Big Brother Naija 2017 is currently ongoing but sadly/interestingly,the Live show is holding in South Africa....
And Nigerians are being made to watch the show that is purely made in Nigeria... that should have aired for free in Nigeria.....
I am wondering why it was named Big brother Naija.
The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission needs to explain to Nigerians what is going on? Say No to Big brother naija airing live in another Country!
Who does that? it is all shades of wrong abeg!
Or am I the one that doesnt understand?
What is your take on this please?

No light in Nigeria
ReplyDeleteproduction cost would be very high here.
its big brother Nigeria, can someone explain to me without any form of insult what happen to the normal big brother Africa we all know about, you know not everybody is current.
DeleteStella
DeleteSo they would take light and on generator and then we would be hearing the generator sounds ....gbim gbim kram kram kram gbigim gbam kim.
Abegi
Leave them
Do we even have a very good studio, as good as that one being used by them ?
Nne rapu ha aka biko
Stupid you. It's a for profit show, tv & radio stations do 24hours year round broadcasting, what is a few weeks? Look for a good reason, fish joining bandwagon of no light. Ewu sombori!
DeleteMe too I was angry at the beginning. Later I saw reason with them. In a country that I had to pile my clothes for almost a month waiting for light to come so I can do my laundry or else burn fuel to wash it with gen. And it came around 3am I woke quickly to wash and also iron all the clothes I had been stacking, is it same country you want them to air a program that needs 24/7 light and security provision?
DeleteAbeg I hate this country. Nobody knows how much. I should have jettisoned outter this godforsaken place when I had the chance years ago. You can't even plan anything and the plan will go the way u wanted. Fake place. Once u cook and store freezer they will take light for two weeks

There is actually no reason. If you cannot do business with us then don't come for our market. Indomie, gala, cocacola and co still have their companies in Nigeria. What about the Nolly wood that churn out movies everyday? Let the government stop the airing! And let the others learn. Once this trend starts, others will copy. What if every industry follows suit? This thing was started by THE VOICE NIGERIA and I want to believe that it is starting to become a trend.
DeleteNigeria is in its lowest economic state now, little employment, and local productions will add a little boost to our economy, 1million of such productions will do marvelous for our economy. Now this is contributing to further crumbling of our economy cos the viewers and audience is almost 100percent Nigerian. If you feel that you are better than other companies that are still producing in Nigeria, then take your viewing to somewhere else. Afterall, there are harsh conditions in other places in d world, weather, policies etc yet people still struggle and manage them. Nigerian government should not allow this.
So other TV stations working in Nigeria 24/7 is using spirit to power their station abi? People like you are the ones helping the thieves we have in this country to continue stealing because you will always find an excuse for wrong doing s half brain

Anonymous gangster, thanks for that.. They'll be giving stupid excuses....
DeleteIs it not channels that airs every 24hours do we hear the gen sound gra gra gra or grim grim grim?
Are you telling me, we don't have finer edifice to house them abi them no fit build?
Abeg abeg abeg
Please how is that an issue??? They can go live wherever. There are more pressing issues we need to tackle abeg.
ReplyDeleteThis is how we always neglect important issues and we say "there are more pressing issues". This is an important issue also. There are implications for this. If we look at the bigger picture and try to understand, you will realise the implications.
DeleteIt's all shades of wrong. Abeg, it's shameful, when we are trying to stop foreign investors from boycotting Nigeria, Nigerian investors are doing otherwise. Sad!if their excuse is power failure why not approach NEPA or whatever they are called now to have an understanding. Politicians, business investors, individuals all carry our money to foreign lands, how is Nigeria supposed to develop. This is part of what is attributing to the hardship in the land.....
I wonder oooo, how Nigerian leaders are growing our economy(buy naija to grow naija my foot).Buhari travelled out for vacation as if we don't have good places in Nigeria for vacation,as a leader,we should live by example. Now how is this big brother Naija?
Delete👏 Is that so??? Tell me,how important is it?? Does this put food on your table?? Does it send your children to school?? I bet it doesn't. Therefore I don't see why I should let myself be bothered by a private body's decision to take their show to another country afterall when the prize money is won it still won't add value to the nigerian economy.
