The first son of Senator Stella Oduah has died at a Turkish private hospital in Abuja due to the wrong prescription by a medical doctor...
Senator Oduah's son, whose name was given as Maxwell Chinedu Etoromi, died after he took a wrong medication prescribed for him following a tooth surgery.
SaharaReporters learned that the 28-year-old graduated from Guildford College in the UK before returning to Abuja.
Ms. Oduah served in the Goodluck Jonathan administration as a Minister of Aviation before running for a seat in the Nigerian Senate.

Oh God
ReplyDeleteHe looks like Mum
RIP
I almost said this is the reason by they don't go to Nigerian hospitals it what do I know? Turkish hospital In Abuja???
DeleteRIP to the death
These doctors, that's how one have my dad a wrong blood. How can you give an o+ a b+ blood?
DeleteSo oo sad. No Mamá should loose a child, especially from negligence or omission of another person.
DeleteHe might have died from a serious drug reaction, from a severe anaphilactic reaction. It might not have been a wrong medication but an allergic reaction that was so fast in snuffing life out of him. The medicine was most probably an antibiotic, since he had his tooth pulled. That hospital might not have had the med (eg simple EpiPen) to reverse the adverse reaction; OR b4 they even figured out what was going on the young man had already transitioned.
Some drugs will just start closing your airway, from swelling /edema in your throat. wind pipe, lungs. Some may include swelling of the face, lips, tongue then to the throat etc. You see the person gasping for air, eyes bulging out, he /she cannot breathe !!!! Na die the person dey see so.
This is an emergency. Treatment should be immediate, like now now & may include -epinephrine to reduce/reverse the body's allergic course: -Oxygen !; - an antihistamine/cortisone to reduce inflammation of the airway & improve breathing.
Africans don't really believe in adverse drug reactions, ignorance is a tragedy. They will think it is poison in food or drink placed by someone. For prescriptions, they will continue taking a medication even if it is giving them symptoms worse than the illness being treated. They will not notify the Docs so he can prescribe an alternative w lesser or no adverse effects. They just believe since it was prescribed by the Doc, they must take it.
Some don't know what they are allergic to. Some in the diaspora are lucky to find out after something happens to them & they receive treatment in western hospitals.
As I sympathize w the family of this young man, my little write up above is meant to be informative, to let us know what to do, to raise an alarm for a medical emergency & what questions to ask our medical practitioners when faced with same scenario concerning our loved ones.
Shalom.
Sorry for your loss Stella. It is well with you.
DeleteEven the so called Turkish hospital gat no qualified doctor.
DeleteThey should close the hospital n sue the doctor
Nigerians and lies. You all have hardened almost every doctors heart in this country that they won't even bat an eyelid to chase you lot out when you are almost at the point of death without money.
DeleteEverything that goes bad is the doctors fault, No one dies of AIDS, DRUG ABUSE (COCAINE, alcohol, heroine) etc, it is always the Doctor that killed him.
Even celebrities abroad come out plain and accept that they are drug addicts and people know who dies from Hiv/aids, drug overdose bla bla bla.
In Nigeria, its either the Doctor or the witches in the village.
How can you spend sleepless nights to help someone from a terrible illness only for the family to repay you with slander and public abuse? This is the greatest sin one can ever commit.
I know many medical doctors and hospitals that have changed their policy in the past few years, you all keep the slandering but make sure you carry money around cos Majority of hospitals will NOT even look at you if you don't have cash. Since every patient in Nigeria is a potential case of Negligence and malpractice, atleast you go chop the money first so that when the case comes out,you will know that atleast you chop money first. Not the poor ones that will be owing you and still cry wolf.
This YOUNG MAN is A DRUG ADDICT! Yes a DRUG ADDICT but atleast it is better to defame a doctor that studied years to get his degree than to create awareness about DRUG ADDICTION.
The Mayowa case should be an eye opener as to how patients relatives lie to get public attention. Yet you lie and lie and lie to get public sympathy. If people didn't her pic, maybe today they will say LUTH doctors killed her.
@ Anonymous 12:20, best response ever.. #samethoughtshere
DeleteNa so them de take license, oriegwu. We have to be prayerful at all times.
