Pulse correspondent at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport reports that the reception of the team was appalling, but noted that the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick was present at the airport to welcome the players.
It would have been expected that the team would receive a jamboree-like welcome, considering the accolades that trailed their victory on Saturday, December 3.
President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara among other prominent Nigerians and soccer lovers had congratulated and praised the players via press releases and social media platforms.
The Super Falcons had defeated the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon by a lone goal to clinch the 2016 AWCON trophy.