DeleteIt is the same reason Aisha's kids did not have their university education here in nigeria
DeletePeople like you are the setbacks and hindrance s we have in this country. Light ko light ni so Channels TV is running 24/7 on your spirit
DeleteA million likes , exactly my tots , where do we draw the line and when do we start developing our nation. It should be renamed big brother south africa...
DeletePower is one aspecthing, other infrastructure is also lacking. U do realise that the "house" is really a set, a set that's been wired all over with cameras. Which cement house do u want to be wiring in naij? Add to no light, add to security risk. Ejo, they should probably NOT have done it, considering its BBNAIJA, since the country could not deliver what it takes to have it filmed here. Shikena. A crying shame. To imagine that this is what Tinapa would have been excellent for...where is Tinapa now? Na wa for naija. Na wa.
DeleteWhat a joke!
ReplyDeleteSomeone tweeted something like:
Delete"...same reason buhari goes abroad for medicals"
Savageful!!!
Hahaha savageful indeed
DeleteI agree with them taking it out. Why should they waste money on diesel when the govt has failed to provide something as basic as electricity. If its only for constant electricity, its fine
DeleteMulti choice have been ripping us off since 1900...mtcheew
ReplyDeleteNa star times I dey watch now
Please what channels can a guy enjoy in star times?
DeleteIf not that there is no serious competition, I would have ported since.
DeleteWhat do you expect from a country like ours?
ReplyDeleteAlways selling their birth right and thats why they keep kiling our people over there.
What a shame!
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏
DeleteBisola madam talkative. Same Bisola that participated in the first MTN project fame alongside Iyanya and Praiz over 10 years ago. You still came for big brother in 2017. She talks and eats too much.
DeletePlease do you know how much diesel goes for? They will have to be on gen 24/7.
ReplyDeleteThey show is meant to generate money via those sms. No forex in the country so they won't be able to get their money. Its not a charity show.besides all Big brothers are shot in SA.
You're thinking with your anus, like the dunce I replied above. Think my people, think!
DeleteThey could have looked for ways around it to make their profit. It is like you people do not understand that it is embarrassing to the contry as a whole. How can we encourage foreign investors to come when we are not practicing what we preach. It does not send a good message at all.
DeleteIt's bullshit, after all the extortion. With the very high subscription charges. Then they take the show to SA and the job opportunities which it could have provided for 9ja pple is also lost. Foreign companies keep exploiting us. Please don't talk about the power situation. With all the revenue they have generated from 9ja,they should be able to take care of this.
ReplyDeleteLai Mohammed has already set up an enquiry or committe to look into it.
ReplyDeleteHow about he sets up a committee to tackle the power issue ???
DeleteHow about he sets up a committee to put an end to this hyper inflation that has spun out of control ?
How about he set up a committee to ask where the recovered funds are ?
How about he set up a committee to revive our health care ???
How about that ???
How about he set up an intercessory warfare group to travail in prayer for this nation ???
How about that ???
.
.
OUR politicians enjoy nothing more than MAJORING IN THE MINOR
Thank you mama cee.
DeleteLai Mohammed is just being a nuisance. Why did our president travel to UK for medicals and not govt owned hospitals? Why is baba going to UK for vacation when Jos is also a good spot for vacation at least both places are cold? Why did the indimis' use LV boxes for zahra's eru iyawo when they could as well have used that olden days iron boxes. Abeg these pple should say something meaningful.
DeleteHmmmmm, its wrong but when our country can't provide them with all they need, what can they do? Especially in the electricity aspect.
ReplyDeleteIs not a big deal.
DeleteThe cost of running it here is high n expensive.
The voice was in SA also.
I don't really buy their reasons, anyway they know what they want.
ReplyDeleteA lot of investments have gone into organizing BBNaija. with the constant power failure, how do they make profits airing a show that need 24-7 electricity. Diesel spells for 260 Naira, buying diesel will mean they will spend heavily on electricity alone and the show needs to make profit.
ReplyDeleteThis makes sense sha
DeleteHow much did it cost to fly all those guys to, then fro eventually?
DeleteExactly.. Did they come not to make gain. In a week they will be spendonf 150k for diesel alone
Deleteo .. We are not talking about other things like food and other things
They can find a way around it and still make their profit. The first BB Naija was in Nigeria.
