In a bid to spark up the economy of Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello, has restated his unalloyed commitment to boosting power supply across the state and make life more meaningful to the people.
The Governor, who spoke through his Director General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, stated that one of the cardinal goals of his government is to ensure a significant improvement in power supply.
Fanwo said the Governor is prepared to commit himself to achieving sustainable improvement in power infrastructure to significantly boost power in the State.
“To match his electioneering campaign promise to make power available to Kogi people, the Governor has set up a powerful committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, to actualize that goal.
“The Committee, which has the Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy and Mineral Resources, as Secretary, also has as members the Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Special Adviser to the Governor on Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Permanent Secretaries of Works, Lands and Housing as well as Rural Development.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company also has a representative in the committee.
“The constitution of the Committee underscores the determination of the present administration in the State to ensure adequate power supply to boost the economy.”
The Governor charged the committee to identify and re-energize the critical infrastructure necessary for the delivery of power to the State, propose a road map for the successful delivery of uninterrupted power to the State, as well as attract investment into the State.
Governor Yahaya Bello assures Kogites of his administration’s readiness to collaborate with Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies charged with electricity regulation in the country to achieve his stated goal.
Nice one, but he also needs to work on the roads. Virtually all the roads in Kogi are messed up.
