Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative

WOW!!!

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE::

RETURNING THE RING FOR FEAR OF BEING EATEN ALIVE....
My bosom friend met a guy from Ngwaa in Abia State and she's from Enugu state. The guy in question loves her so much and worship the ground she walks on. The relationship has been going on well and smooth.

She somewhat knew that le boo wants to wife her anytime soon but the peoblem is that any time she asks someone of how Ngwaa people are, they keep saying that part of igbo is bad. This is because of the old tales of cannibalism they were known for.

Few days ago, the guy surprised her and popped the question in public, she couldn't help but said yes because it was in public. She told her family about it and the dad most especially kicked against it saying, people from Ngwaa are known for eating humans back then in the olden days and the stigma is still there. Even though they claimed to have stopped, they still eat foreigners (people that are not from ngwa). Also said they are wicked and very lazy. They don't take care of their wives.

Now my friend is seriously considering breaking off the engagement and returning the ring. I have talked and advised her that what matters is the guy's personality and his family she's dealing with not the entire village. She hasn't been herself. I have been the one holding her back from returning the ring.

Now my questions are; does this cannibalism of a thing still exist in Ngwaa? Is it true that they secretly do it especially to foreigners (people that are not from there especially the non-abians).

I really want those from Ngwaa to say something about this and women from other states that got married to Ngwa men to tell us their own experience and if any of these is true or still exist.

It's really heartbreaking that the tribalism that exist among the igbos is just too much.

My friend will be reading this as I told her that I have a blog family on SDK that will throw more light on this.

Thanks a lot Stella.

*Errrmm let me read comments please cos i dont know anything about this but why didnt your friend find out about him and register her fear with him when the relationship wasnt serious? Its not fair that she just wants to return the ring like that...why hasnt he eaten her since whilst they were dating?

Na she sabi, one mans poison is another man's meat.

I can swear with my life that they are the best people to have as inlaws. My parents spent their Christmas with us in ngwa land and guess what, they went back alive.
Ps. I visited my husband's village a couple of times before we got married. Never met a more accommodating clan like ngwa ppl. They'll sing and dance to welcome a stranger. This chick jst made me type a lot on SDK. Something I hv never done.

    1. @peace do you just come to stella blog to comment about what u don't know. Am from Abia state and live in Aba which is Ngwa land and also my immediate elder sister have been married to an Ngwa man for 14 yrs. I can tell you there is nothing like that, it does not exist and will never there is no place in Ngwa land that they eat people yes there is a part of Ngwa land known as abala that is bad but that is in stealing and making trouble but they have never been known to kill their visitors. Pls your concern should be about your man and his immediate family

      Delete
    2. The truth is that MOST Ngwa men are really horrible, that doesn't mean that your man is. So you have to first of identify ur man, what kinda person us he and all that.
I was born and bred in Aba so I can tell u first hand what those men are capable of. As for the cannibal issue, yes it happened during those days and RARELY happens now but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen again. I should have love to spill more but I will let it pass, just know this I have experienced the cannibal stuff first hand.
      Cheers!!!

    4. I'm one of the most regular visitor's here but seldom comment. But this one touch me so let me put in a word.

I am an Ngwa man, and yes I grew listening to this Bull crap. Infact at a point I got tired of defending my pple that when u make that statement, I say "YES!!! We eat humans and my best part is d armpit. Especially when well dried and peppered like kilishi" .

But really, I have researched this story, and to the best of my knowledge, it NEVER happened. I believe for some reason,(probably during the war, due to famine) someone might have been caught in the act, but as Igbos/Nigerians that we are, the propagators of the gist just had to generalize.

To madam poster. You never loved the guy enough so return the ring and move on. For ur information, The present governor is Ngwa, and there are uncountable successful businessmen and notable Ngwa men in this country. I'm pretty sure if ur suitor was from one of these families, ur parents would be dancing like Mr Ibu in Psquare's song(bank alert).

I've taken time to read a lot of the comments about the men being lazy and all sort. But I stand to say this is untrue. From my person study of the people, if you would like to hear the truth I will tell you that MAJORITY of the men tend to be very controlling and rigid and generally believe in themselves to be smart(just as a warri person believes "warri no dey carry last) . A lot of the Women can also be strong-willed (stubborn) and daring.

As for being fetish, I have traveled far and wide this country especially the west and just like other tribes, there are still fetish pple, but it is soo soooo less pronounced than it is in other places. In fact they are learners compared to others who I won't mention.

Bottom line, if you wanna marry an Ngwa or any other tribe. Study the person personally and then his family especially if you would be closely relating with each other.

I don't know much about the Ngwaa people and their cannibalistic tendencies. But i have heard that their men do not take care of their wives. Its always the wives that take care of their Hubby's.

A lady I know that was married to an Ngwaa man went through hell. Eventually, he left her after 10 years of marriage. Of course they were also trying to conceive. In as much as there are 2 sides to a story,if you see the guy you won't believe he did those things to her. He beat her a couple of times. He will starve her. Cos she wasn't working and he brought her to abuja. And then he refused to go for checks in the Hosp to ascertain what was wrong or who needed medical help.
One day, he just packed his things and relocated to the east. She tried to get him to see the pastors but he had moved on and told her the marriage had ended. She only moved when the rent was due and couldn't pay or continue to stay there. But that is just one case.

Why can't the lady pray and ask God to reveal the guy or her future with him? There are always exceptions.

