Hmm really interesting!!!.
THIS ONE NA RE-OMUGWO STORY...INTERESTING!
Holla Stella and my beloved BVs.
I am sooo addicted to your blog Stella, keep it going. Ehen before I start, bia, ndi oxford scholars ignore my F-ups, no be everybody dey educated like una. Lol. This isn't an actual omugwo story, (I am a lazy person wen it comes to typing and my omugwo experience is kinda long) will try and send my omugwo gist in one day.
My MIL developed problems with her eyes so they had to do a quick surgery on both eyes. I had two kids then and de youngest was 5months old. MIL has no female child and my hubby was her only married son then, so I volunteered that she came over to our house so that she gets proper care. The surgery was carried out , she became temporary blind and doctors said she would start seeing from one week later.

Can you believe that MIL started seeing at 2 days later but was pretending even to her own son becos she wanted to be seeing if I would be making faces (like yimu) at her? Thank God say I been don change before that time (I was v.good at making faces, lol) so as God will have it, i noticed she was seeing and asked her and she said yes, I don dey see for days now! Hmmm, I was shocked.
One sunday as i was preparing to go to church, (hubby and I attend separate churches and we agreed about it before we did our wedding) I went into her room to keep breakfast for her, then she asked which church I was attending that day, (and not that she didn't know oo) and I told her, she 'sparked', that I want to bring separation into her family. I just said" mummy pls I am late" and left, went to knock on de toilet door to tel my Hubby i was leaving. She came out from her room and was warning me, pointing her index finger at me like I was a small child, saying "if you go to that church today I won't forgive u." I just called my hubby into our room and made him understand that his mother cannot force me to switch to their church and left.
After church service, I came back home, went into de kitchen to see Dat MIL had turned my food into the waste bin and washed my flask! She called her husband and asked him to bring food from their own house for her(she ate the food and left their flask in the sitting room so I could see it).
I was mad, but I kept my cool. Little did I know that she had called all her sons and informed them dat I slammed the door on her wen she was speaking to me that morning. I kept on receiving calls as soon as I returned. Thank God my hubby was home wen everything happened, so he kept on explaining.
When my hubby approached her about the matter, she "changed mouth" and said I walked out on her. Hubby kept begging me to endure since she will soon leave.
She got better and left after a month, though we had a good relationship but I learnt to be avoiding her. She kept telling her other sons that I wasn't a good person, etc. I didn't care bcos she never liked me, her reason being that I am from Delta (they are Igbos) and that Delta pple to open eyes, lol.
Anyway, long story short, one of my BILs recently got married to another Delta girl so we all had to travel to lagos for the wedding. My FIL and DIL traveled first and unknown to me de new wife had shown them some attitude problems, babe just takes her bath and sleeps, she doesn't cook or clean up the house(she wasn't pregnant o). MIL cooks and gives to her sef, lol. As we reach Lagos, come see as my MIL start dey appreciate me, she start to pamper me, buying me gifts, praising me, calling me a good wife, her wife, etc. She go even wan carry the other wife gossip come, I go dodge.

And yes till today we are still very close. She calls me almost everyday to ask how me and my kids are doing and hubby is now jealous. Lesson learnt; don't complain continuously about what you have at hand until you have tried several others.
I know you guys must be tired and bored by now. Don't blame me, blame SDK, she said Omugwo folder is empty! Lol.

DeleteGod pls provide mi wit a wonderful MIL.
ReplyDeleteA king is never respected in his land, thank God your mil knows your importance now.
ReplyDeleteOk, you tried. But I still don't know why DIL sees their MIL as enemy and vice versa. But in some places, they're just best of friends
ReplyDelete*Larry was here*
My best omugwo chronicles so far is that of the woman that the MIL was already troublingher that she was having a girl and unknown to her DILl was having twins ,boy and girl.
ReplyDeleteAnd the most shocking one I read so far is the woman that slapped her MIL and even denied it .
Same here for me for both storiea
DeleteI'm still in shock about the one that slapped her mother in law.. And had the guts to deny it.. To think she went into the room her mother Inlaw was and slapped her leaves my mouth open. Its not like they were having confrontation at that particular time.. But walked from her room to the mother in law room to slap her...
DeleteAnd she expects peace to be returned to her home. Her hubby won't even forget that in a long time. If care isn't taken, and if she doesn't apologise to the woman and son, she will be divorced
That's my best so far too ( the one with the twin babies)
DeleteLol. I love your story.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeleteMadam, am no judge but please try to attend your hubby's church unless they don't worship the living God. When you attend same church and listen to the same sermons, you will be able to work together, also you won't put your children through the stress of having to choose which church to attend. It is part of the submission bible talks about. Thanks
ReplyDeletePoster I would not go to a church I dont look forward to going to learn something and feel the presense of God because my husband goes there, christianity is a person race man! Just what I think. I cant just wake up, dress up and feel nothing. I need to come back feeling alive and happy.
DeleteAll this mil story dey scare me everyday... una no dey talk about fil?
ReplyDeleteJoin your husband in his church remember his the head of the family, please try not to walk out of an elderly person, they reasons why some people are still struggling Today is because of their pass life, people should try to make life easy for them for they sake of tomorrow.
