Okonjo-Iweala Allegedly Knew Of The Corruption Under Jonathan But She Protected Herself

Ahmed Joda, the chairman of President Muhammadu Buhari’s transition committee, says Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, might never be found guilty of corruption.

Joda said this to journalists in Yola, the capital city of Adamawa state, on Tuesday.
He said that while Okonjo-Iweala knew of the shady activities going on, she always sought the approval of Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, thereby protecting herself from prosecution.

Joda said it was alarming that Okonjo-Iweala knew about the spate of corruption going on during the past regime, but held onto her job, presiding over fraudulent withdrawals from the economy.

“Okonjo-Iweala is a professional and she guarded herself. Whenever, they said this happened, she was able to produce papers to say, ‘Look, we had a meeting presided over by the president and attended by the national security adviser and others’.

“And she would go back and write the president and say, ‘I have received a request to release so many billions in accordance with our minutes. Your Excellency, if you will approve.’ And His Excellency would approve it. So, she covered herself, thus you can’t pin anything on her.”

*Well then, that means she is a smart woman and i respect her more for this..What should she have done with all the corruption going on back then? The ones that spoke out were disgraced and made to look like liars..where are they now?

    2. LOL..APC hmmm.you guys should know that APC are trying to woo this woman into working in their administration. The woman has said NO that she can't work undder their tenure now they are trying to tease her with good name that she wasn't corrupt and all that so she can consider their offer.so if GEJ gave approval for her to withdraw money for her personal use not merited will that also not be term as corrupt.they should look for another praise song to sing. Tell APC that we are aware that the past govts is responsible for the state of the economy but then as the govt in power what is their blue printer on the way forward.. Who can compare to Abacha with regards corruption and looting, I don't remember hearing OBJ lament about Abacha's loot when he came into power.APC stop blaming and start working oo

    3. Well, technically they are saying she was a passive minister...a puppet. They expected her to give expertise advise to her superior, or blow the whistle when she saw that things were going bad.

She may not have looted with them but her silence was as bad abeg.

  7. Then by professionalism, the woman has duly discharged her duty without fear or favour. Since she released all funds duly approved by her boss. Kudos to her, she is answerable to her boss only and "speaking out" to persons other than her boss will constitute breach of her terms of engagement.

  18. Nothing lasts for ever. Not even a government position of minister of finance or coordinating minister of the economy. She should have quietly resigned since she earlier said that she came in to serve and help the people and not to make money. She claimed to have left a more lucrative job to take a less paying job just to help her fatherland. Oh, I now get it. She left a better paying job to take a less paying one to help her fatherland bury its already dead carcass. Yes she would have succeeded in this venture if she and her ilk had spent another four years. She is so patriotic in deed.

Having covered herself smartly, how much did she steal and cover? Yes she couldn't have been there just acting as an undertaker without payment. Yes undertakers are paid.

Her smartness did not prevent her from having a husband always caught having sex in a hospital car park

    1. Borrow sense please! What has the husband got to do with the issue at hand? Or are your sisters among those caught having sex with him?

I remember when I read it in a popular daily newspaper ages ago. I kept wondering how the embarrassing drama ended but it seems the story was 'buried' on arrival.

    3. First off, get some brain in your thick skull. If you're saying she stole...PROVE IT! If you can't, swallow your bile all to your bitter self. Secondly, did her husband sleep with you or just another hearsay that you're propagating? Pictures and names of the fuckees will go a long way to buttress your allegation & if you can't...you already know the routine. Moron

  24. Is APC still trading blames? Close to 2 years in office and you're still looking for who to blame. Shebi una say $1 = N1? Make una do the magic. Nigerians voted out PDP & their corruption so APC's saintly impacts can manifest in our lives & we are seeing? Same PDP products under APC veil, deceiving and looting the country dry while ordinary Nigerians and scampering for scraps to feed.

  25. Hmmm who do we believe?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes Madam Ngozi was being very professional by #covering her ass' Written instruction is one of the hallmark of any organization and those who do things based on verbal instructions alone ought to learn from this. That being said, Madam Ngozi has no integrity if indeed she knew the gravity of corruption going on in GEJ govt and she did this nation a great disservice. What she did can be likened to a professional assassination and she can be considered an accessory to corruption.
