Actor Odunlade Adekola Should Feel Privileged for Acting Alongside RMD in The Grudge?

It is not every day actors in the Yoruba sphere of Nollywood get to
feature in English speaking Nollywood movies.

Yoruba leading actor Odunlade Adekola stars in this new movie from Tinsel Star
Funmi Holder titled The Grudge, alongside Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) an
actor of repute.

The Abeokuta born Odunlade Adekola who started acting in 1996 is
unarguably the biggest actor in the Yoruba sphere of Nollywood as he is
the actor with the most appearances in Yoruba movies and has the highest
following across different social media platforms.

His face literary sells movies and he is the darling of several film
marketers in Idumota and Aba in the South-west and South-east regions of
Nigeria respectively. He has won the popular City People Entertainment
Awards Best Actor of the Year four times (2009, 2011, 2014 & 2015). In
April 2014, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award, having emerged as best
actor of the year.

For RMD, he is a man who has gone full circle. The highly reverred actor
commands respect anywhere he goes and is indeed a man of many parts; an
Actor, Lawyer, former Commissioner and above all, a family man and grand father..

RMD started acting in the 80s after leaving the university and acted in
the popular TV series Ripples. He even made more headlines when he starred
in another TV series Checkmate playing the role of Segun Kadiri. He has
gone on to star in more than 47 movies. He also headlines the popular TV
sitcom now showing on cable TV titled Hush.

Many movie fans that read about the movie, The Grudge online are of the opinion Odunlade Adekola should have goose bumps as he acts on the same set with RMD and also considering the fact that this is only the second English movie he would be starring in.

The Grudge tells the story of the lives of two lovelorn spouses from
separate marriages and a lonely widow intersect as they struggle to deal
with a grudge that has festered for so long.

The movie The Grudge  which will be in cinemas from October 28 also features another Tinsel Star Iretiola Doyle, Jaiye Kuti, Funmi Holder herself and introducing Ijeoma Aniebo.

    10. I actually thought the write up was about Odun being compared to RMD, wanted to understand the writers point of view, but alas.

Dude has actually brushed himself up in recent times though. He's a good actor, no doubt. Very captivating. He's always in trouble lol. And I think featuring him in this cross over movie acting will help him further. It's about time they stopped the stereotype in the industry. But I hope he maintains the limelight for a longer time because they usually sink to oblivion after a while when their acting becomes monotonous. RMD should know..

Who would think that we could ever get enough of RMD? but as time goes on, new and better actors emerge to take over the screen from the veterans. So it's a wrap.

      OK bye

  23. Very stupid. The Yoruba actors are well respected and patronized in their own genre. So is RMD. No basis for comparison o jare. Odunlade is doing very well and Yoruba's buy their films not plaigiarising it everywhere like the English films. Which make the English actors starve and die of hunger. He was just a fine boy who struggled like anyone who is not from a privileged home, dated and married a bigger and older woman, May. He just went to read law recently and was eventually made a commissioner. Abeg, nothing to have goose pimples about. Odulade should also improve himself. Rome was not built in a day!

I can't even speak it after how many years in Lagos. Didn't bother learning. French, English, Spanish and German is OK for me.

I will watch the movie cos of Odunlade and not RMD period! And am sure they included him so as to help sell the movie sef...the guy is pulling serious weight among the masses that will help generate profit for the movie.

  70. I am not yoruba but Odun stands out and there is no use comparing him to another as tho GMD was a god. I just started watching Yoruba movies and I love his acting skills and when a man is blessed no one can rub him off his gifts. Though Stella I love you too, keep up the good work.

  72. Odun is the best actor on current form. He can stand tall as the best in Africa. He has done well feo himself at this young age. He has no controversy surrounding him and looks finer than RMD. So why the evil headline? The writer and Stella are just pure sadists who coincidentally found themselves on the same mission. Its just like saying messi should feel privileged playing alongside ronaldinho. Now is odunlade's time. RMD should enjoy his retirement