DeleteI believe the reason they are in SA, is because the house and all its facilities they initially prepared for BB Africa is what they don't want to waste since BB Africa did not hold again due to lack of sponsors.
Fab mum tell them let them hear
DeleteAunty Stella, even though say you no like the aunty attached to it. *LOL. You like trouble pass play ooo. How will and how can it be aired in Naija? Don't you know the status of our dear country now? *WOW* MY FIRST COMMENT IN SDK....
ReplyDeleteNo na, anonymous, you've been commenting forever na. Abi you no be anonymous again? Lol joking
DeleteNo na, anonymous, you've been commenting forever na. Abi you no be anonymous again? Lol joking
DeleteI was surprised too myself.
ReplyDeleteSomeone said its probably 'cos of constant power over there.
So much for nation building. SMH.
To me there is norring there!!! They are saving cost, naija no light. Cost of gas\petrol too too expensive!!! Warof food????
ReplyDeleteAbeg I don't watch it but the producers tot deep and smart!!!!
I disagree. You hav vexed me, pls leave my head, am no more eating ur shaki.
DeleteI don't like the fact that it was taken to SA
ReplyDeleteOur people should be trying small in covering our shame na.
Then they came out and explained it was cos of light. I understand it. NEPA and their wahala.
But then again what happened to alternative power supply? There are inverters aren't there?
Light is ok but I susbstitute with Inverters. Many Nigerians do. So they can't tell me they don't know what Inverters are. Get a solar panel and get a Gen set and it wil be all smiles.
I just feel they tooo it there cos they wanted The SA audience and u and I know that That translates to. Simple.
D only sensible comment they need the south African audience
Delete@Generalswife inverter will not carry fridge, washing machine, microwave etc
DeleteInverter is only for lights and TV only
SA is the best place for the show.
I love you more & more daily!
DeleteBig brother is a Dutch franchise. It is by no means Nigerian. Nigerians just like to pick on easy prey. The fact some part of most things we consume in Nigeria is produced elsewhere. DSTV will still carry their money to SA every year. Somebody invested in this franchise they have the right to make independent decisions. For all we know it might not even be a Nigerian.
Delete@misslyn,no dearie. Inverters aren't only for lights and Tv only. Inverters carry washing machines, air conditioners, freezers, fridges,CCTV,etc.
Delete@Anonymous?lol
My guy! My main guy! Sup boo?
I wish u would be more consistent. You know that they say? Out of sight is..... lol
But seriously I hope you are good dear. Many things I wanna tell u but dunno where to start. It's Bn long u see. There is this guy,Elastic. He makes me laugh soo much😂Ikwakwakwakwa
My boo,my boo! Pls show face more offen jare.
Is. It not with light that they will charge inverter?? Abi how will they charge it if thru give light for 3 hrs? Have you seen all the appliances In big brother?? Inverter can't carry all that
DeletePlease stop with the inverter cant carry this and that. There are different capacities of inverters. There are some that would conveniently power an AC [1.5hp or 2hp self], fridge and the usual lights, ceiling fan, etc.
DeleteIf they were to use inverters in the house it obviously wouldn't be one. How to charge? Ever heard of Solar panels/energy? Besides generators can charge inverters, no?
If they really wanted to do this here, they would have and that's the truth. The show is to make profit and not an NGO. Do you have any idea how much they rake in ratings alone? TV stations, malls don't run on 24/7 electricity or what? Cause suddenly electricity is a major issue. Hasn't it always been a problem?
Then all these people with kidnappings, book haram, etc. Is the house supposed to be built in Sambisa forest or what?
Sounds wrong on paper, but in reality it cannot be held in Nigeria! Reason: no power!!! It's gonna cost them a whole lot to keep power on 24/7 for 72 abi 90 days. The price of diesel is high even then sometimes u won't even find diesel. Power for d house, power for the cameras, power for the Sunday live shows. Common pls let's leave sentiments and face d reality of d situation. No be everyth we go open mouth dey complain about.
ReplyDeleteThe one that had Katung and ebuka shey it was done in 9j? So go figure why it's different now
They no light in naija now so how will they run the show?
