This is so annoying!
PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim’s mother, Adeola, had been taken to Oyekanmi’s residence last Saturday when she went into labour.
Oyekanmi, while attempting to force the delivery, was said to have pulled off the baby’s hand.
She was said to have advised that the child be taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital, where the dead child was finally delivered.
Doctors at the hospital were reported to have queried the baby’s parents on what truly transpired, and they opened up.
The hospital management then alerted the police to the incident.
A source said Oyekanmi was picked up by the police.
The source said, “What happened was that the auxiliary nurse tried to deliver the woman of the baby, during which there was a complication. But she continued and in the end, the hand of the baby was pulled off while she tried to force the child out from the mother’s womb.
“Afterwards, they quickly packed the woman together and brought her to the general hospital. It had become a critical case by then. The remains of the dead child were brought out, while the matter was reported to the police.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing.
She said, “The doctor at the hospital discovered that something was amiss after taking a close look at the dead child and seeing that one hand had been pulled off. All the parties were invited to make statements. It is a case of infanticide; investigations are ongoing.”
The spokesperson for the state’s Ministry of Health, Adeola Salako, promised to get back to our correspondent, but she had yet to do so as of press time.

Child birth is d most delicate thing in this life that needs to be free I mean hw can u pay money for bringing a life to this world?
Oga cool down, cost of delivery in our general hospitals is not too high, the auxiliary nurse also charges for her service.
DeleteIt's ignorance more than poverty in a lot of cases. She lives in ikorodu and there is a general Hospital there.
May the soul of her baby RIP
Rubbish, pull off the baby hand gross, they should be dealt with
ReplyDeleteNurse eliza
ReplyDeleteEnd time nurse.
ReplyDeleteEnd time nurse.....she wan chop the hand?
ReplyDeleteThe baby's hand was pulled off? Jeez!!! So horrific.
ReplyDeleteeven if the parents didn't have money to afford a good clinic, what about health centre or general hospital? Some of these parents only have themselves to blame.
May the baby RIP.
I blame the woman full time. She must have registered in the hospital and went to the nurse in order to cut cost. Mtchew. An innocent baby, died just like that. Some nurses are good in taking deliveries anyway.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Poor child, devilish nurse
ReplyDeleteKai! Real nurse Eliza itk. The mum that took her daughter there should be arrested too.
ReplyDeleteThings are really happening out there..God have mercy.
ReplyDeleteEnd time nurse, rip child

Dum Spiro spero.
Quack nurses everywhere. This is the end result of poverty. So saddening.
ReplyDeleteIt's well.
Ewo...You mean she pulled off the baby's hand as in detached it from the baby's body? Oh dear.😔😔😔
ReplyDeletePoverty is truly a disease.
ReplyDeleteIf they were not poor they wont have cause to visit this quack nurse. The nurse may not even be a registered certified nurse maybe she is all these type that stand and 'learn work' from other nurses like its hair dressing they are learning.
I feel pity for the parents. Let them put an end to child-bearing if they already have kids. In this economy even ppl with money are managing just 2kids.
No dear.
DeleteEnd time nurse indeed!
ReplyDeleteChai dis is rili sad.
