Good to know.
ReplyDeleteStella she's lecturing your olori.
DeleteThis is from that olori of a woman.
DeleteWord
ReplyDeleteI stand for Chimamanda's own
ReplyDeleteSomeone should educate the oba's wife....
ReplyDeleteOlori have suffered, chai!
ReplyDeleteYes she suffer well.
DeleteThat her speech was very disgraceful. Who send am msg? She's not even eloquent at all. Slurred up her speech and ended up making a fuckery of the whole thing. Smh
DeleteI agree with everything she said but the truth will always remain, their is nothing like gender equality in marriage. Their can never be and will never be.
ReplyDeleteThat's why some women are having trouble today, learn from Olori.
DeleteGender equality is not about marriage. The government or law does not regulate roles in marriages that's for you to decide .The only man the Bible says a woman should submit to is her husband not her male collegues, classmate e.t.c just because they are men. Do you know many landlords do not rent home to single women , many divorced women have a hard time getting a place to rent. How will women leave abusive marriages when society will discrimate against them? Do you know that parts of the SE women are not allowed to inherit their father's property! What makes my brothers difference from me that they should get to cheat me? Those are the kind of things gender equality addresses
DeleteDe bible says the wife is a helper, how come de husband dumps all the responsibility on de person that came into ur life to help.
DeleteZitel coconut... Hahaha you dey vex o
DeleteGender equity is not gender roles they are too differ things.
DeleteStella, why are you so envious of certain women??? Smh!
ReplyDeleteI support gender equality in its totality and not how some feminists see it.
ReplyDeleteThey only scream gender equality when it serves them and tell you to "be a man" when it doesn't.
This to me is hypocrisy and it's the reason why many men do not take them seriously
May be indirectly telling @OLORI wura
ReplyDeleteBecause I don't know what she is on about again
@Galore
Galore, Olori wasn't talking about this BILL! She has no knowledge of what this bill* is about! She was more of women roles/struggling power with men! She used the word Gender equality WITHOUT bill in it! (didn't watch her vid though; else she used bill there)
DeleteIf u want to crucify her for being uninformed, go ahead! But she didn't sound like someone against the bill in its entirety* if she truly understood it...
Women are misinterpreting this bill and it is so wrong; that's why men don't want it! Nonetheless; I understand why they are misinterpreting it cos men (naija ones mostly) don too show women shege for this life! Creating GOOD reasonable boundaries will go a long way in making women happy!
Galore or whatever your name is, I can see that your life has much taste of sadness in it...you don't have to affect people around you with your own negatively. If you feel your data isn't worth anything to you, go online, open your YouTube app and watch 'how to cure depression'. Above all I wish you a happy weekend!
Delete@ My opinion, you typed my thoughts on this matter. This is a clear case of the olori not using the appropriate term(gender roles). People should go easy on the abuses! Slut shaming her doesn't portray the gender equality message being preached...
DeleteIt is not about a bill. Gender equality as an ideology has been in existences decades before a bill was conceived for the Nigerian state. Check Millenium development goals, sustainable development goals etc...so whether the Olori mentioned the bill or not is irrelevant in the context of gender equality as a social development goal
DeleteWomen should also insist on sharing the money for the upkeep of the home equally with their horsebands.
ReplyDeleteWomen should also insist on equal representation on the combat field in the military.
ReplyDeleteDon't talk stupid. In these economic times and even before now, a lot of women are already supporting their homes financially 100% while still continuing their responsibility of having children and running the home. The women have shifted but a lot of men remain in this selfish place and keep looking for all to run down giving women equal opportunity
DeleteIgnorance. Women are in the battlefield
DeleteJames...I'm with you! You want equality, it should transcend across all spheres.
DeleteAnonymous 18:17...biko what are the stats of this your fallacy? Are you expecting the man to also carry pregnancy? Chauvinistic idiot
Anonymous 18:18...bedroom and domestic violence doesn't count as battlefield, you moron! Combat support is completely different from direct combat
I feel bad for the Oonis wife because she clearly doesn't understand what gender equality means...thumbs up Uche
ReplyDeleteGender equality seems confusing to everyone however I go with uches explanation. I strongly believe women should be given right to education, jobs equal wages etc but at the same time know their limit and not be disrespectful to men!!
DeleteI don't understand all these noise about gender equality. The truth is that men and women can not be the same but both must be respected. #Simple.
ReplyDeleteWhat you just said is what gender equality is! Of course women and men are not the same! That is NOT gender equality at all oo!