ReplyDeleteSimple logic. People should not watch it. Why organize it in SA. I don't support it
ReplyDeleteThey already have a house they use in SA, complete with all the electric gadgets and cameras etc. Getting a new house in Naija will cost more money plus the issue of constant blackout.
ReplyDelete1000 likes... why will they organize it in 9ja when DSS can storm there at any time just because of PDA. Nigeria is a lawless country. We are not practising democracy
DeleteLol @ when DSS can storm there at any time just because of PDA.
DeleteThey already had a house in SA. Simple. And it was cheaper than building a new house anywhere because they want to maximize profit. Not all this there's no light, no water, bad roads excuses I've been seeing since.
DeleteI think they did so cos of buhari and his fellow sharia brothers. They wouldn't allow such show in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteStella Becos cost of airing it in Nigeria is way high... it doesn't matter where they air it.... am just angry I can't watch d show Becos of dis stupid Nysc... count down to October jor...
ReplyDeleteStupid Nysc?
DeleteIf they didn't mobilize you it would have been an issue. I'm sure they live stream in case you wish to watch. You don't have to blame Nysc for your inability to watch bbnaija like seriously.
Seriously Nysc is stupid. No need to argue. Thank God I can pay those hungry officials 3k to get my life going and do more important things. Useless Nysc. Why zara buhari never do am? I can't stress myself abeg
DeleteAs for me, BBNaija is least of our worries and this is a clear case of mispriorities however i read the decrees or acts of BON (broadcasting organization Of nigeria) which in summary says that it must be 20% Nigerian content and 10% African content so invariably it was still done in an african country which is the 10% and it is even more than 20% Nigerian, so please no cause for complains...
ReplyDeleteInitially I was upset about it but when you think about the cost implication I don't blame them. This should be a wake-up call for us in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteThat's to show you how low Nigerian is sinking.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of producing BBN in Naija is freaking high.
In Nigeria, power outage is a constant issue. Some people haven't had light for 2weeks straight. Some others 1month +
Now let's see to a hypothetical analysis- if I run my diesel gen for 19hours a day at the cost of 480k, pray tell how much that would translate to in 24hours x 72days. About 40something million right?
That's electricity alone.
The cost of feeding the housemates, toiletries and other expenses have not been estimated yet.
Now how much is the grand prize again? 25million and a brand new car.
Profit over loss =...........
So you see?
What do you conclude?
A shame right?
Yeaaa, it's a shame that in Nigeria, basic amenities seem so much luxury
SMH.
nawaa for this people. is a private business and i will chose any location i want.. why not asked all the movie producers why they go abroad to shoot their movies,eg 30 day in Atlanta, trip to Jamaica osofia in london and some other movies. they will shoot the movies abroad and still premier and sell it in Nigeria cinemas . still no body is talking, abeg make i hear word abi will u control me on how to run my business or the name i will give my show or it becos it called Big Brother Nigeria. it can still be renamed and Nigerians will still watch it.... nonesense..
ReplyDeleteBoko Haram, herdsmen, Niger delta, opc, plenty of kidnappers, no 24hours light. Just check all this out, if kidnapper go kidnap dem dey demand for #1b each wetin go happen abeg leave dem where dem dey, dey are safe jor
ReplyDeleteLol.. Abi o.
DeleteStella are you also blogging in naija,
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice all the old hags in the show, many ols guys and girls, more like gwegs, that show is supposed to be for younger people
ReplyDeleteAll shades of wrong no be lie but then again our country naija does not have what it takes to host them proper na. Sad one indeed but bitter truth jare.
ReplyDeleteStella please make enquiries before you make a post like this
ReplyDeleteWe have been on your blog complaining the situation of Nigeria everyday and you still say this??
Do you know having light for 3hrs is a luxury? That means they have to power the house with diesel generator.. And if time is not taking, theu will have to power for 24hours.. Do you know diesel sells for about 250 per litre? Do you know that to run diesel for 24hrs you need about 80 to 100 litres of diesel. Now that's about 20k to 25k everyday for diesel, multiply that amount by 1 week gives you 140k to 150k weekly then by the 12 weeks thEy are staying And see what they are spending on diesel alone. Then talk about food that is overly expensive. And other things. Why do you think manufacturing companies keep folding in Nigeria.? Why do you think people go to China to manufacture things and bring it to sell in Nigeria? Why do you think the cost of living is high. Dollar is almost 500 Naira and you want them to shoot here what profit is in it for them or you think they don't want to make profit.
