      Sorry to differ Lucile, Stella is correct. Dedication is the presentation of the baby in the church publicly to the Lord before the congregation and the parents promising to commit themselves in raising the child in accordance with God's Will and asking for God's Blessings on the baby. Though this method was practiced under the Jewish custom.