  31. Hmm! Poster I have to be honest, although I'm from IMO State. This same incidence happend to my aunt several years ago, my grannies warned her but she didn't listen and now they are showing her shege! After 20yrs of marriage, and yes that part of the country are very diabolical. Now just 3yrs ago my immediate elder sis was engaged to an Ngwa, but my parents said over their dead body, my sis didn't listen to them and quickly took in, did court wedding, my parents have no choice than to give their blessings and continued praying for her, she gave birth to the baby, the baby died, she took in again, gave birth, and this time around it was twins, after 2days they died. Everybody kept telling her to kuku come back home, even that my aunt was telling her to go home, she refused! And the hubby's people were already maltreating her, whenever my mum go for a visit she keeps telling her to come back home, note that both families are very rich oo, we are all based in Lagos. Just last year February she took in again, around November last year, she birthed the child, after few hours the baby died, and she died too. Also note that we are 4 girls and all of us are happily married with kids. We are still mourning her though. So poster like my aunty that has been there for over 20 yrs, she said it better Ngwa-Ngwa, and not Ngwa verses other tribe. It doesn't really work except the man or the family are stuntch Christians. So my sister's incidence taught us a big lesson, because before I don't really believe all these. But now I ve understood. So it is better you let her go with what her mind tells her, advice her to pray fervently about it, if it's God's will why not!

If we all begin to go by all these stigma of a thing then you must always find something bad about a person you want to marry because no state is 100% perfect with out a bad history, why don't she weigh her options, and choose the best because no one is perfect he didn't choose his state or his town so that does not define him.

My former boss is from Ngwa. I have never seen anyone as hardworking as he is. He doesnt joke with the needs of his wife and children. they attend the best schools home and abroad. His wife and children all look very clean and Ajeboish as expected but if you see this boss of mine, he looks exactly like an hussler that he is. never backing down no matter what. in the office then we (himself and we the staffs) would always joke about his tribe eating people. i forgot to mention that we had two other older men from Ngwa in the office too. All of them; superb, funny and hardworking. please let your friend judge this matter subjectively and not collectively.

  39. Discrimination of the highest order exists in Nigeria and by extension to Africa and the rest of the world.
Last time it was Osu people now Ngwaa again. Most tribes have barbaric acts been done in ages past but abolished such and shouldn't be stigmatised for life just like cases of twins killing which is abolished. And it's worrisome some enlightened and even religious folks still dwells on some unnecessary stuff to affect their immediate family.
That been said, I think we can help ourselves earlier before getting things complicated in our relationships. Why wait till engaged or too deep in a relationship before finding necessary information abt our significant others? So wat den do people discuss in their relationship?

They stayed in Lagos till we lost touch (I wonder where she is now sef)

Example 2- My ex-husband's friend and course mate followed an Ngwaa girl he was dating to her village to meet her people after NYSC and that was the last we heard of them till date.
Now, before you say they may have had an accident, his friends, my ex-husband inclusive, looked for the guy, traced their journey up to when they got to the girl's village and that was it, they went with soldiers and all but no trace of them beyond them getting to the village though the villagers denied receiving them. They searched for up to two years before everyone gave up!

Dear poster, we are Africans so forget that talk about marrying the guy and not his village, won't they go home for Christmas? Will they avoid the guy's village forever? Is the guy the type that can avoid his own roots for love? For how long? Is she ready to live with the fear of being eaten for the rest of her life?

Remember,to every myth there's a shred of truth and the heart of man is deep.

  60. I hope you know Ngwa is not as small as you think. You are looking @ 8 local governments including Aba Ngwa. 80% of the people in aba are foreigners and hasn't been eaten. Ojukwu's 1st son married an Ngwa woman from isialangwa sef. A lot of people always make reference to one of their aunt or uncle or grandma said someone they know went to Ngwa land for burial or wedding but has never been found. No one I repeat no one has had a 1st hand experience. All stupidly cooked up story. I will be honest with you as an Ngwa girl whose father is a traditional ruler.
95% of the entire Ngwa land(8 local govnts) are safe. A very small fraction of isialangwa north a place they call Ngwa-ukwu i'm indifferent about. Their traditional ruler is Eze Barnard Enwerenmadu. You have to ask questions. This dosn't mean they are not good people amongst them. Also if her boo is from Nvosi in isialangwa south she should also ask questions. I can only vouche for my place a 100% Ummunna Nsulu. Where the NYSC camp was formally located.

The issue of Ngwa men being lazy is not entirely true. There will always be bad eggs every where. Our women are the most hard-working women I know. Yes Ngwa men can be promiscuous, which tribe won't you find such.
All i'm trying to say is she shouldn't listen to anyone. You have no idea how many Anambra and Enugu men/women are married to Ngwa women/men. We are very accommodating and I trust she will be alright.

My friend married to an Ngwa person in Lagos is not taken care of at even with all the wealth the guy flaunts around. This marriage can only work if the man has strong Christian values. I have another Ngwa friend that is the best father and husband to his wife and children. However, nothing was mentioned about the guy or his family? My experience is a good family will always play critical role in the peaceful co-existence of a marriage.
I'm married to an Imo guy and I tell you if I need to my family's warning, I wouldn't be in the sham. Let's see how the coming days and months play out.
Pls seek God's face on this as no one is in right standing to advise the poster's friend. But find out the real reasons behind your parents opposition.

    Otherwise,

She will live a marital life of fear and no trust for her spouse right beginning from her wedding day
    .
She will walk in the shadow of fear for the rest of her marital life.

Even some romantic gestures will become suspicious...more like, Is he luring me to a death trap? Is he about to eat me?(lol)

    Pray tell, is that life?
