Ambassadorial Nominees Fail To Recite National Anthem, Pledge

Can you recite the National pledge?

Drama trailed the screening of ambassadorial nominees in Abuja on Tuesday, as some designates failed to recite the national anthem and national pledge.
Specifically, while a nominee from Anambra State, Vivian Okeke, missed the last stanza of the National Anthem, another envoy from Niger State, Ibrahim Isa, failed to recite the National Pledge properly, even as a nominee from Benue State, Jane Ndem, told the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs that the capital of Lagos is Lagos.
Instead of singing “Peace and unity” in the last line of the first stanza, Okeke, who is among the 47 ambassadorial nominees, sang “Peace and integrity” instead.

Also, Isa, currently serving in Turkey, failed to recite the National pledge when asked to do so by the chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Monsurat Sunmonu.

Rather than say: “… Her honour and glory” in the last but one line of the pledge, he said: “Her honour and integrity.”
However, it took the intervention of a member of the committee, James Manager, who corrected the nominees.

They get to the countries and they cant even help their citizens in need. When they cant even recite their countries anthem and pledge.
I hope this will cost them these positions they seek.

Arise o compatriots, Nigeria's call obey! To serve our father land, with love and strength and faith, the Labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain, to serve with heart and might, one nation bound in freedom with peace and unity.

O God of creation, direct our noble cause, guide our leaders right, help our youth the truth to know. In love and honesty to grow and living just and true, great lofty heights attain, to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign!

Wow! Can't believe I just typed all that.
Maybe Stella should ask us for the Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba versions.

  30. I don't remember the full national pledge, but when we go for events in England where we have to sing the national anthem, the words are printed a sheet and placed on our seats before we arrive, or simply put on the screen. I must say for a long time I didn't hear the anthem because we never sang it in secondary school, A levels or at university.

  31. Disgraceful act. Nobody should say; who Nigeria National Anthem helped?
In other countries, before you are made a citizen; you are to recite the country's national anthem and swear allegiance to the country. A friend of mine failed Citizenship interview all because she couldn't recite the country's national anthem.
So, is very important you know how to recite it, especially when you are holding a political position.
They should be automatically disqualified, shame on them too.
