Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a 47-year-old man, who attempted to export 270 grammes of cocaine to Madagascar.
The suspect, Odili Onyekwere, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during the outward screening of passengers on a Kenyan Airways flight to Ivato International Airport, Antananarivo, Madagascar.
The NDLEA Commander at the Lagos Airport, Ahmadu Garba, said: “This is the first arrest and seizure in the year of a passenger heading to Madagascar from this airport.
The suspect, Odili Onyekwere, successfully excreted 25 wraps of cocaine, which he ingested, while under close observation.
“He is cooperating with our team of investigators and the case will soon be charged to court.”
During interrogation, the Rivers State-born suspect said he went into drug trafficking out of frustration.
The father of two, who trades in foot wear in Lome, Togo, said: “I am married with two children and I sell shoes in Lome, Togo. As a result of the economic downturn, my capital kept depreciating until I lost everything.
“It was the frustration of not being able to provide for my wife and two children that made me go into smuggling of cocaine.
“It is my first time. They promised to pay me $1,000, which is over N400,000, going by the present exchange rate.”
Commenting on the arrest, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah, said with the use of latest technology in drug control, the agency would continue to disappoint those hoping to get rich quick from drug trafficking.

Come to think of it,have y'all ever wondered how those cocaine being exported came about.
In abuja and lagos,if u wana get a quick sniff it isn't a problem.most clubs and agents make it readily available hence u begin to wonder who the fuck imported this stuff to country up to the point that some greedy individuals have turned themselves into exporters.
Truth is NDLEA as an entity is CORRUPT.trust me,if uv got the money to settle them,u'd go Scott free.
Got a useless frnd that deals in this sort of thing and she hasn't been caught, not even once...No be the same MIA? Abeeegi!!!
Even the seized ones from the so called NDLEA are being sold to agents by staff of the organisation

Free this man Abeg... The economy is messed up.. Suicide is not an option, workers are being laid off, government is discouraging mmm. The issue is Nigerian govt would rather see the masses suffer rather than think outside the box. Let him be.
ReplyDeleteHe sells in Togo. So we should free everyone else from Togo who commits a crime because they are the only ones with a messed up economy abi?
DeleteGod catch am
ReplyDeleteHmmmm!!All these my brothers no dey hear word at all. Oke ochicho....
ReplyDelete@blunt what is worrying you this early morning. Na hunger or generational poverty? Which one of them.
ReplyDeleteWas the anon talking about you ? Stupid set of people that know nothing more than aggression and their aggression hasnt gotten them anywhere.
They should have let Kanu continue with his Biafra. Let them kill you all like chickens like the time ur god Ojukwu caused ur mass slaughtering.
Shameless set of people, all aggression and ordinary seat of power they can never achieve. All they do is betray each other. They can never stick together as one. How can your Biafra work.
U should be a tad sensible wf ur comments, DT she insulted anoda tribe doesn't give u d ryt to curse Igbo's,she isn't our spokes woman,so ur reply should be directed at just her OK?
DeleteThis present economic situation is not friendly at all, see people going into crime. May we not be an Instrument to the devil.
ReplyDeleteAbeg people were carrying drugs even when economy was good in the 80s. Some people are just greedy. Since you have the opportunity to travel why not go there are do manual work and use the money to start up something.
ReplyDeletePoverty is no excuse to carry drugs. Armed robbers can as well be supported that bcos economy is bad they are allowed to steal and slaughter people.
Haba, what a disgrace.

How is this APC's fault????? If his business was in Togo, how did Nigeria problem affect it???
ReplyDeleteTo think that he wasn't even getting a good deal with the offer of 1000usd for such a huge risk...imagine if the drug had busted in his belly???...
This has nothing to do with APC...Its simply greed
ReplyDeleteAPC is now responsible fir all the woes in Nigeria... Even when people can't 'puu puu' they will blame APC...Lazy fools who have refused to do something meaningful with their lives keep blaming the government for their failures...If his business collapsed in Togo, how did the APC cause that ooooo
ReplyDeleteGreed man. U re selling shoes and u do not focus on it bcos he want quick money.
