- Special Assistant to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Jude Ndukwe, has claimed that FFK slumped in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday.
In a statement Monday night, Ndukwe said that based on the information available to him, his principal’s life was in danger as long as he remained in EFCC custody or in the custody of any agency of the federal government.


- The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested media adviser to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Reuben Abati, over alleged diversion of funds. The renowned writer, was reportedly arrested Monday evening.



- Relatively, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday detained and questioned former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed. Mohammed was being questioned in connection with his alleged multiple offences while in office. Some were connected to questionable schemes and projects he undertook as FCT Minister between 2011 and 2015.


- The Rivers State branch of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had in a statement on Monday in Port Harcourt said that those fighting Amaechi and requesting that he should resign were fighting God and will soon be disgraced. A statement signed by the State APC Chairman, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, insisted that Amaechi was not guilty as charged, and will soon be vindicated.


- Some governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have expressed disappointment over the way President Buhari makes appointment from their states without consulting them. The Governors reportedly expressed their anger on Monday at the Presidential Villa during a meeting with the President. Report, however, claimed they did not tackle the President directly but expressed their feelings over the matter diplomatically.


- Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, monday in a statement said the National judicial Council had the power to suspend judges who are currently being investigated in the country. He argued that NUJ’s position that it had no power to suspend judges without receiving a petition and consequently investigating them was wrong.

- Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has called for an increase in the volume of trade internally and externally and the establishment of a commodity exchange to ensure stability in the prices of agricultural produce. This, he said was the only panacea to the current recession.
Obasanjo made the suggestion in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday during the opening of the 8th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment currently holding in the state capital.


- The Senate on Monday said it was set to probe the alleged diversion of the $1.5m special intervention funds from the Federal Government to states for polio eradication.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Communicable Diseases, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, at a press conference to mark the World Polio Day on Monday, also announced that the Senate would soon begin an open investigation into the alleged abuse of the global fund for polio in Nigeria.


- The acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, said in Kaduna on Monday that there would be no hiding place for corrupt public office-holders in the country. Magu was speaking on the sideline of the National Open Government Partnership retreat taking place in Kaduna. He dismissed insinuations from some quarters that the fight against corruption was selective.



- A report has claimed that one farmer was killed, while 12 houses were set ablaze following a clash between members of a vigilance group and some residents of Ejinya Abakpa and Ejinya Eheche communities in the Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State on Saturday. Report says trouble started on Thursday when a man, identified as Noah Ado, was stopped by members of the vigilance group, but refused to stop.
