Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative...

This is so unfair...ah ah!!!

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
WICKED BOSS

Good day Stella ....
Please i want to share my dilemma with you and my fellow beevees to know your opinion on this matter.

I'm typing this in tears because it's really demoralizing. Ever since I got pregnant my boss has been antagonizing me and insulting me whenever he feels like it. He wasn't exactly good to me when I joined the company but wasn't bad either,my colleagues and i know him to be that way.

I got pregnant sometime last year and when i started showing he threatened to fire me but for the intervention of my direct boss who begged him to allow me continue with my work because I'm really good at what I do and I practically work like a 'jacky' because I do the job of 5people without complaints (the Chairman doesn't employ many people but would rather combine job roles into one for each staff)and also I needed the salary which wasn't much but i was able to pay my bills and i really thank God for it.

When I was 7months he forcefully placed me on 3 months maternity leave with half of my salary.I thanked God for the half salary because I didn't expect it. After the 3 months elapsed I resumed work when my baby was 1month and few weeks,I got her formula because I couldn't afford to get breast pump to express milk at the time and i hired a nanny to help take care of her from 8 pm to 5:30 pm and we agreed that I will pay her N15,000 which is the norm in my locality.

At the end of the month i resumed I expected to get my full salary but was paid half of it, I complained to my direct boss and he said I shouldn't ask the chairman about it yet since the company was tight on cash and i was the only person that was paid so I won't come across as being insensitive although he sensed something was wrong. I managed myself with the money, paid my baby's nanny her 15k and was left with 17,500 which finished within 2weeks.

I had to go borrowing to sustain till the end of the month when I will get my salary for the next month but lo and behold I still got thesame half salary while others got full salary. I spoke with my direct boss in tears because It was painful, why will he be treating me like this when I joined the company with Msc and i had high (yeah some of you will say who Msc. Epp) but it wasn't easy for me. I called the Chairman (he doesnt have an office in our branch), he said the reason im being paid half if my salary is due to recession and said if i wasnt ok with i should submit my resignation letter.

Why did he allow me to work for 2months without a prior notice that he'll be paying me half of my salary henceforth?

Telling me its due to recession is not true because we are presently handling a huge project which cost some billions. Secondly im the only person whose salary was slashed. Many thoughts flooded my mind on how I would survive in this recent hardship with just half of my salary. How do I take care of my baby?If nanny takes 15k and I'm left with 17500 within 2weeks of buying diaper, baby milk, feeding, buying water and other miscellanous things etc

I wish to know the opinions of my fellow beevees whether to continue with the job pending when I get something better or leave the job that sends me to zero account balance after 2weeks.

I know there are no jobs out there but this is sheer wickedness on my boss' part, now everything is being blamed on recession whether it is true or not.

Thanks and God bless.
Bv Baby blu

    2. Madam di gi kwanu? (Your husband or baby daddy)
Am sure you did not impregnate yourself, and you know bvs c will ask.

If you have working hubby/baby daddy that provides, please manage it, and start looking for another job. Don't quit this until you get something, at least it solves your nanny's problem, meaning is better than nothing.

    3. This is really bad. Send out your cv Jarey(but still hold on to this job till u are sure), most companies like msc candidates that have experience which u have. Don't worry God will send u a better offer.

    4. Is your boss a religious extremist because he must have picked on you as a pregnant sinner without husband.
If that is the case he won't change and will soon fire you.

    3. Leave the job, because @ the end of the month calculating your transport fare and other expenses to job, you will run @ lost and still have to borrow , with you @ home, u don't need nanny, the little your husband provide manage with your baby. Leave you boss to CARMA ,soon they will half is own salary too.

    4. Your story sounds very one sided. I'm sorry but perhaps there was an employment clause about pregnancy. The fact that it was outside of marriage doesn't help your case. It's best you get another job

    1. When you people say 'there are no jobs out there' is it a prayer, or a curse or a fact? Or are you staying based on your experience? Because for some of the BVs I've personally interviewed, hehehhe there will most likely 'be no jobs' for them.

Poster, leave the job. But before you do, have a one on one talk with you boss. Try understand what his issue with you or your situation really is. If he can't say, then you have to leave. Cos this would be the beginning of drama.
I'm not saying it's going to be easy, I'm not saying you will get another job almost immediately, and I'm not saying there's no recession. All I'm saying is:
      1. Your place of work is becoming psychologically damaging to you. It will affect you in other ways, and then your baby.
      2. Your salary can't sustain you and as it is, you will be incurring costs trying to keep the job. Funds that can be used for other things. Transport, lunch at work etc. what is the point if your salary can't even sustain you for the rest of the month.
      3. If you quit, you can fire the maid and save money.
      4. If you know your onions and are hardworking, you will get something. And hopefully not something as dehumanizing as this. It's better to start with small salary on a new job that watch your former salary drop without review. You're handling a huge project so you can see that that's no excuse. your company operates under a high level of power culture. So no one can convince the boss. He takes the decision and he won't change.

