Service Year Boulevard 91

After reading this, you are next for the Boulevard recount!

Stella of life,
Ever since I stumbled on this blog i have a special page for it, it's never closed, i refresh first thing in the morning. As for beevees I've met the good, bad and ugly. Pls keep your comments coming coz it makes my day. Abeg enough of the hailing before I get tired of typing.

Now to my main gist, I served in abia state. This was not where I had in mind o coz i paid someone to post me to uyo and she ate my money, anyway I was still grateful that God worked it to abia instead of one northern state coz of boko haram. Fast forward to the D-day, all the people posted to abia in my school organized and chartered a bus going straight to camp, upon getting to umuna bende camp as usual the soldiers asked us to carry our things on our head as an ajebota girl that I is now I was struggling coz my box was sooo big you'll think I'm moving into my husband's house.

The soldiers finally let me roll the box to where we would be searched, another drama there o they started laughing again when they searched my bag and discovered 70% was food, cornflakes, biscuits, milk, sugar, groundnut, sardines etc. They tried to seize some of the can tins and say it's contraband, for where I refused o.

After there we proceeded to the hostels, got a bed, dressed it and went for clearance and got my khaki n jungle boots but the boots were so big i had to tie the laces very tight so they don't fall of my legs since i tried to change them but no smaller size.

When we started parole the following morning, me and some fellow corpers were picked in my platoon n were asked to match, I never knew it was an audition for who will be the platoon commandant, I was finally picked. I was responsible for giving orders and leading the platoon on each parole morning and evening, this job no easy at all. My voice cracked coz we were like 400 n i had to shout so that everyone will hear me, my hands were paining me from saluting every minute, my feet hurt from standing for hours unend, I wasn't even allowed to squart on intervals, I didnt find it funny at all, coz others were having fun.

I got an idea to fake sickness, one guy had to fill in for me after two days he quit, my goodness worst mistake of his life, he was asked to roll on the floor, frog jump and so many other wicked punishment, I never knew people don't quit in the army.

Immediately my platoon officer saw that I was better they put me back again as commandant. I was suffering and smiling i started making mistakes intentionally so that they will see that I'm not good enough and remove me themselves so I don't face that guys fate. Moving on... I saw a very cute tall, dark macho looking guy that I was attracted to but the guy was always with girls, during one of those boring lectures, I stepped out to buy gala to keep my mouth moving as i was sleeping, I saw Mr cute in the shop, the moment I picked the gala the guy said girls that likes gala will like sucking big dick, n him n his friends laughed.

I just shaked my head with disappointment and left. The stupid guy contested for Mr NYSC and ended up crying on stage due to stage freight, I laughed till my stomach ached. So Mr tough guy isn't so tough afterall. After that day no one saw his face outside, I'm guessing embarrassment didn't let him.

Few days later we received our posting letter and I was posted to a private secondary school, I almost jumped down from the bike coz i thought the bike man was taking me for ritual, the school was in a small village and immediately after the school was a very thick forest, fear grip me o but when I went in and saw other Corp members from older batches I was a little bit at ease. Finally I settled in, was accepted n given classes to teach, the jss 1-3 were a little tough coz they mostly understood igbo, some couldn't even spell their names and i wondered how they got there. The sss were always complaining that they didn't understand, my people I'm not a trained teacher what do you want me to do?

I didn't have any camp boo, because I wanted to respect myself but there was one youth pastor that was in my platoon, we got posted to the same lga so we became friends, we also had a mutual friend whom he was attracted to but unto pastor tins he couldn't say, we often visit each other when we are bored or on weekends since Umuahia is a very very very boring place, but I noticed he likes coming to my house n staying till its dark and i didn't like it, also my landlady was an old woman so she likes bathing outside when it's dark, so I complained to him about it and he flared up, my people i was shocked so for him mind he can come and visit me and stay till he likes because we are friends?

I later got the hint that he thought we were more than friends meanwhile he has met my fiancΓ©e when he came visiting o. Abeg I'm tired, passing out was the happiest day of my life coz i hated teaching, it was damn too stressful, making notes, givin tests, marking n recording for six classes and 2 subjects, I begged the proprietor to reduce the work load but he refused and the pay was 5k so I couldn't care less if the students understood or not my own was to give notes and go, then pass all of them during exam time.

I just pity those kids coz 80% of the staff are corps members and they used us, we complained to our li she just said we should put more effort, greedy woman she's on the proprietors pay roll. This is all I can type I hope i didn't West ya time, bye.

*No you didnt waste my time, you raised my curiosity...why doesnt NYSC force students who know nothing bout teaching to become teachers?I dont understand....can the scheme not support itself?..Why dont hey bring in Farming and Agriculture into the scheme and send students to the farms?would be better than teaching oh

  3. I keep saying it, if u are not a TRAINED teacher,i are not a teacher at all. Teaching requires patience and love.

Alot go into education Dept not bcx they love or have d passion but bcx they couldn't secure admission in other Dept .

U cannot force anyone who doesn't hv passion for teaching to go for it bcx as d writer clearly stated,u won't be concerned if d students follow or not

  9. I agree with u Stella, untrained teacher can not impact students.they should post them to farms for cultivation or poultry.teaching is not all comers affair,so they should not spoil the future of the students.

  11. Stella what she's saying is true, these various states wait for corpers to come if not no teachers, science students in ss2 have never done chemistry in thier entire life because corper that can teach chemistry hasn't been posted to thier school.
