An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Wednesday dissolved a 12-year-old marriage on the grounds of constant fighting and lack of care for the children.
The court granted the petition of Mr. Julius Ajala, who accused his wife, Kemi, of lack of respect, lack of care for their children and denial of sex.
Julius, 50, also submitted that Kemi was lazy.
He told the court that he was tired of the union and needed divorce to avoid constant quarrel with Kemi.
In her response, 48-year-old Kemi did not deny the allegations but submitted that Julius constantly beat her over flimsy reasons.
The mother of two said that the petitioner usually destroyed her wares – food stuff – whenever she returned late from market.
She told the court that she deliberately starved Julius of sex because of his wayward lifestyle.
The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, held that the marriage had broken down irretrievably, and consequently dissolved it.
She granted custody of the female child of the marriage, aged 11, to Kemi and gave the custody of the nine-year- old son to Julius.
Akomolede ordered Julius to pay N4,000 monthly to Kemi for the feeding of the female child, adding that the man should be responsible for the education of the children.
She ordered the wife to release the girl on holiday to her father who must return her a week before school resumption.
She granted access to both parties to visit the children between 8a.m. and 6p.m.
The divorce suit first came up for mention on Oct.12, 2016.

I was waiting to read Igando as usual.
ReplyDeleteLol
Delete😂@igando. Mine was ikotun.
Deletena dem sabi.....OMAA
ReplyDeleteNawah what kind of bad news is this? So this kids are now from broken home.I just don't get it how couple that has been leaving peacefully for 12yrs just came up with divorce..Cant they resolve their issues maturely #Say NO to divorce#
ReplyDeleteLiving peacefully? Who said they were? If they were they won't be talking about divorce.
Delete7.56, you are one of the problems! Now stigmatizing the kids! Your double mouths in this blog will not destroy people!
Delete4000 monthly for feeding? And parents why??? Those children are my concern now...Lord all over to you to train those kids
ReplyDeleteI wonder ooo when I read 4k! @ oluwatoyosi. This is why most women don't divorce! What will 4k buy? Is it rice or garri? The judicial system is a complete mockery in Nigeria!
DeleteNa WA o
ReplyDeleteThe woman is going through menopause but the both do not understand.
ReplyDeleteLet the stay apart they are already at their prime.
Poverty too is a factor
ReplyDeleteSad as it is.It's better they go their separate ways rather than resolving to die in the sham of a marriage.
ReplyDeleteIgando, take several seats.
ReplyDeleteThe woman is honest, I believe the man pushed her to behave the way she did.
N4000 for feeding? The court no try.
good for them
ReplyDeleteSMH.
ReplyDeleteStupid man. So,because of sex,you will deny your children from their bond. I think it is the boy that will suffer the most. All his father's new mistresses will keep maltreating him and seeing him as threat. The woman will definitely take care of the girl. When things like this happen, the children are always the true victims.
ReplyDeleteA man that has lived 5 decades in this world will deny his child motherly love because of his selfish reasons, I am very sure that if it is not how the woman has kept herself, she would have had like 50children. This kind of man will even refuse to use condom knowing he has been philandering up and down. I am very sure he already has a chic somewhere with a wedding gown ready. The little boy will understand the importance of a mother soon.
True to that @8.04!
DeleteMost divorce stories ar caused by infedility..if only d men will stick to thr wives nd control the dick. .nawaoo
ReplyDeleteWhy do i have the feeling that, the woman is at the losing end??
ReplyDeleteWhich woman? Make she dey until she collect HIV or gets beaten to death? The children are the ones that lost. As always. Especially the one that will live with the father.
DeleteNo way mahn...that woman cant be on the losing end unless...if she decides to be lazy..
Delete8.11, how is she @ a losing end bikonu? She will be free! No more in law trouble, cooking, cleaning,
DeleteIts better for them, one of them must not be beaten to coma or live in constant unhappiness because of their lack of respect for the union.
ReplyDeleteShe can come back as late as she pleases and he can soe his oats as wild as he wants.
Pls can anyone gimme a clue on how to go to Abeokuta Agriculture school? From lagos
DeleteNAwa oh all did divorce cAse
ReplyDeleteOlodo. Change your headline. There's nothing like "couple's". It's "couple".
ReplyDeleteThank me later. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
😅😅😅😂😂😂😂
DeleteNa you be Chairman of Olodo Council.
The rate at which couples divorce over wrongs that can be wrighted is just too alarming, you renege on your bedroom obligation and still have the temerity to talk back, well, I blame it on westernization.
ReplyDeleteEverything is the west fault kwa?@ 8.28 WHY DO YOU USE THEIR TECHNOLOGY?
DeleteWhen you push someone to the wall, the person will have no choice than to turn around and face you! THIS IS WHAT NIGERIAN WOMEN ARE DOING NOW!
You say temerity to talk back?ORIEGWU! What do you expect women to do when men don't fulfil their financial obligations in the home? Kill them? Rubbish!
Some of you men are goats, very stupid, selfish and insensitive. Women go through a lot. I once didn't feel like sex because my prolactin level was high not because I wanted to punish my husband.
DeleteEya