DeleteGender Equality is simply saying that we are all different but we deserve the same things! So example, in some places as a woman, you work hard but you are paid less than the men you work with simply because you are a woman. This is an example of what we are fighting as gender activists. Its about equal value, not equal functions!
God bless you, a Anon. It is the value not our functions
Delete@James women already pay half the bills I fact many women are the breadwinners only they pretend in public becausof Nigerian mens egos
ReplyDeleteI am one of those. I pay all the bills. It doesn't make me feel like I have a penis, it only makes me feel like a human being who is succeeding at life and have equal value with everybody else.
DeleteTomorrow people will be thinking Olori is using juju to get these men, Learn from her. Women be submissive to your men and men love your wives so says the bible and the family will know peace. A lot of men and women are single today because of this issue. Take it or leave it.
ReplyDeleteNgozi
Ngozi go and find ur husband. Walking up and down forming career woman. Who go marry ur smelling character. Uju
DeleteShe is getting the men and constantly leaving the relationships! Please listen to yourself!
DeleteMust de ladies be married to live a fulfilled life
DeleteMadam Ngozi, refrain from talking trash! A lot of married couples live like equals and have very happy homes! Always using Bible as an excuse to trample on women! Doesn't your bible say in Ephesians 5: 21 that husband and wife should submit to each other? The bible supports gender equality in Galatians 3: 28. Open your Bible and read before you talk trash. Shiiiiiioooooorrr!
DeleteDon't mind the mumu who marriage help? After three husbands she's now am example to follow right? Learn from Olori ko learn from wura ni
DeleteCoconut seller don't marry in Africa n see shege
DeleteOnitsha lady, is this what u tell urself to feel ok...better tell urself the truth
DeleteLook at that unclemarve comment😐
ReplyDeleteLol i swear i learn today from her page. No be small debate there,we, some Nigerian women still no understand yes some people need to speak more.
ReplyDeleteThe issue of gender equality in the Western world was raised because women didn't have the right to vote and most were receiving lesser salary than their male counterpart even with the same level of experience and qualifications.
ReplyDeleteIn Nigeria though, women never had problem with voting, but some had problems with receiving lesser salary and being assigned to some departments because it was seen as a woman's job. E.g: Secretarial and clerk jobs.
I will like to state here that Nigeria is even more ahead of the Western countries that some Nigerians look up to. For example, Nigeria women has been well known to be bosses of their own. Nigeria women were successful fashion designer, Hair stylists, they were very good with sales and still are.
So, the issues of some women forfeiting their education for their brothers mostly happens in the villages not in the city, and in my thirty something years on Earth i never saw one except in the movies. Back then in Nigeria, i knew more women who received bigger salaries than men.
Please we should all thread with caution for most women who see or call themselves feminist doesn't even know what they are demanding for.
I will never call myself a feminist, but i have done more works for women than these celebrity/invisible feministas.
I started fighting for women empowerment at a teenage age of 13 in the mid nineties, i went to schools, hospitals, churches and so on to enlighten girls on the importance of education and abstinence. I still believe women should be empowered and be useful to themselves and the society at large, but we all have a role in this world. Men are men, women are women.
As Christ believer i still see a man as the head and the woman the neck, the head can't function without the neck, neither can the neck move without the head. I fight and stand for equity.
I totally concure
DeleteWell, this lecturing is needed cos Olori Wura of Ife said in a public speaking in US that she's not a fan of gender equality. Her explanation was too narrow clearly showing that she didn't fully understand what the topic was about. Anyways, her opinion doesn't change anything.
ReplyDeleteEven for SDK blog here people still dont understand what uche is saying? The Queen speech writer should be able to know the difference between gender equality and gender roles
ReplyDeleteMeaning according what i have learnt today on uche IG ( this issue must be serious for her heart i swear she reply reach 4people) the difference is right of equal pay, right of a wife not to worry herself to death because she has only daughters (in most places like where uche is from i hear they can't inherit nothing, the right for people not to say things like you work hard like a man ( they say that as a compliment lol) the right to every thing listed on this post and yet understand my roles as a woman. Equality is basic humam right simple. Signed uche jombo abi na jumbo new fan from today.
Stella you sound dumb sometimes you know. Very unprofessional with and making careless statements.
ReplyDeleteI really do not feel sorry for the Olori! How on earth will such a woman talk on such sensitive topic without doing a proper research! This has in indeed shown the world her level of IQ
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like Gender equality....
