SEVERE HEADACHE AFTER CS
My sister gave birth last week Thursday through a ceacerane section cause the baby was breech in the best hospital in town and she has been having this severe headache every 3hours and the back pain started last night.
The doctor said its as a result of the anaesethic given to her before
the operation through her spinal cord and the headache will only last
for some days..
She is taking tramadol, panadol extra and paracetamol and even have to increase the dose..
Please doctors in the house and bvs who have given birth through this
method and experienced such,we need advice and what did you take to
stop the headache...
Some told us to use native medicine that its very effective...
Please we need your serious advice cause this is her first baby n my
mum first grand child..
The baby is doing very great.
God's divine healing.
ReplyDeleteI think that is one of the side effects of epidural. Tramadol? Panadol extra? Paracetamol? Isn't she breastfeeding? She should go back to the hospital and Complain well well. I wish her well
ReplyDeleteExactly what i was thinking. She shldnt be taking strong painkillers while breastfeeding. I am sure she is self medicating.
Deletedoctors please step in.
ReplyDeletereading comments to learn.
I wonder why nobody called the name of this condition...
DeleteIt's PDPH. Post dural puncture headache..it's very very common with cs and appendectomy patients.
It takes upto 1month to clear up..simple bed rest and hydrocort injection will do..
Go back to the same hospital and tell the Doctor the pain is persisting...most blog visitors will only give you conflicting solutions.
ReplyDeleteAffirmative!
DeleteWell said
DeleteChai nawa o wot women go thru... Oya doctors step in
ReplyDeletePlease help me, my husband last too long during sex... Very hard and strong and can last hours(m not exagerating) without cuming. Please what can I do, I have suffered enough
Deletelol. Anon 18:26. Give me your husband. Is he rich? Does he have a private jet? i kid!
DeleteShe should send us her LRD!
ReplyDeleteNa wa for you.
DeleteKiiiiiiki
DeleteIt is well with your sister.Divine healing is her portion in Jesus name.
ReplyDeleteTrams?...isn't that too powerful!!
ReplyDeletewill leave that to the doctors though!!!
Tramadol...Panadol extra..Paracetamol...just too powerful. Pumping her with so much painkillers...the side effect will soon result to Ulcer
DeleteI feel she should rest and take enough water
Tramadol ke? Hmmmm short of words, lord fix it.
ReplyDeleteOMG! she needs to go to the hospital right away and have her blood pressure checked. Same thing happened to me after I had my baby. Turned out to be high blood pressure. Was given medication and it stopped. Panadol extra won't cut it. Please do not play with this. Let her go to the hospital now!
ReplyDeleteNa wa. Great healing to her Amen
ReplyDeleteits caused by a punture in her spinal cord that is releasing fluid in her brain path causing the headache, she might need a blood patch test to resolve it if pain medications are not working. tell her to ask for blood patch test
ReplyDeleteShe should STOP taking Tramadol please. Let her take power horse or bullet. It's the only reliable treatment for that and I bet you 99% of doctors don't know about it.
ReplyDeleteAre u for real. Powerhorse and Bullet?

ReplyDeleteMadam over sabi, allow ur sister to take her drugs in peace,do u know more than the doctor who prescribed those drugs for her, there's no short cut to heaven, let her endure d pain.
Doctors are not God and yes sometimes you know more than them,a doctor once prescribed a medication for me,when I looked at the mg,I felt the dosage was too much and went straight to a pharmacist to show him my prescription and the pharmacist confirmed my fears and gave me a lower dosage and I was good in days,my friend was also given a prescription by a doc but her pharmacist warned her against taking the drug because of her ulcer, but she decided to with the doc since he knew she had ulcer,in fact it was by the grace of God that she survived, she was hospitalized for 2weeks.
DeleteAngel ray, if you don't have anything meaningful to contribute, just shut those traps you call mouth. Since when did a concerned sister become over sabi?
DeleteKeep on exposing your mediocrity. Anu mpam
Poster your Bp is high and it is dangeros. what you need is REST. Sleep well and relax yourself. Go to a general hospital, see a Doctor and they will prescribe a drug for you because you are breast feeding. Talking from Experience. We Mothers Rock.
ReplyDeletePoster Ps follow Immaculate advice.your BP is high you need to check your Bp and see a doctor about it.
DeleteImmaculate try getting an id. Hello from this side. Remember me? Won your giveaway that july time. More grace dear
DeleteShe has a spinal head and it will eventually go away. Don't overdo the painkillers, too much acetaminophen can damage the liver. She's just going to have to bear it. It can last up to 2 weeks. If it doesn't go away eventually then she needs to go back to the hospital so they can do a blood patch, but it usually doesn't come to that.
