Toke Makinwa Put On Blast By Instagram Followers For Posting New Photo Depicting Poverty...

Toke Makinwa posted this photo and her Instagram handle caught FIRE....Some people think it was wrong of her to have represented poverty like this......I am still looking at the photo and trying to understand it....Perhaps it represents where she is coming from...I dunno but honestly?I dont see anything wrong with this BEAUTIFUL Photo.

    2. A stupid photoshoot that reeks of pride. You didn't borrow the moment at all tone, looks like you took center stage. Taking advantage of the poor kids just to pose for the gram

    3. You must be very stupid and mad for saying that.can you, portable rubbish or whatever you call yourself be beckoned on the road to pretend to wear dirty clothes, sit on the floor and toke stand so neat beside you to do photo shoot?not to talk of these children that will grow up someday to this picture.

    4. All shades of wrong!... If she was playing with the kids then cool...hungry black kids In poverty_striken clothes looking up to a fair Lady posing as some demi_god? Lol nawa... hopefully there's a positive story behind this pic

    6. Hmmm I think I get their point, only that they aren't being constructive with their criticism/ analysis of the picture.

Yes it appears a beautiful work of art. But it is also loaded with an underlying innuendo, which simply depicts that a "queen" is seen hanging around poverty stricken kids. And they are in awe of her "royalty"

I think it's a bit spiteful, or oppressive if you like.

  4. It doesn't look right.

If it's supposed to represent where she's coming from, there are other ways to depict that without it coming off kinda condescending.

Having those children in costumes would have done a better job in passing the said message.

Meanwhile, she looks good. Love the gown.

As per the photoshoot, it's a no no,it's kinda condescending.there are better ways to express yourself if really she's trying to pass a positive message across.

  5. Toke is such a bully, that's why she doesn't have any form of charity where she gives back to the society. It is the followership of the people that gave you fame. Very stingy and self centered.

  7. I honestly don't understand the photo or the theme. It looks more like poor helpless kids looking up to their god, whom they can't touch nor reach... 😆😆😆

    ReplyDelete
  8. First thing that came to mind was what's this pic trying to say?. The photo appears dramatic but it's themeless (if that's a word) so what's the point?

    ReplyDelete
  9. What about the children looking up to her.Seeing reasons why they should go to school so they can look classy like this when they grow older.I really don't know why people don't see the good side of things, always negative.I was once like these kids born to a poor widowed mother in a ghetto. Here I am today, only if we look like what we've been through.

    1. Thank u for helping with the words, n if toke dressed like the kids social media will still blow up, a picture tells a lot and this is photography art. Dumb Nigerians with opinions always. Nonsense

      Delete
    2. Now the same picture you see can still translate to what you said and be interpreted well if only she had 'looked' down towards them, thereby giving them hope and encouragement. Children are mostly innocent and you find out that most poor ones who dont have means are actually happier even in their state. That is a natural thing. Try and watch the kids at IDP camps around the world. When a royalty comes, they tag along smiling happily. Not necessarily that they wanna be where the person is.

Now this is another dimension to your interpretation

      Delete
    3. Thank you, Valerie. Her pose is aloof, arrogant..like she doesn't belong here and is just passing thru....
Reminds me of the photoshoot where someone was carried by some blacks in slave Ttire,..can't remember who it was, but the backlash was crazy too And rightly too!!!

  10. So our own indefatigable and insatiable white Berry went to Linda to beg for 500k. *deep sigh* let me tell you something people, there is no honour in beggery. Ask @I was touched by an angel or whatever she calls herself now. And the most unfortunate thing is that no matter how much u get from begging, it is never enough else that begger u saw at that junction yesterday, wouldn't be sitting there again today. A little dignity won't kill.

No theme: so we can be objective.
I don't know what the intent was.

A picture speak a thousand words
What this depicts for me is associated with so many negatives than positives.

What's the message this picture is suppose to pass again?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Immediately I saw the picture,i asked myself, what message is this shoot passing?did she appear to them as an angel,or a higher being!then the write up on the picture just worsened the scenario,as she obviously struggled to be in that picture,i won't be surprised if she releases another showing where she hugged the children, toke can do anything for the gram, she doesn't mind going back to the same location to hug and kiss the children, just to justify what she wrote

  27. Can this woman drink water and drop cup?
Why is it that anything she tries to do isnt right in people's eyes?

  29. Hmmmm
How do I approach this now?
    Hmmm, let's see....
Let her just have a good story for this piece.. Hopefully there would be a genuine, plausible one.
I think Toke has a good head on her shoulders.

  30. Wrong way to pass your message across

    ReplyDelete
  31. I can only interpret her as a god to the kids because that is the way the pic came across. So wrong and her write up did not even help in explaining the shoot.

Shame on you Toke for mocking poor kids in this blatant show of grandeur.

  38. I am never a fan of her and will never be. She is an egomaniac, vain, pompous,a snob and arrogant. She is a pretender as well.
Meanwhile,i would never choose a lifestyle of 100% affluence. Was once a ghetto child....a phase of life worth experiencing. No regrets.

  41. Oh wow! To me, this is an epic miss. Toke, I know you're looking at the pic and you're like, "damn that's a good shot!" But what I see here is a few less privileged kids looking up to a seemingly angelic and untouchable being like it's some Lord and savior or something. Honey it didn't come out right at all. This can be likened to some imagery in the Bible where the people are sitting down and looking up to Jesus in all his glory. I dunno what your creative director had in mind but this shot would have been perfect without those kids.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. My dear, the creative director focused more on Toke and just gathered the kids to make their point. We all have different interpretations of pictures. Some good and some bad. Now when 90% viewers see it in the same light, then there is a problem. Just like this. They misrepresented this one.👎

  49. If you don't understand art you will never understand the picture. When I saw the picture earlier my interpretation of it was that she finally rose out of her dark times. This is the rebirth of Toke Makinwa, ispite of all she has gone through she she rose out of it all and have come out a better person. Na wetin me see for the pisure be that o.

    1. She was there standing like a goddess looking like she was above those kids. Little kids! She should have been smiling at them or held some of them, something to show that she has a connection with them and inspiring them. Not standing like some statue. Pointless picture, even art is sensitive
