Certificates obtained outside Nigeria will continue to be more valued and considered over those obtained in the country due to some factors, the United Kingdom-based Metropolitan School of Business and Management, has said.
Among the reasons adduced for the value placed on foreign certificates by the institution include “use of dynamic and relevant practice-based approaches” and the combination of corporate experience with “interactive teaching methodology with live case studies”.
The Assistant Country Director of MSBM (Nigeria), Mosisiye Kayode, stated this in Abuja during the Enterprise 101 workshop organised for business managers, young professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs.
She said, “We have affiliations with schools in the UK but anyone participating in our school in Abuja has worked, studied and lived in the UK at a particular time because you cannot give what you do not have. So anyone who is going to teach in our class is someone who has studied, worked and lived in the UK .
“If you have a certificate from the UK, it is more appreciated because they know that we don’t just give you the teaching, we give you the real life scenario.
-Punch
Of course our certificates have no value when parents and student buy them. Sometimes when speaking to a graduate, I can't believe they attualy went to university!!! "Smh"
ReplyDelete#actually.... You are also a graduate like this 'SMH'
DeleteA case of when the school doesn't pass through you. Many students can't even defend their degrees these days. So I blame them NOT.
DeleteOK bye
Exactly. Sometimes I caution some of these so called graduates when they chat with me.
DeleteI spent 5 years in Ibadan obtaining a degree.
DeleteIt is only when I went to America, that I discovered I had wasted my time in UI.
This doesn't apply to everyone pls. Some people actually read and worked hard for their certificate.
DeleteThe grammarian, what is attualy? Don't even tell me is auto correct. In fact u are one of those graduates u are talking about.... Kwakwakwa
DeleteTrue sha
DeleteThat is not what they are saying here. We only do theory in our nigeria university without learning how to apply it in real situation of life.
DeleteThis is not true. When you take your certificate overseas they value it. If you have a B grade in nigeria, America may consider it an A because they know how tough our schooling is . The guy was just trying to sell his market
DeleteI am telling you, even those in medicine field.
DeleteAdanne it's medical field. I know you didn't even go to school. Disgrace
DeleteI was asked to go and do 1yr access course to add to my Naija cert.before I could enter uni.in Uk.
DeleteAll you anons can kiss my ass!! If you all are not cowards, come out from you hiding places!! Professors too knows
DeleteNigerians forever feeling inferior to the white man. Living abroad having schooled in Nigeria I bring a lot to the table and my employers see me as an asset. I thank my dad for investing in a good education and giving me the best where my education was concerned. The person who went to UI, what were you studying for 5 years, surely you left with a tiny bit of knowledge. You can't be dumb enough to have graduated with an empty brain.
Delete12:02 and 12:48 my comment is direct at you assholes!!!!
DeleteWhere is d like button for anon 14:11, I no no d kind school una go, DAT lady up dere is yarning trash, una follow her
DeleteRe u guys serious, DAT lady is yarning trash, una dey follow her.
Delete@BJ Bonji 😂😂😂 my sentiments exactly. But not as harsh though.
DeleteMost Nigerians hate the truth that is why nobody is bold enough to track Buhari down and find out where he is and if he is still breathing!
DeleteSome Nigerians graduated with degrees in computer science and mechanical engineering for example and they cannot fix cars while there were no modern computers at the time some of them graduated.
Universities need more funding not more graduates like these... Another problem is Mr Lecturer who fails female students who refuse to date him. My friends Military father had to send some soldiers to a university with a verbal warning before his daughter graduated after a year of failure!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteBefore nko.
DeleteWhen Nigerian graduates plus lecturers sef don't know the difference between budge and bulge, am and I am, thumb and thump How dem certificate go get value. When corrected they will ask u "who English epp". Not mention how unimaginative they are, na only copy and paste them sabi.
DeleteThis one na news?
Deletetheir pot of ogbono soup.. we like our certificates like that joor.
ReplyDeleteAbeg tell them joor... Lol
DeleteEmployers in naija would be more interested in applicants with Western country certificates than Naija because It's easier to verify than our own. The Naija school might be on strike or just might not be accredited.
DeleteAnd some of our products are just sub standard like poor command of English, low self esteem and disrespectful behaviors etc and how do you defend such certificates?
It is a pity. They give credence to those with overseas certificates
ReplyDeleteDumbass...didn't you just read the reason behind it?
DeleteYou are one of the reasons they don't value our certificates, when you can't write to even save your life, yet you are a graduate.
DeleteAnon 11:32 why call her that? You are an example of a bad product of a Nigerian University
DeleteOk ooooo
ReplyDeleteMogbe hehehe
ReplyDeleteEven the ones from our Almighty Private Universities? Hahaha
Its their opinion though.
DeleteThey do have a point though. That's why Nigerians undergo certain certificate or diploma courses before they get jobs over there.
Their system is different and they don't rely on degrees but experience in most cases in the UK unlike the US. Most of them are not as educated as Nigerians but they are better trained to the jobs they do. Training on the job is continuous unlike Nigeria.
DeleteFor example, people don't claim to be bored at work, and sell pants and bra at work in order to make ends meet. There is enough work to do and it is hard work to the extent that when you close, you will thank God. Nigeria is behind in that area of expertise e.g., customer services. I cannot call any Nigerian Ministry for equires! Backward nation.
Gaskia
ReplyDeleteOk o
ReplyDeleteMy own reason is that majority of Nigerian graduates are empty brains that sort their lecturers through money or by sex to pass!...
ReplyDeleteNone of my kids will attend a university here..
God forbid!...

