How Can I Avoid A Bad Wedding Night Brouhaha?

Hello BV'S. Please yesterday's wedding night brouhaha story really scared me. I'm a virgin and I'm getting married later this year. I'm a very private person, apart from when I was young, I don't thing anyone has seen me naked. 

Anyway, back to the issue, yesterday's poster said the wife's thing is dark compared to her pretty face. I had to pick up a mirror and check mine and 
it's dark too. Please how can I take care of down there so future 
DH won't be disappointed. I shave with new shaving stick every time. 
Is there a better way of shaving down there? What shaving cream works for you? Is it meant to be bald or have little hair? I've always wanted to ask my friend but I get ashamed bringing up this kind of topic. 
Is it meant to be dark down there and I am not light skinned?
