The erstwhile incumbent, Adams Dabotorudima, resigned today (Friday, December 30, 2016).
It may be recalled that Dabotorudima’s predecessor in office, Mr. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, resigned on Friday, December 18, 2015, shortly after Governor Nyesom Wike presented the N307bn Appropriation Bill for 2016 before the House.
Ibani was succeeded by Dabotorudima, who represented the Okrika constituency, the same Rivers East Senatorial District as Wike.
And now, Dabotorudima has toed the path of his predecessor in office.

ReplyDeleteHe held the office in trust while the former speakers election was nullified
ReplyDeleteThe owner of the office is now back after
He was re elected
Thank you my dear , the former speaker came back after the rivers re-run election. So he resigned peacefully and gave the seat back to him .......Shikena !!!
DeleteIf una no sabi , make una ask those wen dey rivers state .
Correct
Delete*just thinking aloud* what if its a threat to life from the opposition party. Perhaps they must have sworn that no pdp member will occupy that position
ReplyDeleteThe previous speaker resigned because PDP got information that the Court of Appeal was going to nullify the election of almost every member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, including the Speaker. Therefore, the assembly members played a fast one on Apc and decided that the speaker should resign and hand over to someone that had no court case at all.
ReplyDeleteHon Adams was made speaker, and true to the information APC succeeded in nullifying almosy every House of Assembly member election. Had the assembly members not moved fast, Rivers state would have been without a speaker. Because after the nullification, the assembly was left with only 5 members which is not enough to appoint a speaker.
Now the Speaker has won his election and has been sworn in, Hon Adams had to resign and the Previous Speaker took over again.
We are 1000 steps ahead of them. So it is nothing dramatic.