DeleteA drug addict? What a waste! SMH
DeleteWhy do I have a mixed feelings about this news. What a sad way to die. Turkish hospital kwa? U see our penchant for everything western at de detriment of our indigenous development n growth is killing.
ReplyDeleteNo one can run away from the rot in de system. We are all affected one way or de other, so lets join hands n build this nation Nigeria.
You r so smart @ Zitel
DeleteLucille coconut I know... Zitel?
DeleteIt don't necessarily follow. There us something called anaphylaxis.Every individual has something he or she reacts to, that could cause instant death-a protein or drug.So this may have been a drug reaction which became fatal.Often times,no doctor would know what any patient reacts to until it happens. That's if there were no prior reaction & cautionary warning to a medical personnel before the administration of such drugs

DeleteAh! Sorry young man, rip.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace Brother!
DeleteJust like that??? 28yrs Kia.. She would regret y she ddnt fly him abroad...govt pay attention to our health care to avoid stories like this please...
ReplyDeleteTurkish Hospital!
DeleteChai.! Chai.! ! Chai.! ! !
DeleteStella Odua must be devastated right now ....
Good health we all clamor for is not in abroad but from ABOVE
May God protect and preserve us all.
RIP young man !
Lord console your mum!
You just have a mosquito brain. Let me analyze it for you hood rat.
DeleteThe mother stole millions to buy bulletproof BMW, isn't it? Yes, she did. Was it not at the detriment of other people's money and sweat?
Secondly, what was her mission purchasing that/those machine(s)? Because it wasn't just one she bought but 2 if i'm right, and yes, I am.
If she had done the proper thing and not also contribute to the rot, will she be trapped in this now? May be the heads of those cheated or Karma visited her, that I can't say!
But truth be told, people must always live right, so that when that time comes, karma will "jump you over". But these greedy lots prefer stolen funds to human lives due to their greed.
This time, they won't say it's APC's witch hunt.
Let no nuisance come and ovulate under this comment.
Because if you do, the rot of Jehovah will visit your entire household. You ppl hate to hear the truth all in the name of hypocrisy, wishing somebody dead isn't right, I didn't wish him dead, but ppl should also bear in mind that Karma never forgets. Stella make I no find this comment.
Anon10:04 the same karma Will make you die one day,do you know what your parents did when they were young, people they may have offended who may have placed a curse on their kids, some parents have done worse than politicians, they don't just have money to show for it.
DeleteSmh
DeleteIt's such a pity
ReplyDeleteStella should sue the hospital
Rip
Did I hear you say sue? Idiot ignoramus. How many ppl has sued her for living off them?
DeleteIf they had all played their roles by equipping the government hospitals, will the need to patronize the turkish hospital occur? No. But Karma always answers "present" when that time comes.
Nobody deserves to die, but also ppl need to put their deeds to check.
My mum died in ubth 3months ago,she was going for morning mass and had an accident. She was taken to the hospital almost immediately as it happened in front of the church, she fought a good fight as she bled from 6:30am to 10:45am before giving up after receiving the last Sacrament. I watched from the window helplessly as the doctors tried to save her with no much equiment for them to work with they were just pumping drips into her trying to stop the bleeding.who would say she didn't try bleeding from a deep head injury for over 4hrs. This oduah woman spent millions in buying bullet proof jeeps. I'm sure if she had spent that money on hospital equipment my mum and her son would still be alive. My prayer for all those that stole and still stealing from Nigeria should feel the pains I felt watching my mum helplessly leave this world.
DeleteMy God grant him and my mum eternal rest and all the faithful departed and may His perpetual light shine upon them. #diaryofaheartbrokenmotherlessonlydaughter.
DeleteMercy, i'm so sorry about your mom's painful exit! May God console you.
DeleteNow you just proved my point right. It is only people who have gone through this same emotional torment that can tell how bad it is when your health/medical facilities aren't available to then result to the death of loved ones that can feel the pains of this occurrences. Not some idiot sitting behind their wretched techno phones typing trash that hasn't gone through this that will be saying "RIP" to the boy, "the Doctor's license" should be seized(did the mother do well too by acquiring those machines?no, she didn't, but we will not say it due to hypocrisy. Idiots.
Why didn't she donate that money to the government for the betterment of the hospitals?
