SAD STORY

It saddens my heart whenever I see people (especially young men and women) suffering from disease conditions that is 100 percent preventable, one of which is substance abuse induced mental illness.

I was opportuned to work in a male ward at neuropsychiatric hospital Aro Abeokuta and I was shocked, not just because of the number of mentally sick patients in bed but because of the high number of patients suffering from substance abuse. Young men who are meant to be productive looked messed up in bed, chained and restricted to avoid crazy dramas.


I believe some mental illness cannot be adequately prevented(some are hereditary) but why on earth are we increasing the percentage of people suffering from mental illness by what can be easily prevented....at this point....you all really want to know if I'm angry right now...yes I'm angry and mad... I saw a friend of mine chained to the bed,screaming and was too aggressive and this resulted into serious beating for him...I couldn't hide my emotions...my eyes filled with tears..


It all started when he got to part two in Obafemi Awolowo University, he fell into wrong hands and started taking marijuana- a stick per day and then he increased it to numerous numbersof sticks. Most of you will defend your act that he could have continued with just a stick or two but trust me it's never like that, taking marijuana is just like using sleeping pills,it gets to a point whereby a lower dose doesn't work for you anymore and you may need to increase the dose and then the problem sets in.


You may also say " I have self control" I agree with you....but what about that friend of yours that you influenced and lacks self control...what about your brothers, your sisters, your cousins, do they all have self discipline..are you sure they won't be addicted...


And to everyone out there who have friends,families who abuse drugs, suffering from addiction, please let them pay visits to any psychiatric hospital close to them...this will make them realize the only difference between them and those on hospital wards is just the absence of chains of their legs and complete mental breakdown..this may enable them change their ways.

And for those who were once victims and currently on treatment, please do well to visit hospital on your clinic days, avoid friends that can influence you and do not for any reason go back those odd days... Trust me RELAPSE IS CRAZY..

On this note, let's say no to substance abuse..people suffering from bipolar, schizophrenia and other affective disorders all wish theirs could be completely prevented....WHY DO YOU HAVE TO INDUCE YOUR OWN MENTAL ILLNESS???

Qualification

 Essential Sensory Requirements: Sufficient hearing and vision to perform duties.

2. ALS Medical Doctors: Responds to emergency medical dispatch, providing ALS care at the scene of a medical event, en route to the hospital and also rendering other emergency medical procedure as appropriate to the practice of the registered medic.
Qualification
 Copy of Certificate of Board Certification by Medical and Dental Council, Nigeria (MDCAN)
 Copy of Certificate of Completion of ALS, BLS, ATLS, ITLS, PALS, PHTLS,
 Copy of current practice licence
 3-5 years working experience in similar position
 Previous experience working in an ER, Ambulance unit, Intensive care unit is an added advantage

TRUE LIFE STORY

  This happened at the early hours of 10/01/2017 at Maryland bus stop, Lagos.

   Usually I drive myself down to my office, but unluckily for me today I left home with a public transport. I alighted from the "BRT" at Maryland trying to board a bus  to ikeja, I saw this ugly small car waving at me, trying to "drag" my attention to join his vehicle since I was going to ikeja. 


  I joined the vehicle, when I got in I noticed we were just four(4) The driver, a female passenger at the front seat, an elderly man at the back seat and then myself.


  Here's the story!
  Just 2 mins away from where I joined the vehicle, the driver requested we pay him so as to continue the journey, he requested the woman at the front seat pay twice the money since she has a luggage in the booth, She refused paying him such amount. 


  The driver parked and rushed out of the vehicle saying he's going to bring down her luggage and drop her halfway. She pleaded with him and finally agreed to pay him the full amount. 


All these were happening before my very eyes. The driver started lamenting as he continued the journey, saying when he got to the booth to carry down her luggage what he say with his eyes he couldn't believe it.


 He asked the woman the content of  the luggage because when he opened it he said it was filled with money. The woman confessed that the money belonged to her but was stolen from her husband because he forced her to have sex with a Dog. That was when I shouted, please let's go to the station and report this case. The elderly man seated close to me said I should hold on, the driver suggested we share the money equally.

  He asked how much was in there, the lady said its hard currency but equivalent to 15million naira when converted. I gasped!!!

  I insisted we get to the station since there's a nearby one at ikeja, but they refused. At this point I was hypnotized.

I was starting to get myself when the driver said to the elderly man how to share the money. The money must be shared equally said the driver, but before then there's something he said that was "ontop" of the money which he called "charm". The lady pleaded not to touch the money that the money needs to be cleansed, we should all follow her to meet with her sister's pastor who will help in cleansing the money. At this point I wasn't myself o. 

It was when the driver asked me if I have any pastor that can help in cleansing the money, that was when I realized what was going on, then I shouted! Drop me off now before I scream.

 I still can't believe I fell a victim, when I got down, looking at the vehicle I said to myself  ''Babe you had better be thankful for your life'' because all of this happened within a short period of about 10mins from Maryland bus-stop to Eko hospital.


Please everyone should be careful especially when boarding vehicles you're not familiar with.


So this old trick still works?wow...You are a poüular BV who has commented on a post this happened to someone before so seeing it happened to you is shocking,na wah..person no dey know finish,no dey see finish.
