The Federal Government has declared Monday, December 12 as public holiday to mark the Eid-El Maulud (birth of Prophet Muhammad) celebration.

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to cooperate and join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, as he works tirelessly to build a strong, united and peaceful nation.

Mr. Dambazau urged all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace across the nation, while calling on all to be patient and supportive of the present administration for the successful implementation of its laudable programmes.

  14. yinmu, there is no place in d Quran that it is stated that the prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) celebrated his birthday, this act is an innovation, which is bidd'ah. No hadith, sunnah, or Quran proof to back eid maulud. Even d sahabas ( followers of d prophet) were never reported to have celebrated it. may God lead us to d straight path.

  29. Must everything be in the Quran? Can't Muslims decide to honor their prophet by celebrating his birthday without it being in the Quran? Extremist bookie Lee, abeg carry your sko sko go front and allow us enjoy the holiday. Even as a christian, I enjoy Muslim holidays
