      It goes both ways. A man can tell u the truth to hurt you, and he can tell u a lie to hurt u too. So the truth and a lie can be told to hurt. Of course in both cases he doesn't love the lady. But to the one he loves he'd tell a lot of lies to comfort her. That's what I think

      A higher no of women can't handle the truth
      Women are usually moved by what they hear, while men are moved by what they see.

    Waiting to hear from the men.

    As a very straightforward person, I prefer to be shocked with the truth, than be shielded with lies.

    Hit me with the truth. I'm a human shock absorber, thanks to life and it's different hands.

    Some people argue that if you love someone, you'll lie to protect them. I opine that if you love someone, you let them know the truth, no matter how difficult or hurtful it is. I don't see how keeping your partner in the dark about sensitive issues translates to loving them. What if they find out someday, as is always the case? But then, that's my opinion.

    Goes both ways sometimes.
    A man can lie to protect d happiness of someone he loves,d truth could be damaging,(depends on d kinda truth anyway).
    A man can also tell d truth to someone he loves n beg for forgiveness.
    But bottomline is: a man who lies to you every damn time, HATES YO ARSE.

    But I would prefer you tell me the truth, let me react immediately & later on forget about it & move on, than for you to lie to me, cos the truth will most def come out one day & when it comes out, my reaction will be irreversible.

    Its tricky and sometimes the truth does not set you free but rather complicate issues the more,yes she might forgive you for being honest but depending on what happened not all girls forgive and forget,she will start doubting you and she might start seeing u in a different eye

    Me I tend to stay away from things that wil make me lie to her in order not to be caught in a sticky situation

    I believe sometimes people lie to the ones they love because they 'feel' he/she won't be able to handle the truth. But I always ask, are you really keeping this because they can't handle the truth is its just a flimsy excuse to keep your sins under the carpet? I mean, you haven't had any such experience with him/her in the past and you already assume they're unable to act right.
    I'd rather you tell me the truth that keep it hidden and I get to find out later.

    Me, I tell lies when it's convenient to lie. My yoruba ex boyfriend no dey ever deserve the truth, cos he will use that truth to frustrate you. Good riddance!!!

    The one im dating now gets more truth than lies from me cos he's not a difficult person but I still lie wen I need to lie not cos he would react negatively to the truth but cos I just feel there are some things one shouldn't share in a relationship.

    ‎Stells, the truth is, most human beings can't handle the truth though we claim we can. There's something known as the decency of merciful lies, that's what most of us crave subconsciously.‎ The sad truth is, we, ladies are worse. I guess it's because we are more emotional. It takes a lady with a mature and evolved mind to handle brutal honesty.

    I remember watching an episode of Tyra Banks' talk show on relationships. She had some guys as guests to talk "candidly" about relationships. Out of the 5 guys, only one was honest, the rest were just acting out their scripts effortlessly. They told the audience, majority of which were ladies, and Tyra exactly what they wanted to hear. Guess what? Tyra and her audience were cheering the "players" regardless of the obvious lies but they kept booing the honest guy. As a matter of fact, Tyra was so hostile to him in the most unprofessional way.

    I'm not a man but I know telling the truth doesn't necessarily mean a person loves the recipient of the true tale, I think it depends on each individual. As a lady, I would feel insulted if my husband tells me to my face that he's off to see his mistress, I expect a high degree of discretion. I remember a client I had way back when, she used to get super upset that her hubby keeps things from her. She was lost in the fantasy that married couples should have no secrets between them, you know, that picture perfect ideology. I tried in vain to convince her to chill as long as he was honest with things which matter. She kept pressing and pressing and pressing, trying to convince her hubby that he can open up and tell her his secrets. A couple of months later, she told me she was filling for divorce! I was bewildered because I thought her decision was based on her hubby's reluctance to "bare it all". Imagine the wonderment when I found out her decision was based on the fact that he finally opened up to her but she couldn't handle the truth. She had so much resentment for him that she couldn't even bare to sleep in the same room with him.

    Most men I know whom love their partners, would rather lose a limb than reveal their shenanigans to them. The fear of losing the one they love makes a lot of people hide certain details. I may be wrong but I feel where the fear of losing someone isn't present, you throw cautious to the winds and tell the truth even when the truth can mess them up big time. I love my hubby with every fibre of my being and I know the feeling is mutual but there are certain questions I would never ask him because I don't want to put him on the spot and I sure as hell wouldn't want to catch him in a lie. So I operate the "ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies" policy in certain areas. Blissful ignorance? Maybe, but it has kept our passion for each other flaming for 17 years, 15 of which have been exciting matrimony.‎

    Ladies, a man lies to you for his selfish interest and never because he wants to protect you. When we can tell you the truth no matter what...it means we respect you.

    Truth can be tough and most times have consequences but it is a man who has ethics and principles that will tell you the truth. If you are a woman who can not take the truth then work on your esteem and maturity level. If people have to walk on egg shells to make sure you do not overreact then please check yourself.

    Summary: When we lie to you, we do not regard you as much and we are equally very selfish.
