EFCC Removes Diezani'S Name From Jide Omokre's Money Laundering Trial Suit..

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Mondayapplied to remove Diezani Alison-Madueke, former petroleum minister, from a money laundering trial.

Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), counsel to the EFCC, the prosecution, made the application on behalf of the anti-graft agency before Binta Nyako, justice of the federal high court, Abuja.

At the arraignment of Jide Omokore — an associate of Diezani and chairman Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited and other accused persons — counsel to the defendants had argued that their clients would not take their plea when the prosecution had not shown any evidence of proof of service on Madueke and one Kolawole Akane, who were both said to be at large.

The counsel added that the former minister and Akane were charged together with Omokore, but the prosecution had failed to put them on the defence list.
Ruling on the submission, Nyako, the judge before whom the accused persons were arraigned, held that the charge brought before the court was not ripe for plea.

Following her ruling, the EFCC counsel made an oral application to remove the names Madueke and Akane from the charge sheet.
He, thereafter, asked the court to allow the accused persons to take their plea, which they did.
Omokore is facing trial for alleged money laundering to the tune of N400billion.

  8. Which one is kola wole Akane again, no more kola Aluko.
I just dey watch dese ppl, this omokore ain't going to jail anywhere. Is it not d same Nigeria where a man can steal food stuff worth 4k from supermarket to feed his family, and gets 10yrs in jail awaiting trial. And another man can steal 400b, d case gets thrown out for "lack of evidence" . Same man comes in 5yrs to seek for political appointment and wins.
Until a rich man actually goes to jail, he is stripped off all he stole, then I will believe this fight against corruption.
Bode George went to jail, came out richer and better. His wife was even made NDLEA boss.
Naija rich keep getting richer, poor keeps getter poorer. Na regular chain.

  9. James politically motivated okkkkk. What party dos Omokore belong to ? Or is he also of the Hausa tribe?
    I keep saying this thing.
If in ur street James, there lives a man that was accused of raping a girl 20yrs ago, but for whatever reason the guy was never prosecuted. Maybe d girls parents didn't press charges to protect her. But everyone knows he's a rapist.
Then another man same street, was caught red handed raping a 4yr old. Would we say bcos d other man is walking around free, we shldnt prosecute the one we caught red-handed. Is he free to go, since d oda rapist got away with it.
That Babangida, obasanjo got away with corruption, doesn't mean we shouldn't prosecute Diezani and omokore.
Do they still have the evidence/paper trail to charge Babangida with in 1985. Will they win d case without evidence. All forms of evidence wld have been destroyed.
Leave Tinubu, Amaechi and co. When PDP enters let them all witch hunt them.
Leave them to keep witch hunting each other.
They are all thieves, every last one of them. Buhari o, Jonathan o, Babangida. No difference between all of them.
I have never voted before, not affiliated to any political party, either will I ever vote.
I just need the common man on d street to be able to afford the necessities of life, food, clothing, shelter for him and his family.
Let this suffering stop. We are not even feeling it, a young boy came to me in d market asking for N50 to buy rice, a boy of like 5, I almost shed a tear, imagining him to be my son.
Stop encouraging these politicians that do not care about you, me and d next man on d street.
    Their priority is there pockets.
