Kanye West Officially Drops D ’ Banj From G. O. O .D Music

After much speculation about Nigerian singer , D ’banj ’s status in Kanye West ’ s G.O. O.D music label, it has finally been confirmed that the kokomaster is no longer a member .

GOOD music recently released an updated list ( below ) of its members on their official twitter page and D ’ Banj ’s name was missing .

Just a day earlier , the ‘ Oliver Twist ’ star was still included on the list that was shared online when the label announced it has signed rappers Tyga and Migos .
After the earlier mixup , it now appears D ’ banj and a couple of other artists have been dropped by the label.

D ’banj was signed to GOOD music in 2011 and throughout his time with the label, he failed to release an album . He was only featured in the label’s compilation album Cruel Summer in 2012 and also made a cameo in Kanye ’s Mercy.

    1. Hhhnnmmm sad! If only he had stayed with Don Jazzy.

Anyway his exit turned out to be blessing for Tiwa, Reekado, Korede and Dija.

    1. Go back to which Donjazzy?

That bridge has burned a long time ago. At least, business wise.

He should go become an investor or something.

It looks like the same thing is about to happen to Davido.

  9. Na wa ... Ev3n d bible says we shld cut off an unproductive tree.. Record label owners are capitalists, if ur music no dey sell and they aint getting turnover frm mon3y invested on u, they drop u like hot potato.

Take the case of Skales and Banky W... But nw, Scales don dey try.
If i were D'banj i"ll stick to entertainment.. D'banj is a born entertainer nt a musician, watever that means.... I wish he"ll go back to the drawing board n re-strategise. All d best of luck!!

    3. He's an entertainer meaning he can keep your eyes fixed on him. But he's not a musician because there are some basi singing talent that he lacks. Kapish? Praise Adejo, Cobhams Asuquo, Dare Art Alade, Waje musicians. D'banj, Olamide and Seyi Shay are more of entertainers.

  13. This may be news to Nigerians, it's no news at all. 'The College Dropout' dude (Kanye - and true to that moniker) signed a few Nigerians to make money off them and nothing else. Music is highly monopolised in the U.S and they only go for their own, Tidal was failing, still is, if what is being touted around is true and bug head thought he could use Africans. I could write a whole chapter on this issue but the bottom line is that African artistes should try and stick to their LOYAL African labels. D'banj is a great African Artiste and doesn't need the likes of Kanye dropout to verify him, nor does any African artiste. Dbanj should hold his head up high and learn to appreciate the motherland supporters and fellow artistes. Truth be told, all the Yankee DJ's don't play any of our famous artistes music on their stations and the whole music business is a very dirty and shoddy biz that I won't even begin to scare anyone with. Good luck to new African artistes and stay loyal to your homegrown fans. Good Morning.

    3. Funny thing's they see Tiwa as a growing threat to their African sales hence the need to kill her shine by signing her to Roc nation or whatever tf Jay z's label's called.I've never seen her look so out of her depth n insecure as she did at a recent awards show in America

    4. Tiwa will be fine they can't intimidate her

  23. Eeyah, I use to remember when Dbanj was very popular that if his music wasn't played in a party then you know the party has not started, Eeyah I wonder what happened to him.

  24. D'Banj got it wrong the day he chose to sign with Kanye WEST. He should have stuck with Don Jazzy, but then again if he had not parted ways with Don Jazzy, we would not have been blessed with the good songs from Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, Dija et al. All in all, D'Banj is still the kokomaster, a great ENTERTAINER.

  27. I don't see anything wrong in D'banj thinking he could better his career by signing with Kanye.

Most of you would leave an old boyfriend for a new boyfriend with better money, power and fame anytime. It is what it is.

It is not too late for him. I hope Tiwa and Whizkid would learn.

  35. I hope Tiwa Savage is reading this, Americans only use Africans for money in the music business and nothing more. Don't be fooled by all the media hype. If it ain't working for THEM, you are out. Tiwa should not allow herself to be used to plug TIDAL to Africans.

  39. I'm so sorry for dbanj,He is still a legend,a great entertainer...what our artists don't know is that these guys just want to tap into your market, they are all about the money, they put one small TV channel that does not show your music in more than 2 states in the US,they will even give u guys awards in the basement 3 hours before the show..Tiwa learn from this,u might be dumped like this very soon.
