A 26 year old fake doctor, Akilapa Johnson has been arrested by Oyo State Police command for procuring a life threatening abortion for 23 years old Barakat in Ibadan.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade disclosed this while parading Johnson along with 14 other suspects at the command’s headquaters in Eleyele, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
According to him, Barakat was lured,and counselled to abort the five month old pregnancy.
“The abortion was carried out in the suspect’s one bedroom apartment which served as clinic located in a slum at Sasa, Ibadan. Shortly after the abortion, victim developed serious complications which resulted in her being admitted at the UCH where she is presently lying ill. Investigation revealed that the fake doctor, an Ordinary level holder, was only trained as a paramedic nurse and a first aider.

“In spite of his limited knowledge of medicine, the suspect had consistently treating unsuspecting patients who mistook him for a qualified doctor. Exhibits recovered from the suspects are; two pieces of stethoscope, two pieces of plaster of Paris bandage, four pairs of hand glove, injection and syringe” he said
The suspect, Johnson, who admitted to the crime said he had his training as a paramedic nurse in Port harcourt.
“It was one Azeez that brought Barakat to my house for the abortion. It was after the pills she took that she developed the complications. I am regretting my actions now. I am only looking for a means of survival.”

Cleaners in govt hospital will even tell you that they know more than doctors because they have been working in the hosp for 10years, they will argue and you see them answering Doc.
Everyone wants to be seen as doctor yet they all claim to like their Jobs, this is the sole reason Lab scientists, pharmacists, Nurses (even without a B.Sc) are dragging who will head the medical team. If you come to a system where a Lab scientist is leading the health team, will you even as much as agree to have a surgical procedure done for you?
Our healthcare system might be bad, our doctors might not be as competent as the ones abroad but wait until these people take over the health sector, that's when Nigerians will see what a BAD condition really means. Yet if they have a headache,they look for a doctor, that same doctor they are better than but once they see an unsuspecting patient, they will claim to be a doctor.
Most hospitals in Lagos esp the suburbs are owned and run by MALE Nurses whose ego of (how can a man like me be a nurse when all these small small girls are Doctors) won't let them even know their limits. Interestingly, you all should try this. Ask or request to see the Registration of the doctor you are about to see in all these private mortuaries called hospital, you all will be shocked.
Can a bailiff lead the legal team? Or become an attorney general because he has worked in the court for 20yrs? Go get a damn JAMB form and study the course, stop looking for a way up thru d back door. Instead of a cleaner to make a comparison of himself and his fellow cleaners, he will be deluding himself with continuous comparison with a consultant. A patient entered one hospital and just asked that he wants to see a doctor, and that was how all those people pounced on her, IS it ONLY the doctor that is important in this hospital? Very very shocking!
Optometrists and Opticians are NOT medical doctors. A medical doctor that is trained as an eye specialist is an Opthalmologist.
A Radiographer is not a medical doctor, a Radiologist is a medical doctor that is trained as a specialist in Radiology. Currently,i heard that The radiographers took Radiologists to court because they don't want to work under them again. It's like a court messenger saying they now want to be working on their own and acting as legal counsel to people when they have 1/4 knowledge. All because of money and greed. Not considering the danger to patients.
Nigerians,know your rights. How can you even call someone that can't even spell his name doc,just because he went to buy 200naira stethoscope? Ask questions, once they give you an attitude,that person a Doctor or not is not fit to take care of you. That is the truth. Always demand for an evidence that you are about to see a qualified professional.
