Recall that Akufo-Addo appointed Saratu Atta as his personal assistant in preparation for his inauguration as president on Saturday, January 7.
A statement released on Akufo-Addo’s website said Atta had served as an executive aide to the president-elect since 2009.
According to Fani-Kayode, his ex-wife deserves her appointment because she has been working with Akufo-Addo for so long.
Fani-Kayode told NAIJ.com: "I am very proud of Saratu. She is a wonderful lady and very hardworking.
"I have no doubt that she will do an excellent job in her new position and so will Nana Akufo Addo. With people like that at the helm of affairs Ghana will be in very good hands.
"Nana was born to lead and I am glad that he has finally been given the opportunity to do so."
Ms. Atta got married to Fani-Kayode in 1987.
They were separated in 1990 and divorced in 1993 and have a child, Folake together, who is a lawyer in UK today.
She is the daughter of the first civilian governor of Kwara state, Adamu Atta, who passed on in May 2014 at the age of 87.
On his part, Ghanaian president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo, a member of the New Patriotic Party, emerged winner of the December 7, 2016 general elections, defeating incumbent John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress.
He was once married to Fani-Kayode’s older sister, Remi.
The Ghanaian president-elect and Remi were married for 10 years and spent most of their time together in Paris before returning to Accra where they later divorced after two children together.
