Dalung, Pinnick Allegedly ignore Protesting Falcons And fly to London to sign new Nike deal

As the senior national women’s team the Super Falcons continue their sit-in protest in Abuja over unpaid bonuses and allowances after their 8th AWCON triumph in Cameroon, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, NFF President, Amaju Pinnick and the chairman of the League Management Company of Nigeria (LMC), Mallam Shehu Dikko are off to London to sign a new kit sponsorship deal for the Super Eagles with sports wear manufacturing giants, Nike.

Although the NFF had before the tournament pledged to pay the Falcons bonuses and allowances for qualifying, the team played and won without bonuses and allowances paid. They have since embarked on a protest following their return from Cameroon.

One of the players told BBC Sport that their sit-in at the Agura hotel in the capital will not end until they receive all bonuses, which totals US$23,650 (about N11.5m) per player. “We are not leaving this hotel and we have not been told exactly when we are going to get paid,” the player, who insisted on anonymity, told BBC Sport. “The plan is to stay here until we all receive the money because the moment we leave there will be no opportunity to get it again.” from vanguard

    1. I just hope they don't tell our girls to pay for their hotel stay. It's crazy that after what the ladies went through to win we can't even honour and give them what was promised. So insensitive, your players are angry and you go sign kit deals. What's the priority here?

  6. Is this a recession thing or a feminine thing? If it was the super eagles, will they treat them that way even when they won the tournament? It's so wrong!

  7. Heartless ministers! I just feel bad for my Falcons.
I wish I have the means to single handedly sponsor Nigerian athletes, I would have done it with all pleasure. Because I hate seeing athletes feeling disappointed after making our country proud. They went there to represent Nigeria, they conquered and won the crown; yet they're not being care for the way they deserve.

These officials should resign already. #vexing.

  14. It's sad the way both of them are destroying Nigeria Football. They should be shown the back door.
That "Man O' War" Minister is one of PMB worst Ministers. They have destroyed sports in Nigeria. The case of sacking Amaju will be hard, instead of him leaving NFF, Amaju will drag the NFA to FIFA until they are tired of him. He is FIFA spy within NFF.

He's got enormous connection within FIFA that no NFA official have, quote me.
His main target before he will resign is becoming CAF President without CAF President or FIFA high ranking post he is not going anywhere soon. He started well as chairman but lost it along the way.

  16. Buhari, why is this man still the sports minister?

  17. I cant believe that this man Solomon Dalung is a sports minister or a minister at all . I almost passed out when he was appointed. This man was in my law class in the University of Jos (2000) , and he was so dirty and dull looking and could barely speak English. I'd be shocked if he passed out with anything more than a pass. Nigeria is finished am sure he was appointed for merely being from Buhari's village.