ReplyDeleteDear poster, the headache is normal the first few days after cs. all she needs to do is sleep well not abuse of medication. abi which kai mixture be panadol extra, tramadol and paracetamol be that? Do you want your sister to kolo mental?
ReplyDeleteDoctor how does a woman know when she is ovulating?
ReplyDeleteI had this. They always lie here in Nigeria and tell youb it will last for a few days but the truth is those few days are like hell. That headache is from the hottest part of hell. It's called spinal headache.
ReplyDeleteBasic remedies include lots of Coca Cola or coffee but e no go work o! Hmm. That headache is a bastard.
I had to get a blood patch done. This involves taking blood from your arm and injecting it back in your spine. I no know whether your sister will want to take that risk here. May God bless her and the new baby.
She will be fine
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for her pain.
ReplyDeleteAnesthetics through the spinal cord is usually like that,my elder sister had pains and headache for close to 6 months, before it stopped on its own.
As for the back pain, she still has it but occasionally.
All the best.
She needs A LOT of rest. She will be fine!
ReplyDeletePlease let her go back to hospital. Self medication does no good.
ReplyDeleteI experienced the same thing the day after my delivery through cs. Mine was so severe that I had to keep my eyes closed always. Opening my eyes felt like the eye balls would pop out. On the 5th day though, someone who knows about herbs gave me some leaves to squeeze out the juice n put in my eyes... That was what stopped the headache almost immediately. It was only then, I could c n carry my baby well. That headache is a very terrible thing.
ReplyDeleteTremadol will make the headache severe, she should go to the doctor cause the drugs she is taking, the baby is also partaking of it.
ReplyDeleteLord set your daughter free from this terrible headache and pains
ReplyDeleteIt will pass. Chai, i had this. The head will ache like your brain wants to fall out. Let her lay with her leg raised. She should avoid using a pillow for now. Mine entered two weeks. Please easy with the pain killers because of the baBY. It is the side effect of epidural. My doctor could not help. He told me to always look at my baby and the pain will fade away. lol. Silly guy!
ReplyDeleteHad this too. I don't know about spinal patch but mine was clearly High Blood Pressure. Please go back immediately to the hospital and do not leave till they attend to you. if you die, your baby will suffer!!!! Go and get checked. if it is not High BP, then they can check the spinal thingie. Don't manage it o!!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...I think this headache is associated with epidural and spinal block. Reason why you are advised not to raise your head or prop it up with pillow for some hours after having an any of the anasthetsia.
ReplyDeleteDuring my time, I was asked to lay flat for the rest of the day after the surgery and till about noon the next day (almost 24hrs). I jejely complied cos I've seen a friend go through that headache and I hear it's worse that the CS pain.
Poster, I think the docs are right about, ie, if HBP has been ruled out. It'd last for some days or weeks and she'd be fine. If not, the blood patch like some people advised should be it. Sorry to your sis.
Dear poster, the headache is common after epidural. Pls take lots of PEPSI COLA DRINK. My friend had d same problem too after C.S. It will pass away
ReplyDeletePoster, I had the same experience in may after my third cs. It never happened with my two previous cs and I've never felt any headache like that in my entire life. It is cos of the anaestethic given before the operation, it wiil stop on its own though they said caffein can reduce it but, mine stopped about a month after the operation. Tell your sister to go back to the hospital, she can as well google about it, many people experience it after a csection. It is well
ReplyDeleteTake Plenty of water it will disappear before u know it
ReplyDeleteWhat your sister has is called " Spinal headache " she must have raised her head up instead of lying flat after her c/s. I had d same experience 3wks ago. As a Nurse, i'll prescribe caffeinated drinks like coca cola, ibuprofen Or diclofenac tablet with pcm. (only reduces d pain) Blood patch is d best treatment, but it's rarely done in Naija. The pain usually stops after a while.
ReplyDeleteCheck your Iron level, eat alot of fruit, drink a lot of water and rest.try to give ur child ,baby food sometime until you recover.God bless
ReplyDeleteYour sister sityation is normal. I birth baby 5 months ago and i went through everything your sister went.i had banging headache snd i was given panadol extra to take home which works for me.But when i exhausted the tablet my headache came back.i overcome all that u listed by eating well, sleeping well and drinking lots of water. Put a water bottle beside u at all time. The headache is normal it will go after sometime. So cheer up

ReplyDelete2nd occasion was post delivery too, severe headache link what is called 'pre eclempsia' not sure of the spelling oh!Grace found me in insisting i should be taken to the hospital and even fighting the doctors there that certain blood work should be done.GOD literally saved me from going into coma.once again let YOUR SISTER SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP RIGHT AWAY.May almighty GOD touch and heal her IJN.Amen.
