-. The caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume (Borno South).
In a letter, which was transmitted to the Senate on Tuesday, the APC caucus forwarded the name of Senator Ahmed Lawal (Yobe North) as the new Senate Leader, noting that the decision was arrived at during the party’s caucus meeting of Monday 9th January, 2017.

- Former Minister Of Information, Chief Nnia Nwodo has emerged the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Nwodo emerged winner during the election with a wide margin, having polled 242 votes, while Prof. Chiweyite Ejike trailed far behind with 13 votes.
-. Former President, Goodluck Jonathan has debunked the claims that he collected kickbacks in the $1.3 billion OPL 245 oil block deal involving oil giants ENI and Royal Dutch Shell, saying he met with executives of the companies but didn’t partake of any illegality.
Jonathan in a statement through his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze said at no time did he hold a private meeting with representatives of ENI to discuss pecuniary issues.

The upper legislative chamber rejected the US-based professor over his failure to attend his confirmation hearing.
- There are reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission may soon consider declaring former Deputy Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Ben Otti, wanted if he refuses to make himself available to the commission.
Otti, who also served as Director of Finance and Accounts at the NNPC, is central to the investigation into the $153m that was allegedly diverted from the account of the NNPC by the then Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, in 2014.
- The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has affirmed that the only way Nigerian government can stop the actualisation of Biafra is to kill over “70 million Biafrans” who have sworn to continue the struggle of the Ndigbo nation.
Emma Nmezu and Clifford Iroanya, the groups spokespersons in a statement warned that both the President Muhammadu Buhari – led government and the British government can never stop the actualisation of Biafra because it’s a divine project.
- The Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER) has called on Pastor Enoch Adeboye to rescind his resignation as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The call came in a statement issued by the Executive Director of the Abuja-based human rights group, Mr Frank Tietie, on Tuesday, where he urged highly revered Pastor Adeboye to change his mind and rescind his resignation as the General Overseer of RCCG.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who made ths disclosure on Tuesday, explained that the first outbreak of bird flu in Nigeria was reported in 2006 and spanned through 2008.

-. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers will commence its planned three-day warning strike today (Wednesday) over unresolved issues with some International Oil Companies operating in the country.
The union said it had given the Federal Government a 21-day ultimatum to intervene in a bid to resolve the issues.