So allow them go to South Africa, infsct if they will get cheaper services in China, theu should go there..
No one opens a business to loose. No one should loose in business because they want to do good in the nation. Most foreign companies in Nigeria have gone back to their country. Becausr theu were loosing. Companies are downsizing and things are going rough and you want them to be here.
Right on the money.
DeleteThe Voice Nigeria was shot in SA if im not mistaken.
DeleteI totally agree with all you have said "Fab mum".
DeleteI use FG Wilson 22KVA and I spend 26k each day to always have 100liters of deisel on standby because the gen runs basically all day as there is never light.
In a month that's 780k or so. I honestly do not fault them for taking the show to SA.
They air it in south Africa to save cost.
ReplyDeleteNo light 247, No good road, no good food only cucumber, kidnapping on the increase. In short wetin concern me self. Bye bye to 198 for me. I no watch again.
ReplyDeleteCan Nigeria guarantee them 24/7 electricity?
ReplyDeleteCan Nigeria provide cheap diesel for them.
Can they bring in all their crew and heavy machinery without customs asking them for bribe.
Can they afford the dollar cost of production at N500 to 1dollar.
Can they guarantee the safety of their production crew and staff, without fear of kidnapping, robbery and extortion.
The fact is Nigerian economy is not sustainable for business at all, the country is in real mess.
well its big brother south Africa to me
ReplyDeleteAny 1 watched yesterday? Did uriel not misinterpret what biggie told her about the don't touch card. I think she lied about giving up immunity for 2 weeks. Besides i dont really care where its aired. Nigeria is so fucked up. I have no light to watch right now. Exhausted my fuel yesterday.

ReplyDeleteI think is completely wrong from every ramification, yes cost of logistics would be higher in Nija but then it is worth it cos the highest viewership comes from Nija and it is also a Nigerian brand. yes if the brand Nigeria doesn't influence their profit base they could as well have tagged it big brother SA, The list they could have done is to re circle the proceeds regardless of production cost cos either way they will still make profit.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that God will not come down to rule this country for us. He is TOO BIG. He has given us brains to use but we keep electing numb-skulls into sensitive positions. Dubai was sand not too long ago, if you haven't been there yet, you need to add it to your bucket list. It is beautiful. They used their brain and their resources. The same thing God gave us. Another huge problem nigeria has is THE PEOPLE, they never see anything good in this country and are always cursing the land Jehovah gave them to build, how can you prosper in a land you curse everyday? Sometimes i just wonder if nigerians are an offshoot of the biblical israelites. They complain and murmur against God and life too much, very few praise God from the heart, most just pay lip service to praise. Nigerians by and large worship mammon. Money is their god. Jehovah sees and knows that most of you worship mammon and glory will continue to depart from the country until there is genuine return to Him. Haven't you all wondered why the country is the way it is upon all the millions of churches that abound? Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't in support about it before, but seriously I don't know how they would have survived 11weeks in this my beloved country to do that show na na na
ReplyDeleteNa so! Copy copy ppl d show is so dryyyyyyyyyyy. Just 10 contestants!
ReplyDeleteAnon 10.43 that asked if Stella is blogging in naija, you are right.
ReplyDeleteStella imagine if you have to blog at home daily and for the whole day you are home, there is no light. You have to be on gen, the cost ehnnnn.
Then you open window for fresh air bcos u want to minimise fuel for AC later. you start hearing noise all over the place.
You start ur best and start blogging. You now leave home at 12 to go pick ur kids. You spend like 3hrs on Island traffic.
You get home, no lite, no water. You on gen again, pump water and start struggling with making lunch/dinner. Bcos of no lite some foods have spoilt.
This country get problem abeg.
Our leader is presently in UK relaxing. Why didn't he go to obudu cattle ranch.
lol, @obudu cattle ranch. I think the man just can't be bothered. he will wait till 2018 to start working so clueless idiots can't vote him in again . he seems wicked and heartless. in his mind he will be like u guys should keep complaining,no shaking.
