Buhari Tells NYSC Corps Members In Daura ''Tell Your People To Forget Biafra''

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Daura called on Nigerian youths to make the country great again through pursuit of knowledge, patriotism and commitment to values that promote national unity.

Receiving over 100 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Daura local government area, in his residence, President Buhari pledged his unalloyed commitment to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.

He urged them to remain focused in life, pursue their dreams and reject those fanning embers of discord and disintegration of Nigeria.
The President, who specially recognised corps members from the Niger Delta and South-Eastern states serving in Daura, praised the vision of former President Yakubu Gowon in setting up the scheme in 1973.

The President said the scheme had creditably promoted national unity and cohesion by exposing young people to the uniqueness and cultural diversity of Nigeria.
“I asked for those from the other extreme of Nigeria because I very much appreciate the NYSC scheme and whenever I see General Gowon, I always thank him for that”, he declared.

Speaking specifically to corps members from the South Eastern states,
the President said: “Tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it.’’
“As a military commander, I walked from Degem, a border town between the north and the east, to the border between Cameroons and Nigeria.

“I walked on my foot for most of the 30 months that we fought the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, in which at least 2 million Nigerians were killed.
“We were made by our leaders to go and fight Biafra not because of money or oil, because oil was not critical factor then, but because of one Nigeria.
“So if leaderships at various levels failed, it was not the fault of the rest of Nigerians who have no quarrel with one another.

“So please tell your colleagues that we must be together to build this country. It is big enough for us and potentially big enough in terms of resources.
”Those who work hard will earn a respectable living. I have seen this country, I fought for this country and I will continue to work for the unity of this country,’’ the President said.

In his remarks, Mr Egbewumi Adebolu, the Corps Liaison Officer in Daura, thanked the President for the honour of receiving them and making their stay in Daura memorable.
He said the youths strongly believed in the programme of the President to reduce unemployment and create jobs for more Nigerians.

Adebolu thanked the President for his personal gifts of cows, bags of rice and cash to corps members in the community for Salah celebration.

U people should start boasting and bragging with the true Yoruba Lands that are wretched and under developed and look like war torn areas from the 18th century ie Osun Ekiti Ogun Oyo and Ondo. These are real Yoruba lands with poverty and destitution staring inhabitants in the face. . Lagos is a no man's land.Have you wondered why Hausa people fought back in mile 12,slaughtered and chased ur people away? Bcos they are In a no man's land.

Why is it that whenever he rules, there is recession? The last time same thing, now the same thing. He should just retire abeg,we don't need him,the curse on him is affecting the nation as a whole.

  25. Whether Lagos is no mans land or not. It is certainly not part of Igbo land. Lagos is in Nigeria so go back to biafra.

  26. @anon 14.07 SHUT THE FUCK UP, and stop saying Lagos is no man's Lagos.
I come from Epe in Lagos state, same place Ambode comes from.
Why not don't step ur foot in any Yoruba land at all if they are undeveloped. Still yet ur Igbo ppl will pitch tent there and refuse to leave.
There are real Lagosians, EPE, BADAGRY,,IKORODU,,ISALE EKO. Go educate urself you dumbo. The Ojora's , Saro's these are all real lagosians.
That is why they told ya'll they will drown you. No mans land my foot.
You better be appreciative we Lagosians/Yoruba's are accommodating of other tribes. If your state was soooo good, why do you people always have a settlement in every backward Yoruba state as u claim.

  29. Anon 16:00 Lagos is a no man's land till eternity. No body will leave for any body. This is the reason hausa people fought back, slaughtered and chase you people away when you wanted to drive them away from mile 12.
U are from Epe, Lagos state but your grandfather was from Modakeke, Osun state. Stop making a fool of yourself. Start making mouth with your Osun State,ur root.

  30. All Nigerians are welcome in Lagos including Hausa's because they are Nigerians. Igbos are not Nigerians and Lagos is in Nigeria. You will leave Lagos whether you like it or not when you create your Biafra. You cannot take Lagos to Biafra so start dealing with it now. You want to leave Nigeria but you don't want to leave Lagos, you will all die if you don't leave Lagos.

    2. I am from Delta. Igbo people are arrogant. There are all over the west making a living yet they won't respect the Yoruba. Even in the north, they are everywhere, they get killed and their properties destroyed during religious riots there, yet they won't leave. But in the west where they are welcome and do their trade without hindrance, they don't respect them.

Lagos belongs to the Yorubas and any other reasonable tribe that decides to give respect to dos whom respect is due.

Shameless ritualist, drug pushers, fake drugs peddlers oshi. Shameless tribe dat dey keep killing allover. Their land is so good but they won't seat there.

Lagos very busy roads become a football field every Xmas period. That alone should tell you that without us u will go hungry just like kwasiokor has grip madiguri ,adamawa state cos of bokoharam is being used to make igbos leave who suffer more now? ofcourse na them cos they can't even work for ordinary nri onu cos na only igbo man can employ them as gate man, cleaners, shoe makers, u dy drag land while 85% of houses in this state belong to an igbo man. After the war it took us less than 10yrs to stand back on our feet an igbo man can start afresh anytime & still overtake you. Pray to have an igbo man as a husband or inlaw then you go for thanksgiving in the church
