Banky W Says He Can Marry A Wife Who Cannot Cook

The singer took a view different from RCCG general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who advised youths not to marry wives who cannot cook...

Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) singer, Banky W, has stated that he has no qualms about marrying a woman who cannot cook.

This is following a recent comment by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who advised youths not to marry a woman who lacks culinary skills.

According to pulseng,This was his reflection on the rampant cases of failed marriages, which he attributed to marrying for the wrong reasons.
Though an insightful observation, Banky W has expressed that he does not share the same sentiment as the spiritual leader.
According to him, due to his love for cooking, his wife does not need to bother herself about such obligations, as it comes naturally to him.

"I cook. My wife doesn't need to know how to cook. I actually enjoy it", he said.

The singer revealed this on an episode of Moments Nigeria, a programme shown on Ebony Life TV.

*Marrying a woman who cannot cook is nothing compared to marrying a man who cannot work or 'stand up'
I have been googling to see if i can find Bible passage on the exact DUTIES of a wife.....or is this a woman must cook man made?

#WifeNotCook.

  1. Some men actually don't care if their wife can cook or not.But noble igwe is over doing his own. Anyways, i feel a woman knowing how to cook is very important. Different women will just be cooking for your husband then one day he will migrate to one of them and claim he didn't know you couldn't cook before he married you. Men can't be trusted so it's best to be a good cook

That time dh would have gotten himself edible catering to cater for his tummy and na you the woman go suffer cos kids get cranky with all them sweet stuffs when not fed with proper foods. The sugar alone in the snacks will make them run you mad.

Totally true @ Anon 12: 57: coming from a background where i'm used to cooks and being married to a man who has had 1 special chef for 10 years and having two extra helping hands, i'm surprised at the level of village people here. Since these posts started, I waited for any big girl to put these locals in their place, sadly none.
I can cook cos I attended some culinary schools for fun. Can make italian dishes, baguettes and even irish meals and our local dishes. But if you're rich, you wont need to cook. #Fact. Decided not to use my ID because people are usually jealous here. They see wealth as an affront. Grow up, women.

If my rich kids can live with someone who is not as rich as they are ie someone who may not be able to provide them, with all there needs, then that person should be able to live with my kids own shortcomings be it cooking or any other thing.its a two way thing..if i can take ur shortcomings ,you should be able to take mine..wats is with all this ur programmed way of life....aint no body goin to ur grave with u,so why will i live a life dat people approve of? I do my thing how i want to...marriage has to do with a mutual understanding where both parties are mutually receptive and where one person is made to know dat he/she must do this or dat..we do what we wanna be cause we wanna and how and when we wanna and not because society says we should..to hell with wat people say

    19. And lest you forget,if you like spend ur entire life in the kitchen,a man who would cheat will still CHEAT stop washing ur head with edible catering thing...and yes some men are better cooks dan women so why shouldnt they cook...u can only tell me dat if i stay at home and do nothing...if i work just as you then we both should do every other thing together...simple...men have been selfish since the olden days with all their policies favoring them so dont come here and tell us how ur grandmum tot u shit.....she had no options, she was tot that she was worthless and all she was useful for was to bear children and do watsover a man wishes her to do..she had no choices of her own too...and men these dayz want to exercise that selfishness..buh sorry,it aint gonna happen no more

Most of them employ cook because some of these well to do guys receive elite visitors regularly and most wife cannot prepare and present food like the professional chef,my uncle was married to his late wife for 23years and in all those years they had a cook, she never for once stepped into the kitchen and they both had a peaceful home, some average guys too don't mind getting a help because some of them get put off by smell of food on their wife's hair during lovemaking.Let us pray to meet our own husband.

And please dont say, what if the money finishes. Not in your wildest dreams. Even if I get divorced, I can fend for 2 kids in high class and leave them a handsome inheritance on my own. Deal with it, life is unfair. While you labour and toil, some people live in wealth. Nope, we don't do eateries and preserved food, more of restaurants if we wish

My married sisters all have cooks, they still all cook for their husbands. The alakija woman, the richest black woman by the way, cooks for her husband. Our family friends that I know, with cooks, the wives still cook. I have relatives who hold CEO positions, they still cook. Not everyday due to the nature of their jobs, they have cooks but they find time. Mostly, the cooks assist you in the preparation and when you are too busy, have lots a visitors or you travel the cooks step in to cook fully.
It's a Nigerian thing that wives cook. Things are changing and it might be very different in the future. But for now, any Nigerian woman who doesn't cook for her husband it taking a risk.

  13. The recent culinary talk by the GO of RCCG to me is nothing spiritual.it is merely a personal opinion which in no standard is a dogma..that he is a *man of God* doesnt make his statement *uhuru*...every individual has what moves them in terms of a life partner and marriage is all about a mutual understanding where A and B compliment each other in everything, their different choices respected by one another....not being able to cook by a wife isn't a reason not to marry whom you desire, there are ways around everything..i mean if a woman can be with a man who may not be able to provide her with all her needs, then he should be able to live with some of her shortcomings and these wouldn't be a problem if both parties are mutually receptive.if you can cook fine.if you love cooking, even better, whether man or woman...and about the issue of praying for an hour,i think praying is an individual thing and you pray as the spirit leads and God answers and works in his own miraculous ways...a minute prayer will still do wonders if God is on your case.what matters is the heart with which you acknowledge your God.

    Atta boy!
You see, marrying a woman shouldn't really be all about her culinary skills.
If every man should get married to a woman that can cook, what happens to those who cannot cook?

One key to happiness and a successful marriage that people tend to overlook is BALANCE.
Finding the right balance is key.