What if these top notch had fixed everything with the stolen funds they embezzled for greed sake, will these occurrences still persist? No. I pray ya'll acquire senses.
Mercy,God will heal your heart
DeleteMercy I feel Your pain...lost a daughter too to our lack of good health care facilities. ...docs here tried to manage her condition with the little they had but a week after we managed to get her out for treatment it was too late......no woman deserves to know the pain of loosing a child.....if you are in a position to better our health care systems, do so please, you might just be saving your child's life.....
DeleteMercy I'm so sorry for ur loss, may her soul RIP
DeleteMay God grant him eternal rest 😪😥😭
ReplyDeleteNizimaye Turkish hospital almost killed my friend early this year. He is presently in court with them. The fools then offered him N500k compensation when they saw he was serious. He rejected it. He doesn't need the money. The case will soon reach the tabloids.
So she could not use all those billions stolen to buy a soul? Vanity upon vanity, young man continue to R.I..........whatever.
ReplyDeleteDon't be insensitive abeg. We r talking about a life here
Delete@BA Did your father give her any money to keep for you? Did you catch her stealing? Did any court convict her ? Don't go and work and make money continue blaming others for your failings
DeleteExactly, so much money yet she can't buy Life.
DeleteServes her right ojarè
Am with you on this
DeleteWhat is wrong with you. 😬
DeleteMay his soul rest in peace.
@BA, dont mind these hypocrites hiding behind their tacky buttons typing trash.
DeleteYou have said it the way it should be said.
Jasmine u bitch shut up. Is his life better than others who have died due to poor facilities in our hospital? Stella stole serious money from aviation and is guilty Like the rest of them
DeleteStella u don't know Nigeria. Anytin goes here, dat hospital will not be closed esp if d doctor is high placed. Pple die here everyday from wrong diagnosis or prescription in the national hospital Abuja and nothing has ever been done to d doctors or d hospital. D doctors here are never apologetic nor do they own up to their mistakes. They treat pple like animals and always have an arrogance dats so annoying. Dey forget dat they will die also one day. Even if u say "sue" dem, d legal system here is so messed up. Negligence is a common practice here in hospitals, d Nigerian nurses are d worst.
ReplyDeleteYou guys just go with some flat ass wacky (if not stupid) thinking of Stella.
DeleteEven if the Doctor was negligent, do they close hospital for that? In Germany, do they close hospitals because of a Doctor's negligence?
Hass GermanWings or Lufthansa been closed down because of a Pilot error that led to death of passengers.
Mental laziness is not good.
Nigerian nurse and Drs not good yet the practice all over the world, fool countinue with ur fish brain by supporting the wicked &heartless leaders they steal fund proportion to develop this country yet u are here labeling people that are working hard to save lives with empty hand without equipment CARELESS.MAY God forgive you
DeleteOh no! So sad. Rest in peace Max. May the good Lord comfort the Oduahs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad event...may his soul RIP.
ReplyDeleteI suppose he was taken to s turkish hospital because they trusted them more than Nigerian hospital but look what happened. This is another failure of our health system in Nigeria.
The quacks, they call Doctors in Nigerian. It's very very bad. Nigeria's healthcare system is nothing to be desired. O su mi people please patronise government hospital. Private hospital are terrible
ReplyDeleteD Govt Hospital that will take 24 hrs to register u, 2 days to collect blood sample, 3 days/4 days to collect result, if u'r lucky they didn't mis place it, 1 day to see Dr, @ d end the Pharmacy will not have d drugs prescribed
DeleteMchewwwwwwww
Na God dey save person abeg
Turkish hospital in Nigeria. Read well na
DeleteAnd they will meet foreign doctors in government hospitals right? Mtchew
DeleteThat's a lie my sister removed her tooth at lasuth ikeja in an hour abeg government hospital is the best
Delete@anonymous dont mind dem. D boy na drug addict. His system was filled with hard drugs and he reacted to whatever drugs dey gave him. Let them sue naw and the hospital wld open stella's yansh to d public

ReplyDeleteWhen your hands r pure and clean in this life , even mere Dogoyaro , Nzu, aki ilu , unyi, atu can cure you.. Ngwanu, British Turkey America. Mk una dey run dey go! The evil we do lives with us now, no more after... God will mk u weep and question him, in those times he will remind u, Ezenwanyi Ogbalu.. Have u been fair to other pipo using ur powers? I thot they said she is a water goddess from Ogbalu( side eyes) y ur mamiwater pipo no come help d boy? Ndo.let it b a lesson for d rest
DeleteAnon 9:25 let this be a lesson to you, this your comment can make u weep before the week runs out.
