy and dancing so why breaking up with me? I just carry my drink continue to have my fun jor. Meanwhile I had one die hard toaster (My hubby now) begging me to club with him which I said okay lol. I kept that one waiting in club while I dey sleep. He called and called I no ans. Na so the next morning I started feeling bad for him oh! I saw him on Monday and started apologizing him say, it is okay you owe me nothing na so my conscience start to prick me. Finally I apologized to him (hubby) and promised to visit him and he was so happy. 2 months into our dating he asked me to be his wife and the rest na history till today as we are happily married for 2 years now and useless Ex is yet to find any woman. To say I checked his phone one day and saw the conversation he had with a lady telling her he had no val chai! I finished him that day and he was begging me to bring down my voice so his neighbors won't hear me lol. Na that time I start to shout more. The guy begged me to start all over with him I said NO!! I'm gone for good not just gone, but gone to a better hand. When I did my trad in east he was travelling to the east as well but couldn't continue his journey he had to lodge in a hotel in my home town day dreaming that I would change my mind for where. Miss was busy dancing and shaking bum bum on top hubby pr... lol.

I felt bad that day that I had to go clubbing with my friends and that was the same day we passed out of NYSC. That guy sha!! the woman wey go marry must get patience raised to power 2 lol.