Noble had a clear idea of what he wanted to pass across and he used the words: WifeNotCook. This is inconclusive and highly deceptive.

We can equally say:HusbandNotAtm or HusbandNotDiaperChanger or HusbandNotHandyMan.

I think I prefer Banky's explanation here,he can marry a woman that doesn't know how to cook, teach her, cook for the house or hire a cook. It means that cooking is not a criteria for marriage. This does not mean that Banky will prefer to eat out even when his wife cooks well.

The other man made it seem like he would stop his wife from cooking because she has manicured nails.

So if she loves to cook and knows how to,you will insist you want take out because you want to prove a point?

Preventing your Wifey from cooking is not a general law every man must abide to. Neither is Pastor Adeboye's opinion valid in my opinion.

Cooking is the least of female folk problems. LOL,Morning sickness and all na the koko.

Being a team at home is an unspoken thing you know,it flows...no need to wear the Tee. It feels more natural when you let events and situations dictate who cooks, when you cook and where you eat.

Knowing how to cook is good, doesn't mean your life would cease to exist if the woman can't cook, Good food can easily be gotten off the street and at an affordable rate. As for the praying aspect, its important we as humans know how to pray, not necessarily for the marriage but for the sustenance of one's life, here on earth.
If as a man you want to use these criterion to pick a spouse, then you should also be able to these.

Banky W may love to cook lije my husband but he might not do it as much when married. Men are really babies that like to be taken care of. Dont get me wrong...its a two way thing. The man also hs to pamper. There are somethings that are not in a man like home making. Even if he says she doesn't need to know how to cook,he will get tired of doin it all d time. I don't blame you, you are not exposed. That is why you keep saying this crap. Talking with ignorance on a daily basis. If you are not educated, atleast pretend to be instead of showing your ignorance on every bloody post.
Do you know the great Yoruba men with pedigree, class mixed with hard work we have in this country?
If you don't know them shut your gutter mouth and quit showing your ignorance. It's quite appalling.

    1. Why are you calling bride price selling off? No wonder your men marry multiple women since the women are cheap, nothing good comes easy, even in the bible, most of the men didn't find it easy to marry so you people should keep giving your daughters free of charge to serial womanizer.Your men are the worst men to marry in Nigeria because even the poorest Hausa man will still spend money to get a bride.nonsense.

    2. Anonymous 13:22 yes she is right it's selling off you guys are sold off to the highest bidder. That's why your men treat you like slaves. The relationship between you and your horsebands is a master servant relationship, you have no say in your home and 100% obedience is expected from you. To make matters worse you have no right of inheritance as women are regarded as properties that can only be inherited in your culture. No wonder you all send chronicles to Stella weeping about your horsebands buying properties in his name only cos you knw if anything happen to him you have no say in the matter cos you have been bought on your wedding day.

  33. Stella, abeg quit trying to score some unavailable cheap points on this matter. If you like, look for all the bible passages you know, but remember what the bible says about, a man sweating and toiling to provide for his family. And the woman going through same to bring forth a child and nurturing them.

No matter how light we try to make of this issue, food is a basic necessity to live and so cannot be taken for granted.  In a home, someone must take on that responsibility of doing that and that naturally falls on a woman. Not to say men shouldn't.  I grew up in a family of 6 girls and a boy and "WE ALL" are excellent cooks. Yes, my mum ensured that.

Married now and preggy, hubby does more of the cooking cos I feel terrible most times and that's totally fine. Asides this pregnancy, I don't have any issues making his meals and for my toddler too. Yes, it gives me joy caring for my family in that regard and as well have him help me out.

I'm not for a woman to live practically her life in the kitchen, but someone has to cook for the home, isn't it. Or do you suggest a family keeps eating out or maybe draw up a roster of how to take turns to cook or what?

I think what should be advised here is for men to take part in doing stuff in the house as often as possible. If your job is more flexible than wifey's, then by all means cook and vice versa. If none of you has a flexible job, then assist each other as much as you can. Not this message of " wife shouldn't cook". Remember that a family isn't just made up of man and woman,  but kids too, so what are we on about here. If I'm not wrong, I've read from you about loving weekends, so you could take a break from getting kids ready for school/making breakfast/packing lunch. Isn't that part of the cooking we are on about? Even in obodo oyibo, where men do these things without much fuss, it still doesn't change the fact that the bulk of this job rests on the woman.

Lastly, we are all here imitating oyibo wey no dey cook anything pass bread and meat (which is always in most cases, spiced up and all). LOL.............Almost everything is precooked and packaged, so just toss into the oven and that's it. Unfortunately,  our own style of food/cooking is different and in many ways, more technical and believe me, most men do not enjoy sweating it out like that, not becos they don't want to, but because they are not naturally inclined to. Just like we women ain't naturally inclined to taking cars to mechanic workshops and sitting all day. #myopinion.

  35. This wifenotcook nonsense though.
A woman should not be a slave to a man but culinary skills are essential. If you can cook, it's a plus for you, for your pocket. Stop justifying BS.
The whites we are trying to imitate love cooking, trying out new recipes.

  41. You people surprise me o, I am not against cooking. I love to cook but I do not want to cook everyday. I like to try out new recipes but I really will not slave in the kitchen everyday all alone for my man. I see this as a really simple issue. The solution?? . Get a cook!! That way, you can rest up on some days. Even if you must cook, at least you have some help. Everything can get prepared for you, you sashay in, do the cooking proper and be done in half an hour tops! Isn't this a no brainer? Why do women just like to suffer? And please nobody should tell me about how my husband will start sleeping with my cook.. You think I will turn to a slave in a bid to stop my husband from straying? What a laugh!