In life there are time when we must take tough decisions. This is one of them. I won't share my testimonies of unhappy employment situation turning around 360 deg., before angry people will say I'm bragging. But honey, when it's time to leave you know it's time to leave. 😊

    2. By the way,are you a baby mama? That may be what's upsetting your boss. That youfot pregnant out of wedlock. Jez thinking out loud. You know some SME owners infuse their personality in the way they run their business. If he's one of them, then check again

Anyways, hang in there, atleast u have a job no matter d pay cos if u resign, it will be hard unless.....

  5. You obviously work with a one man private firm and this is how many of them act.
Keep working and managing while you be on the lookout for another one but I won't be surprised if he fires you before you get another one.
If you know the work will also prevent you from going for interviews better leave it now on your own because getting sacked will make all this effort go to waste and will be useless to your CV.
If you have family or friends that can sustain you pending when you get another job then leave so you can intensify and face job hunting squarely.
    All the best

    1. Its simple. resign and stay at home. Fire your nanny as you can't afford her services. Invest the little you have. Someone already advised MMM. Ain't nothing wrong with that either so you can save enough capital for business.

I wont ask after baby daddy. It's obvious he's not "there".

  63. My dear sis, I feel your pain. Keep going and keep praising God in advance for a new and better place. Something similar happened to me. My second baby was born preterm with undeveloped lungs and was always falling ill. I applied for an unpaid leave at my office in August so i could take her for proper treatment. The leave was approved. 16th of August, I lost her and informed my office. They were sympathetic and told me to take the whole of September off as bereavement period. I sent a mail that I wanted to resume after the Sallah break but the insisted that I should stay home all through September. You can imagine my shock when when I got a mail on the 30th of September terminating my employment!

Till now they are yet to pay me my one month salary in lieu of notice. My pensions for the period i was with them hasn't been paid, same for PAYE and leave allowance. Just be strong, hold on to God and HE will open new doors for you. It is well with you.

  83. Reading comments from some BVs show there is little indepth thinking before writing. Dear BV, your Boss does not have any eyes for you, as being insinuated by some BVs. Your Boss may have high regards and expectations of you and may be very disappointed with you - that you got pregnant out of wedlock! People are morally wired differently - if he didn't maltreat you pre-pregnancy, why did he suddenly change? My opinion (I may be wrong), is based on my personality and character traits - as I tend to behave same way towards subordinates, whether male or female. I get very disappointed with youths with great potentials, when they "misbehave" (you rightly stated that you are hardworking and I am very sure he knows and appreciates your work attitude and output. But the pregnancy had reversed his opinion of you). However, I always try to have a heart-to-heart session with them to get more information on why they misbehaved, before jumping to conclusions. Thereafter I may counsel and advise them on the way forward. I will advise she schedules an appointment to meet with the Boss and explain the challenges she is currently going through.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Looooool. So you are saying that he slashed her salary in half cos he was disappointed in her? He is disappointed in her so he decided to punish her and the baby? Do you know that his decision might eventually lead her to being homeless? How does slashing her salary change anything? She's still doing the work she was doing before she got pregnant so what's the problem? "If he didnt maltreat you pre-pregnancy why did he suddenly change?" Errrr she didnt make the baby herself, meaning there is a man in her life so no hope for him. Your believe that he slashed her salary as a result of disappointment doesn't make any more sense than the Jealous Boss hypothesis. From your write up I can tell you are a man who has "youths (young women)" under his wings. Pls what they do during their personal time isn't any of your business. Everyone hates a nosy boss. They just can't tell you.

Get people under you as well, so you can get referral bonuses. It will end in praise. Those asking about her husband or baby father, if she left it out, then it's for a reason.

  87. Don't resign yet dear. I think the company are trying to recover for paying you for the three months you were on maternity leave. May be they later revisited that they shouldn't have paid you. I will advise you to wait till you get your 4th month salary before you resign. If at the 4th month they pay you same, then know there is a real problem. You can then take the advice from most BV. But for now, apply to other places and wait till they pay the 4th month salary. HOPE YOU TAKE THIS ADVICE.

For your baby, you don't have a sister or your mother is not available to look after your baby, so you can mangage the half salary?

I know you chose to ignore the father of the baby for a reason, but you can tell him too what you face or better still send him this link. He might be of help till everything is ok. But moreover you earn only 65k. Chaii Nigeria is fucked. People are suffering.
