Hello Stella kudos for the great work.
Anyway labour for me was not so bad. I was induced at 39 weeks as my genealogist was quite liberal with me.
Got to the hospital around 1pm.After settling in the delivery room, i had something inserted inside my vee. I guess it was to open my cervix as i was just 1cm dilated. My sister was with me all through as hubby was in Nigeria. So she kept checking the babys heart rate for me and cheering me up.
I had so much to eat at the hospital even though i had heard about women not eating when they are almost having a baby. Well the nurses kept telling my gynea said i could eat whatever. So i ate through out .
So at about 12midnight, i slept for a while and i woke up shivering. The next thing the Anesthesiologist came in to administer my epidural. See me shivering, i was terrified at some point i held on to the nurse so tight.

The Anesthesiologist just said to me ''woman please comport your self because you move, you paralyse" in her mexican accent. I was scared because i didnt want anything to happen. Guess what? I had no clue when she give it to me cause i felt nothing.
I began to dilate faster and faster but at some point i began to feel pains around my abdomen. I thought i had been duped as i kept muttering to my sister '' this epidural thing isnt working mehn'' even though i couldnt feel my legs. So one of the nurses inserted pain killer in my drip. I know she administered it twice or so.

I kept breathing in n out. I guess i got used to the pain killers but i was refused as soon as i was fully dilated. The silly nurse didnt even have the nerve to tell me. she just told my sister the baby was coming but they both kept playing me. Shortly after my water broke.
When it was time to push i became so thirsty. My legs were wide open with my male gynae in front of me. In my mind i was like see how this one just they look person yansh any how. So i was given ice cubes to chew instead. I remember spitting on the doctors face and he just wiped it with tissue and he kept telling me to push.

Then this fowl smell took the whole room.i pooped like a baby and my sis had this funny look on her face like ewww. But i didnt know when the poo came out cause i had epidural. My sister kept shouting puuuuuuuusssssshhhhhh, push this baby out mehn and the doc was like 'thats the spirit thats what i'm talking about'. i was like what is wrong with these ones now?. After about three pushes my son was born at 3:59 am. He weighed 6pounds 9ounces. He was as white as a snow man.
My sister was ecstatic but i was just so glad the drama was over. I didnt cry o i was just looking at my son like a stranger cause it all happened so fast and it was all surreal. I never got to see him again till the next morning as i was moved to the recovery room. I bonded with him as soon as he was brought to me in the morning. I was so happy to hold him properly for the first time.
My son is 2 years old now and he's my world, my everything. Post partum was awesome. My stomach went down drastically as soon as he was born. In 2 weeks my body was fully back. Motherhood is amazing.

*Wow you spit on the Doctors face? Did he do anything?Because if you were not feeling any pains or shouting and crying then i wonder why you did that.na wah....i sure say you for slap your hubby if he was there..lol
You see why giving birth outside niajs is better.epidural helps everything.the pain is less. And you can choose to opt out of using it.here in naija I heard epidural is so expensive.so you just near the pains.congrats poster

DeleteAs at 2013.. epidural in a good hospital I know was 50k, I guess it would have remained the same or slightly higher if not for the current state of affairs in the country.
DeleteI don't know how much it is now.. but I don't think there will be a 💯% increment.
It's also expensive abroad. So your basis for comparison is....bleh!' If u have money u can do it anywhere. If u are poor in Nigeria, u would def be poor abroad. So sharrap!
DeleteAnd pain isn't forever but with her epidural she didn't tell us about her after birth pain
DeleteTrinity: epidural is even cheaper here in naija nd yes they administer it if u so wish. In the US, it could cost up to $1000 if not more sef
Delete@anon 15:54 thank you.thought it was cheaper abroad
DeleteI remember I was thirsty too. I was given a few sips.
DeleteNa #GODWIN... Oya invite Korede Bello

DeleteGod bless all women
ReplyDeletePls pardon my curiosity, but does it mean if u're given epidural u'll not feel any pains till u deliver? If datz d case, if someone sees d mucous plug even without pains, can d person rush to d hospital for epidural? Cos dis kind pain wen una dey describe so ehn no be here.
ReplyDelete#People cry, not because they're weak. Its because they've been strong for far too long*
ReplyDeleteI really tried to understand if this was humourous or you were being serious...
ReplyDeleteWhy was the nurse silly?
Why did you spit on the doctor?

ReplyDelete250k kwa???? I gave birth in ph 2015 march. I used epidural and it was 60k
DeleteSounds easy as ABC
ReplyDeleteGenealogist kwa? Ancestor nko. Oyibo doctors are nice. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI had my baby in the abroad and I pd $250 for epidural alone.
ReplyDeleteU spat on the doctors face and u'r even saying it when u weren't going thru any sort of pain.......u'r a very nasty lady
ReplyDeleteHmmnnnn.... I read with my heart in my mouth till I got to the last two or three paragraph. Stella, that your WHY I saw before opening the post got me nervous.
ReplyDeleteCongrat poster
God bless our offsprings.
ReplyDeleteThings docs and nurses see from we mothers ehn, poster thank God for u and ur baby.
ReplyDeleteYou spat on a doctor doing all he can for you to deliver safely and you are proudly saying it? Evil woman!na you first start to born? Onye iberibe
ReplyDeleteThat's so gross! Why did you spit on the doctor's face? Meanwhile, thank God for safe delivery anyway.
ReplyDeleteBy the way,a friend told me she lost her sister in law while she was giving birth (her third child for that matter) and I just keep thanking God for the safe deliveries I read here everyday. It's a pity though. May God deliver us all.
I also did epidural sept 2015 in Nigeria, delta state and was 150k.
ReplyDeleteHello stella, i didnt spit in his face intentionally. Remember i said i was given ice and i was breathing in and out at the same tyme hence the reason why i spat in his face. For those asking epidural for me did the magic and i would take it over and over again.the only after pain was when my tear was healing which is quite normal.
ReplyDeleteAnd she didn't spit saliva. The is she was eating flew out while breathing in and out
