DeleteMy take on this is if Russell decides to take care of Future's son because of his marriage to Ciara that is his choice and business. It does not take away the fact that Ciara's son has a living father called Future and I think as long as Future is in the boy's life and also supports and takes care of him, that special word Dad, Papa or Father should be reserved for Future who is his biological father, not Russell or any other man.

Well the lil kid knows who her birth mum is but she enjoys being with me.
Babymama nearly die when she heard the lil child call me mummy...goodness. .she tried telling the baby girl to call me aunt but oh well most times in her mum's presence she still calls me mummy.even if she sees a pic of boo and myself she says that's mummy and daddy.
Well I understand how the baby mama feels but if the kid didn't enjoy my company or if I was wicked to her ..I'm sure even aunt she won't address me..

ReplyDeleteLet's look at it from the reverse point. If Future got married before Ciara did, and their son starts calling Future's wife "mum" or "momma", how do you imagine Ciara would feel? If I were in such a situation, I would feel crushed. Most parents are jealous over their kids like that. I know some women whom get uncomfortable when their daughters share a very strong bound with their aunties, the mothers' sisters. No parent wants to feel replaced, moreso by a person your ex and the society at large considers an "upgrade".
ReplyDeleteWe all have our opinions on certain issues but the most important opinions in this matter are those of both parents. If Future isn't cool with it, Ciara should try to compromise and vice versa. The little boy is a product of both of them, he shouldn't be used as a tool, rather, his wellbeing should be of utmost importance.
With due respect to Toke and at the risk of coming off as insensitive, perhaps she shouldn't be too vocal and opinionated on an issue she has no 1st hand experience in. I remember having serious disagreements with my mum over certain issues like being overprotective. She would only smile and say "wait till you become a mum, my sweet". Alas! Her words became golden when I had my angels, and guess what? I became a worse version of my mum. So now when my princess rolls her pretty little eyes at me and tells me I'm being unduly protective and "hovering", it's now my turn to use those memorable words "wait till you become a mum, my sweet".
The bond between parents and their children is better experienced than explained. I'm also aware that not all parents feel so strongly about their children. Even if you are a parent who feels your son calling his stepdad "papa" or "dad" is not a big deal, don't criticise the one who feels differently. The boy's father may be lousy with the ladies but he's good to his son. I don't think it's fair to share the title "dad" or "papa". Russell came into the boy's life by marrying his mum and not by Future rejecting his fatherly duty. If Future feels it is a big deal, then it is.
