Nigeria Wins First Gold At Rio Paralympics

Roland Ezuruike of Nigeria has won men’s 54kg powerlifting title to claim first gold for the country at ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympics.

The 40-year old Ezuruike entered the contest lifting 185kg on the first try to set a new Paralympic record before he extended it with his second lift of 190kg.
Earlier, Latifat Tijani won the first medal for the country by clinching silver in the women’s 45kg powerlifting event.

  2. Yaaaay!!!! How did I miss the golden moment๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ž? Congrats team Nigeria.
Watching Rio(paraolympics) has been teaching me a lot about believing in myself and keep my eyes on hope. To me hope is Jesus.
Few weeks I have been so sad and down,no 1 to talk too, tears being my best friend, but all that has changed. I realised that the competitors did not sit and cry. They decided it wasnt over until it's over. Some where once in regular Olympics but got into accidents and lost something, but that didn't stop them from leaving their dreams . some accepted their fate from childhood and now they are world breakers.
The long and short of my epistle is, we should all try not to lose hope. Only d dead can be hopeless. Its ok to feel down, cry ,yell, but lets always remb that life will never be easy but with hope(Jesus) it won't be so hard. I hope to always tell myself that wenever life throws me a lemon.
I love every1, thanks to those who encouraged me thru d comment section.
    Have a beautiful weekend.

  4. We always win medals in the paralympics cos many of the people using connection to block real talents do not have disabled contestants to slot in. So they just let the deserving ones go through. Congratulations to these guys.
As long as they continue using connections, we may never get reasonable medals at the olympics.

  8. During the 2012 paralympics, a one legged guy used his crutches to support himself, when he got to a poimt, he dropped his crutches and hopped on one leg and did a high jump.
I laughed and cried at the same time. It was so touching.
We have them littering the streets here, no shelter, nothing.
We really have a long way to go.
