LRD 43
Hi stella, I have been reading the labour room drama and thought maybe it's about time I sent mine in.
Well here goes mine...I travelled to Us to deliver my baby(haters and those who are gonna ask what happened to Nigerian hospitals, please take several back seats or hug the nearest transformer gracias)
Prior to my trip I had registered and sorted out all hospital and doctors requirments and stuff so time for my first appointment my doc said my stomach was measuring smaller than my said weeks..see me see gbese o.
I had to do lots of sonogram to cool their minds that it was the approprate size and also because I was'nt so big the baby was'nt as big as the babies they were used to birthing.
Fast forward ,hubby had gone back to Nigeria for an urgent meeting to return hopefully before delivery but trust ,that was when my prince decided to make a grand entrance. I had gone for my ante natal but was told I was already 3cm dilated and that the head of my baby was so low and ready. I was not feeling any noticeable pain or pressure so I was looking at them like...warrahell!
But was asked to go home and give it some time,I also had to pick a date for induction just incase the baby did not come before the date,as they were giving my baby one week to show up else they bring him out by force, make e nor go drop for road lmao.
By this time I was 37 weeks.. I got home, 2 days later I began to feel pressure but not bad so was still chopping my gummies and watching series on netflix and exercising and shopping like who nor get ambition.lol.
Then I saw my ''show''...oh mehn it was funny how my elder sister acted. I called my sister when she was in the middle of surgery as she's a surgeon ,when she rounded up she rushed home only for me to say I am still not feeling the pressure or pain but she was ready o,bags were parked and put in the car, I called my doc and she said to relax first... see trouble,I had to start convincing my sister to please cool down she was not having it o,had to call my mom to beg her.lmao
Fast forward to day of the birth, hubby was in the middle of meeting when I had to go for my induction,he took time out of the meeting to pray with me and commit it all to God's hands.
Yes I was freaking out cos I knew my life was about to change but did not know how I would cope or if I was worthy of the gift God was entrusting into my care.
We got to the hospital and many more women were coming in and crying and many of them were not even as active in labour as I was,but since i was not screaming in pain my room was given out many times while I waited,by this time hubby had started going crazy in Nigeria and I was glad that he wasn't with me then because I would have been the opposite as I just wanted things to be taken easy that day.
oh well, my sister began the shout o,oh the hospital heard it.and by then my contractions has started coming so yea I really did not care who's head was on the pike.
So finally we got my room, all the wires for myself, the baby etc were placed, the catheter was inserted too ....truth be told it's annoying to have so many wires on your body at that time when all you want to do is tear pant.
By this time my water was still intact o. I was induced intravenously, it was'nt an injection,my dose was increased every 20mins until I was fully dilated, while this was happening I had my epidural inserted and my doc and I agreed to burst my water ,I thought oh now I am just going in for the ride. I even said I did not want the dosage high cos I wanted to know when to push. but by this time I was 6cm and still no serious pain like that..my doc was like my pain threshold was the highest she had seen in her years lol.I'm like, are you sure it aint this epidural?
By 8cm...my sisters had gone home to get me some stuffs only to get back and see that the show was just about to begin. I had previously commissioned one of my sis to video so hubby wont miss a second as he really wanted to be there.
well I begun to scream o..my mates will be screaming Jesus I was screaming 'F**K" a few minutes later I wanted to have the epidural increased because the pain was unbearable they refused that I had already begun active labour and had to stick it to the end. MOGBE!
I started crying o. my sister was holding my hand and crying too omg. it was super emotional in there.
I think i might have pooed in the labour room cos I smelled something gross while pushing, and I apologised but my nurses said, its part of the process dont you worry yourself. Then WE PUSHED AND PUSHED till the Dr asked if I wanted to feel my baby's head ...guess what i said? No way, just get him outta me ,get him outta me nowww!!! that's how I pushed my baby out o. my sisters' eyes were filled with tears and I was wailing lmao, and then my baby was put on my chest and I just felt...too much love.
All this happened in 31 mins. I have'nt been able to thank God enough, I always prayed and asked for very short and problem free delivery and God did it for me. He hears when we call.
My son will be 2years in a few weeks and everytime I look at him even when upset I just smile because indeed he is a bundle of joy.
*Rolling my eyes...you are dramatic sha...hehehehehehehe
Lucky you,my pain threshold s not high at all.

Hi Stells! I'm a huge fan.
Been reading ur blog for a couple of years now but never comment. Just thot to send in my labour room drama.
Had my first baby about 14 years ago. Hubby wasn't around so had to travel home to be with mummy dearest. Was about 10days away from my due date when I went to ease myself and saw the mucus tinged with a bit of blood. Told my mum and the whole drama started. My mum's 1st grand child was on the way and so u can imagine the excitement.
Mum packed the bag and said of we go to the hospital. Told mum I wasn't feeling any pain and that we should wait a bit but she wouldn't hear any of that. So off we went. It was on a Sunday and there were no doctors available only nurses. Was kind of baffling really.
There were about 3 other women in labour that seemed to be really close to popping their babies out so the nurses paid little attention to me cos I seemed not to be in any pain. We got to the hospital around 5pm. At about 7pm, a nurse checked me and said I was about 5cm dilated but still no pain. At
About 10pm, I started feeling sleepy so I dozed off. Dad came into d hospital to see me around 9 and left.
At about midnight, I was woken by one kind pain wey I never experience for my life and so it went on. Once it subsides, one kind sweet sleep wey sweet die go carry me go only for the pain to come again and wake me after 5minutes. That is how it continued until it was less than 5mins apart. Meanwhile there were only two nurses on duty that night and they had their hands full with d other two women that were about to deliver so it was me and all the while. When mum saw that I was going to crush her fingers with the way I was squeezing them, she dashed out to get the nurse.
She came back alone cos the nurse was taking delivery of another baby. At around 2am. I told mum I felt like pushing so she dashed out again but came back alone again. Long story short, mum took delivery of her grand daughter. It was when the nurses heard the cry of the baby that they came running in.
The placenta had come out immediately after the baby. I jokingly told my mum we could have stayed at home to deliver the baby and saved some good money cos I don't see what was done for me in the hospital. My mum just smoked at her grand daughter and said- I wouldn't have been at peace knowing this is ur first baby and my 1st grandchild. Left for home in the morning and omugwu started. That's story for another day.
Una pay the Hospital? If na me i no go gree oh,or we go share the money 50/50 hoha!
Shout out to all super moms all over the world
