ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I was never hit by my parents. Me and my siblings were never flogged by our parents, they had better ways to correct us and I can tell you, I'm well behaved same as my siblings
Let me just give an example of how my parents trained us: When I was in secondary school, I had a bad habit of preparing to go to school late. Mind you, I always woke up early but I spend as much as 30minutes having my bath and this makes me prepare for school very late. Normally, when we wake up in the morning, we all go to have our bath and after that, we pray so that everyone can go ahead with their activities. But because of me, we started praying first then everyone can have their bath, that way, I only get to delay myself.
So, on this very unfortunate day, I had an excursion, we were just few that were selected to go for that excursion. I woke up very early, had my bath quickly and was the first to get ready (schools were on vacation then). I went to my parents room to wake them up so that we can quickly pray and for them to give me money. My father now decided to have his bath before coming out to pray, I was so angry because they school bus was scheduled to leave by 7am and it was some minutes to 7. I was waiting in the parlour for everyone cos they decided to be snails that day, I was already crying because I felt the bus would leave me. They eventually came out, my teachers were already calling and my dad told them "I'm delaying myself", omo, I wan die.. Eventually, we prayed and I went late to the bus, my teachers started shouting at me like it's my fault I'm late to the bus.
Since that day, I learnt my lesson and cut my bathroom time to about 10minutes.
So, what am I saying? There are better ways to make your baby learn her lesson that beating her! Domestic violence is never excused!!