DeleteRIP
ReplyDeleteThey should investigate this cuz she has so many enemies.Maybe the doctor was paid, maybe it was a mistake
ReplyDeleteSmh
DeleteSeems you are thinking with your butt hole.
DeleteThe guy is a drug addict. Let them investigate and make the autopsy result public! Stela wont let them
DeleteThis is sad. One shouldn't blame those travelling abroad to get better treatment and services. That hospital shouldn't be allowed to operate again. Only God knows how many lives they've cut short, we only get to hear of this cos his mum is well know. Rip to him. It's well.
ReplyDeleteWho should we blame then?
DeleteMajority of 'those travelling abroad for better treatment' are those who left us in the rot we are in now.
If our hospitals are well equipped and our doctors well paid...we wont experience brain drain of any form and our hospitals will rank among the best in the World.
Same with our educational institutions.
Please blame them!
May the soul of the departed rest in peace.
DeleteShut up! What stops them from putting everything in place too back home so that everybody can benefit from the government, but hell no, they dont care about the masses.
DeleteAnd what is stella saying up there about taking the doctor4 license? Don't these mistakes happen to common ppl? How many of them have been given voices? But once na big man any bad thing strike, na so una go dey do eye service upandan. Namsense $ yes, na me talk am.
If the government abroad siphoned thier countries resources and neglected the health sector would they have any hospital to travel to? Cost of corruption in our society
DeleteSad for her.
ReplyDeleteBut this news got me thinking, how has the billions she allegedly stole helped her at her crucial moment?
#lessonforall. Everything is not about 💰
Gbogbo big girlz ,did you catch her "allegedly" stealing billions? Why can't you go and work hard and make your own money?
DeleteDid your father give her any money to keep for you?
Money ain't everything oooo ooo, there's more to being than wealth
DeleteGood question at Gbogbo.. Ndi NZUZU
DeleteAnf u think this is the time to say this? Stella was a billionaire before she even came to govt, take note.
DeleteShe sponsored the neighbor to neighbor campaign, use your imagination to figire how much that would have cost and then she wasnt even in govt
Lesson as how... Are you better than her with this stupid comment.
DeleteYou're the only person reasoning well. Thanks and God bless you for this comment.
DeleteDon't mind those hypocrites that would come ovulating here! God loves truth lovers and sayers.
Shut up Tuscany.... How did she make her money. She was Mike ahigbes girlfriend and cornered his oil company he used her to front....Stella story no be hear oh, let me leave matter
DeleteOMG RIP..so sad
ReplyDeleteLoosing a child is one realy painful experience.... May God comfort her
ReplyDeleteAmen
DeleteLike seriously? No no, Adonbilivit!
ReplyDeleteWwow...
ReplyDeleteIts only God that protects honestly cos one would think all these foreign hospitals with trained drs will be the best. How can you even remedy the death of someone entrusted in your care?
Eyaaa! May he RIP.
ReplyDeleteAs for the hospital, it won't close down.
Why will/should the hospital close down? Who closes hospitals when those paupers and poor ppl loose their family in the same manner? Are these ppl not the ones they equally run to, to give them backings and support to be able to oppress the poor? And salvage justice from being served out to them?
DeleteWrong prescription for a tooth surgery? That hospital is useless then. Even teaching hospitals can get it better than them oh. Its so sad. Then why will we now blame people if they travel out for medical checkups when a supposed trained one can't get a prescription right. See how a son just went like that. RIP young man.
ReplyDeleteYou Moron, is it not those same people you are travelling out to see that opened the hospital.
DeleteOr you think one Dr Rotimi is the owner of TURKISH hospital? Please shut the hell up, why didn't "abroad doctors save mayowa? Nonsense! Like they kept a spare life there.
@Anonynous 12:08, you gave her a well deserved response
Delete@Anonymous 12:08, that was a deserved response.