DeleteWell, they made sense but it should not be applicable in all cases, but it is, due to our preference for anything foreign. In Nigeria for instance, some one can study Yoruba education in US and will be given preference to the person that studied Yoruba education in Ife.
ReplyDeleteSee casting

ReplyDeleteMore money for their economy. So they open their mouth and discredit Nigerian certificates. If Nigerians will stop wasting money to go there, afterall they won't give you opportunity to work or stay after your education. To me schooling abroad is a waste of money if you are not a citizen of that country.
ReplyDeleteDon't say what you know nothing about. I guess if you studied abroad you would see things differently.
DeleteYou are a fool. I studied abroad. It's not worth it if you spend so much and cannot work or gain experience. It's better to either go for masters or certificate course abroad.
DeleteIt is a pity. They give credence to those with overseas certificates
ReplyDeleteThe day I said I promised myself never to do my Masters in Nigeria after my first degree, they came for me 'Chikito is proud' 'she's bragging' 'Are u saying nigerian masters deg. doesn't have value?'
ReplyDeleteWell what I know is I've studied in Nigeria and a abroad and the difference is CLEAR. Remember the first time i wrote reflective essay. I was like: wetin be this? 😂😂 who dey reflect when i did my BSc? Na test or assignment and exam. Now the question of who gets a better job with the degree is on God because the bible says: The race isn't to the swift.
My advice is: if you wanna get a foreign degree, do it because you want to invest in yourself. Don't do it because you think it will get you a better job instantly. The jobs and opportunities will come if you can recognise them when they do oh. Your primary focus should be self-investment. It is an investment that lasts forever. As for those of you who started schooling abroad at younger ages..... you don't know what God did for you. Better use your opportunities well. That's why when I see most of them dropping out of uni halfway or not going at all I Smh. Wey better education dey with student loan. Nigeria we pay all our fees, no busary or loan yet you still get half-baked graduates.
Shut up!!! U too talk. U only did Masters abroad oh and u talk too damn much. Us wey start high school up till MSc abroad don't make as much noise as u. U really do think u are SDKB's finest. I knew gurls like u back then in the UK. Loud mouthed bitches!

DeleteFooooooooool
Hello Chikito! How do I contact you?
DeleteThanks!
Chichi.
I don't blive Nigeria University Certificates has any issues. The problem is with the Nigerian people. For more than 50yrs we have had over a million Nigerians graduate from UK and other foreign universities, what have they contributed to Nigeria? Rather what they do is to come secure the better jobs and embezzle alot of money frm d system.
ReplyDeleteU av a point
DeleteAnd Stella deleted it. Issorait.
ReplyDeleteLesson learnt.
Lol...so some persons are actually struggling to be a blog's finest? How is being a blog finest helping their lives? Who you are in reality is what matters. Blog is for information and entertainment, well, their cup of tea.