DeleteI don't think he has the best interest of nigeria at heart. their own was just to see Jonathan out of power. clueless lots
Please anyone who has 100k he/she's not using for 6 months should borrow me let me pump into my business. Ejoor e shanu mi
ReplyDeleteUr soldier man no give u money after he don pound ur pussy finish......hoeloshi!!!
DeleteThey should change the name to big brother south Africa na.abi them no go get market?
ReplyDeleteThe house mates are Nigerian and that's what matters. Truth is our country isn't a convenient place to shoot. The cost of diesel alone will fly all the housemates to sa and have some change. And what about if scarcity starts in the middle of thier shoot. How about the location. Where will they find an J expensive lounge like that... thier heads will be cut off with price. Who are the producers ?if they are south Africans of cos they will shoot in thier country. Abeg we have more problems in baskets face it
ReplyDeleteStella at first I was mad as hell, but let's look at it, cost of living in Nigeria is high (housemates have to eat) no 24 hours power supply (more expenses) NOTHING is working in Nigeria, and these guys are in business to make profit...I'm Nigerian and I'm a 100% behind #BBN holding in SA
ReplyDeleteWhy will it be in Naija when d president is not even in naija.. Fucked up country
ReplyDeleteBecause the President should be in Nigeria all the time? That's not a valid argument jo
DeleteThe show is a mess and nothing to teach. The only reality show I like and miss is Gulder Ultimate Search.
ReplyDeleteThis is the problem small business owners deal with.
ReplyDeletePower!
Alot of Nigerians are willing to work in this country, but half of their problems lie in this issue.
So instead of discussing Multi choice and their investment choices.. Let the federal government focus on giving us constant light.
Apart from light.. the insecurity in the country will not even allow them sleep with their two eyes closed.
This is business.. not sentimental.
Let me not even rant about Multichoice and their 'exploits' in this country. Story for another day.
hnmmmmmmmm, God help Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteI wont watch. It's unfair. Broadcast in naija and reduce the prize money . Manage what we have. Guinness and other companies are still producing in Naija.
ReplyDeleteThe housemates are too elderly . Over aged housemates. You. Did project fame years ago. Nwanne want are you still doing in that house.
ReplyDeleteSame reason our able president Buhari went abroad for treatment/vacation. He should just die there. Acting up like an Active snail. Stella the situation of things in Nigeria is bad very bad. Nothing good is coming out of this government. So they should buy how many liters of diesel cos of BBA naija
ReplyDelete#Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you'll never, ever have enough*
ReplyDeleteShameless people in government.....do they want kidnappers to kidnap the participants and crew members of BBA ni or they want them to buy diesel for 78days non stop or that they should go and queue to buy gas.......This scam change APC government should revive our wobbling economy before talking rubbish
ReplyDeleteFor those that have power let them waste it on bb naija.
ReplyDeleteAs am typin this ryt now kosi phcn lite and u re telling me if I turn on my gen na bb naija/south africa I will burn my fuel on.
O di mma.
Continue
No light in Nigeria abi? Agreed, but Multichoice refused to relocate their offices to SA, lame excuse to me. If they still run their businesses here, clearly they are making profit.
ReplyDeleteI see a lot of sentiments here and its obvious quite a lot of the people here are oblivious to what it takes to run a business in Nigeria. The government offers no support whatsover to businesses in this country,we are talking about multiple taxation, the time it takes to obtain basic approvals (which u have to pay bribes for) cost prohibitive logistics expenses...You will hire Mopol, feed and accommodate them and fight like a mad dog to repatriate your dollars assuming you make any profit. Have you asked yourself why BBN hasn't shown in ten years? From NBC,to Senate/Mass, and even vendors and suppliers to the program kept blackmailing them and forcing them to shut down. We should fix these problems that send investors/investments out of our shores and s to playing to the gallery. Nigeria is ranked 168th in the Ease of doing business index. 168!!! Do you have any idea how abysmally poor that ranking is. For those of you that don't know...THE VOICE NIGERIA WASN'T SHOT IN NIGERIA.