DeleteHonestly speaking, I don't know what to say. Its really sad for a mother to loose her child. RIP
ReplyDeleteRIP. May God console the mum and other loved ones. Losing a child isn't easy
ReplyDeleteRIP Chinedu. I pity Stella. Imagine losing a son at that age.
ReplyDeleteWrong drug? Na wa
R.I.P
ReplyDeleteThis is sad and disappointing
ReplyDeleteWrong prescription?
Ms Stella better make them learn in the hard way.
Just read that he died of cocaine overdose..the wrong subscription story was just a cover-up
ReplyDeleteI read that too.. Once a person dies, the blame game begins..And the Nigerian doctors are the worse hit.. smh
DeleteRip to the dead
ReplyDeleteMoney answereth all things...well, not really
drug overdose of cocaine??? truth might eventually surface.RIP to the dead.addiction in any form is a big disease and sickness.
ReplyDeleteSome people are just so vein, bitter and frustrated in life that any news can trigger off an unwarranted vile verbal outburst.
ReplyDeleteA mother lost a child, a grown up, her first child and her first son and all they can think of is money. Money can never equate a human life.
U can never receive your own blessings if you continue to wallow in so much bitterness and prejudice.
What of the bitterness you harbour against the yorubas?
DeleteLMAO @anon. You are da bomb. James the lunatic.
DeleteJames go and die u bastard. Tribalistic goat.... I am from kogi state so am not speaking for the Yorubas but your comments are always biased... If there is a story of any Igbo person u comment differently and will be silent on their crimes...sad she lost her child but other people have also suffered the same fate and will lash out at any one perceived to have defrauded the system
DeleteSo disheartening! RIP to him. May God console his family.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a pity but maybe this will teach our politicians a lesson, corruption affects all and sundry,it will find you and kill you or that loved one of yours, so dear politicians stop the embezzling and do what's right!
ReplyDeleteSo people who are righteous don't die, very stupid comment.
DeleteVery bad, terrible rip to him
ReplyDelete"Very bad, terrible rip to him"...... Really? Taylor, pls do me a favor and stop commenting on every post pls.
DeleteAhn ahn! It is not by force to comment nah.
Heeya rip..
ReplyDeleteMay his soul rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteThere's more to this than death from prescription for ordinary tooth surgery. It should be clear if this prescription is oral or injection. Thorough investigation should be carried out. RIP to the deceased.
ReplyDeleteI am confused here. Wt hospital prescribed the medication ? Ws it a Nigerian or Turkish hospital ? Folks here are commenting in d opp direction🙉
ReplyDeleteI sympathise with d Oduahs on d demise of their son.May the good Lord grant him eternal life. Amen
ReplyDeleteI sympathise with d Oduahs on d demise of their son.May the good Lord grant him eternal life. Amen
ReplyDeleteMy goodness!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad.
May God give you the strength to bear this loss ma'am.
RIP young man!
Aaahhhhhh! Wrong prescription?
When you ask most NIGERIAN doctors questions about the drugs they are giving you, they get upset.
I don't hesitate to ask ooh,and you must answer me,politely too. Inukwa! Killing dimkpa Nwoke in broad day light.
Pathetic!
Yea.
DeleteI always ask. And u Have to answer me. Most even go out of their way to broaden their "lecture"
Thankfully, most of my Doctors are good. We relate well. I am happy, they are happy.
I am known to switch Doctors the very second I feel uncomfortable. With you. With your prescription. Anything doesn't feel right,I politely excuse myself and my child.
I do my best.In the end,it's God. Always God.
May his soul rest in peace.
Stella must be in too much pain right now. God pls help her anD comfort her.
Fake nice, fake nice, fake nice.
DeleteYour vile comment is up there don't try to fool yourself down here. Goat
Exactly, the minute I'm uncomfortable with you,I ask for another doctor especially with my deliveries.
DeleteLuckily I have had really nice doctors too.
I cannot come and go and die away Biko.LOL
Iphie dearie, unfortunately this shows the kind of hospitals you visit. From the comments, I have placed you and TGW on a different social class. Two diffent classes with a wide gap apart. So you visit hosp where you don't even get a written prescription? Most standard hosp in Nigeria do.
