Good morning SDK. Please I have questions for medical doctors in the house.
I last saw my menstruation on 23 of June that is last month. My cycle fluctuates between 27 and 25 days. Two weeks after my period I had some droppings of blood. At first I thought it was my period acting up as usual but when the blood stopped that night I knew better. Surprisingly to me, 3 weeks ago I had spotting on two days separate says, and that continued intermittently till today.
I had done two pregnancy tests which read positive. Went to doctor last two weeks for scan and he told me that he can't see anything. That I should let it reach 6 weeks.
Yesterday I had major cramp that made me almost pass out, I went to a different gynaecologist, he conducted a scan and told me he sees a sac but no baby yet, telling me to come back in 2 weeks, that he saw a fluid under the sac, but does not know the cause; then he gave me some drugs for the pain I feel.
After taking the drugs I now feel pain at different parts of my abdomen This is my third pregnancy and I never experienced any of these. Please someone help me out. I have two weeks till my next appointment, and in the mean time I am seriously freaking out.

DeleteAre u sure u weren't pregnant bfr taking d depo provera?..if nt ..den it could b as a result of an infection sinx its foul smelling.. And also d injection can cause absent menses
DeleteTake it as its sed in d prescription...it contains levonorgestrel,ethinylestradiol and ferrous fumarate...

DeleteI used dapo too for a year n six months, I didn't see my period thru out till I stopped n it took me six good months bfor my period began again. I don't know about d smell u complained about or maybe its not suitable for u..
Deletesounds like you have an ectopic pregnancy. Its very likely you will loose the pregnancy within the first 10wks. Failing that, it could be fatal to you and/or you may loose one fallopian tube

ReplyDeleteHaba! U shouldn't expect to see anything at this tym na. It's a good sign u saw a sac, did they see a fetal pole? Was the ultra sound done viginally? Try when u are like six weeks and I bet u will even see a heartbeat. Go and rest jor and stay healthy. Wishing u a lovely 9monyj as u hold ur bundle of joy soon.

ReplyDeleteStraight to the point,you either have an ectopic pregnancy or you have a threatened abortion.
If your uterus was completely empty,I would have unequivocally gone with an ectopic pregnancy .
With the increasing intensity of the pain and the fact that you almost passed out and the fact that very early abortion may not cause the amount of pain you describe here except if your pain threshold is low its hard for it to be threatened abortion.
So two possible diagnosis,
Threatened abortion (miscarriage)
Ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the Uterus)
I go with ectopic
Another doctor anonymous 12:25 thinks nothing may be wrong.
ReplyDeleteThat's a possible diagnosis too but I may go with that if she is very very pain intolerant.
Ectopics occur from 5wks - 14 wks. Commonest around six weeks.or to be more precise one to two weeks after missing her period.
Going by her periods which can be as short as 25 days, she has actually missed her period for a week coz she was supposed to see it on the 18th,19th or at most 20th .
Seeing a gynecologist almost wants me to tell you to wait for the two week appointment. Coz you really can't see anything at 4 weeks .even transvaginal USS can only delineate things well from 5 wks.
Seeing a sac in the uterus almost cancels an ectopic diagnosis except in a rare case called heterotopic pregnancy
But your amount of pain,bleeding for weeks before the pain started and the fact that you are not new with normal pregnancy signs still makes me insist you see your
Gynecologist again.
Normal pregnancy pain doesn't make people wanna pass out or freak out.even luteal cysts don't.
But doctor anonymous 12:25 suggestion is also highly possible considering ur pain threshold

DeleteIrrespective of what anyone says here, please don't sit at home waiting for two weeks appointment. Go straight to your doctor. Ectopic pregnancy can kill you. Any pain or discomfort should be directed to your doc immediately. Don't you have your gyn's number? Call him/her right away and abeg leave blog alone. This is more important than that.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking from experience cos i was once there, empty sac and no baby, with severe pains and bleeding for days but we notice when i was 9 weeks, thou i waited for the option of misscairrage naturally, my dear the day it happened i almost fainted with pains, but thank God am fine and took in ago the next month with a healthy 6 months pregnancy now, just relax and wait for six weeks cos at 4 weeks thy might not really see anything. Take heart dear i can understand the pain

ReplyDeleteThanks all. The pain stopped last night. I have not had any spotting again too. I am worried because I have seen two gyn and they all said I should wait, and come back in two weeks time. I pray all goes well, Amen.
ReplyDeletemy dear,, this ur issue happened to me too and right now am 17 weeks pregnant with an active baby boy... i was spotting from the moment i was supposed to see my period to week 9...den it stopped it got to a point i was always cramping and even saw red blood dah i almost gave up on d pregnancy and wore sanitary towel to bed but dnt see anytyn.. sweetie ur baby is in u.. by the tym u go bk u wd see d fetal pole and heartbeat... just belive like i did... baby dust to u
DeleteTell your doctor to screen you for ectopic pregnancy.... request for a vaginal scan.