DeleteOk,so now we know. Besides, in some cases doctors might refuse especially if it is a drug can can cause addiction. Most people just keep going OTC to get them.
Please visit hospitals that doctors write prescriptions. Take a picture of your prescriptions before you hand them over to the pharm to dispense and make sure the drug dispensed is NOT changed to a new drug they are trying to market.
Anonymous 16:57
DeleteSo when I'm about to pop my baby,I'm supposed to get my prescription snap it and check it out through my contractions or in the theatre?
I am not understanding????
I don't even have time to defend the hospital I use,who my Defence go eps
Think whatever makes you sleep better ojare 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Iphie dearie, you have your people there with you. If you can ask your doctor to give you information about the drugs you are given in Labour then what stops you from getting the prescription captured with your phone.
DeleteBesides, I haven't seen anyone that comes to the hospital to deliver a baby unaccompanied. Most of the times, the prescriptions are given to your relatives, so they can also do same. I also haven't seen a woman in labour that is asking questions about drugs...there are a few drugs women are given in labour (sometimes), except you had a condition prior labour which the drugs must have been the same you are taking during antenatal.
Any emergency that comes up that requires immediate medication will not even have you oriented in time, place and person to even ask question.
The only questions I hear in labour ward are God WHY! ALLAHUU! CHINEKE Umu Israel! I am CHOSEN! I am a winner! I will not do againooooooo, then in the next year they are back, And other tongues that will need interpretation.
May God comfort her. It is well
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad loss, 28!! Just tooth surgery. The mother must be in a terrible state right now. Regardless of whatever she has done in time past, no mother deserves this. May she find comfort.
ReplyDelete*God bless my Angel in human form*
My condolences ma'am. Really unfortunate. RIP man. God knows best.
ReplyDeleteAs for that Doctor if this was done deliberately, karma awaits you.

DeleteAmen.
DeletePlease don't put the blame on doctors only. The pharmacist that dispensed the drug should have reviewed the prescription first to know if it meets with the indication and best for the patient.. So sad we don't really practice clinical pharmacy in Nigeria .we only dispense if not the problem would have been avoided. Rest in peace
ReplyDeleteHe died of Cocaine overdose not fake/wrong medications Please.. Naija Politicians and their cover up stories; smh
ReplyDeleteAmen!!! @anonymous 11:00
ReplyDeleteMay the soul of the young man rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteAll you saying that is why they fly abroad; do you know that same mistakes happens here too?
Stella Oduah is a Nigerian Politician, what stops her and her likes to help built a reputable health system in Nigeria?
The hospital her son died in is not even a Nigerian hospital but Turkish! Majourity of Nigerians patronised anything international abandoning anything Nigerian.
I pray God give them the strength to bear their loss. A mother should not bury a child no matter what.
I heard he died of cocaine overdose..... Which one be wrong prescription again? I pray autopsy is carried out and the result made public
ReplyDeleteAnd then karma struck...I read he died of cocaine overdose. The rich should learn how to accept their faults and not try to blame someone else for their misfortunes.
ReplyDeleteMay we never know the pains of loosing a child. Why will anyone bring the money she stole into this???Cant we have empathy for each other?May God console & heal her broken heart.Rest in peace
ReplyDeleteRIP d departed one.
ReplyDeleteSo painful, take heart ma and may God grant you the fortitude to bear the loss but he looks older than the mama and the mama looks too young to be a mother of 28years old. One thing must kill a man but reckless death is too painful
ReplyDeleteThat was how I had severe allergic reaction to a medication few days after I got back to US, to think the medication was prescribed by my gynecologist, I had immediate reaction to it, nxt thing I know, I found myself at d emergency room, thank God I wasn't in Nigeria when it happened, I almost died, the doctors told me d best decision we made was to bring me to the emergency room, I couldn't get myself back till after one month, I couldn't even go to work, I just can't thank God enough for saving me
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't US doctors save Prince? BTW who killed Michael Jackson? Is it a Nigerian Doctor?
DeleteVery stupid idiot. Drug reactions are not caused by doctors, they occur just like food allergy reactions. It is unique to all individuals. People like you are used as lab rats abroad. I am sure they must have harvested your kidney for sale. BTW, Julius Agwu is back to hospital, why didn't Oyibo doctors get it right?