ReplyDeleteGender equality are the cry of lazy women.
What do they need gender equality for when men and women are guided by the same constitution, same laws etc.
Do the women has different law that restrict them from doing what men are doing..
Women are CEOs, Presidents, Captain of industries, billionaires, army and all.
But the truth is that women and men can't be the same, because they have different body structures which limit to what they can do.
In marriage, men and women have different roles, that doesn't mean they are not equal, men have the role of providing for the family, while the women are to take care of the home, they can assist themselves when the need arises...
It's just like a football team, each player has his role but u can assist in the other role when the need arises, a defender can score a goal and a striker can help defend....
that doesn't mean a striker is more than the goal keeper... they are team mates and that's how marriage should be seen.
But untimely, we cannot all share same opinion, we can't all Belong to the same school of taught....
As far as you are a human being, you have the same right as everyone, maybe man or woman, feminist should go get another struggle!
Equality on all the sweet things of life , but when things are hard they push the man forward. Good education and good jobs, and great treatments for our women I say yes to that. But been equal? Not even in God's sight we are not.
ReplyDeleteI stand for those women in Ford Dagenham Machinists that stood for what they believed in.
ReplyDeleteThey wanted equal pay...and they sure did get it. The bill was passed.
If you are a lady working and you kick against gender equality, maybe you can return half of your money to the firm you work in or read up on how that full pay came about!!!
They worked hard like the men, they were called "unskilled" and paid less.
I believe in the gender equality that identifies the strength of women.
An uneducated,un-informed woman in the village can still be disrespectful to her husband...Disrespect does not have anything to do with Gender Equality or education. A good woman, irrespective of her rights can still be good.
Why won't I want my daughter to own properties? Why should my sons have them all?
Why can't my daughter have same educational exposure like her brothers?
Why can't my son cook and give the sisters? These are the questions that beg for answers.
Worse things happen in rural areas because women are regarded as "animals".
I stand for gender equality.
I have never known different from this, if anyone is against these things Uche listed up there.... problem dey!
Chop kiss😘
DeleteKiss kiss@Anon
Delete*Ford,Dagengam Machinists
I as a person stand for a man/woman relationship, where each complements another and not a boss/slave relationship. Its no longer a mans world biko
ReplyDeleteThank you Uche JUMBO and thank you Stella
ReplyDeleteGet some free education online
Your data is not only for gossip
Nigerians are so obsessed with marriage and relationship
that they cannot understand what the movement is all about
They must make it about marriage and bedroom roles
Not seeing the bigger picture that benefits the society
The raped children, the widows, the married children
The mutilated women and so on
You think its about you and that miserable boyfriend you depend on for pennies and validation?
Get over yourself
Gender equality is the least of our problem in Nigeria right now. Even if a bill is passed on that how do u ladies think its gonna work out.what's that bill gonna change for the average girl in the grassroots. We like to deceive ourselves in this country. I think we shld focus more on other things like eradicating illiteracy first
ReplyDeleteHow can illiteracy be eradicated, if there's no gender equality?
DeleteAt times, we should think with our boxes opened rather than closed aka reasoning!.
How do you expect all to be literates, when one gender is downsized?
You made a valid point, but the truth is to eradicate illiteracy, we first have to tackle gender equality!

We need to stop deceiving ourselves. Really how many ladies here have been told u cant do this or that cos u are female? Only things I know I probably ve been told I can't do growing up are things considered a man's job like washing the car or chopping wood or anything that might require some muscle n of course I dont wanna do all those things anyway I will rather be in the kitchen cooking than outdoors cutting grass and burning them that's for my brothers to do and I will rather be carrying the bucket of water in than being the one hurling it up from the well. In fact men shld be d one complaining I think.
ReplyDeleteOlori, you see yourself? When others were in class in Uniben you were running upandown looking for runs so tay you no finish school. You have no knowledge of the topic you chose to speak on. Sorry for the confusion.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a gender equality woman in a happy relationship. It is always those frustrated gwegwes or divorces that champion it to lure other unsuspecting women to their misery. Of course misery needs company. The foolish ones will bite the bait.
ReplyDeleteWomen! Always pulling each other down. The Okoli and Uche Jumbo are clearly not saying the same thing. Uche Jumbo needs to know the difference between EQUALITY and EQUITY! See how she quickly jumped in on social media to diss a fellow woman. Men and Women can never be equal but Women needs better EQUITY from men. Period!
ReplyDeleteSee this idiot! I'm sure in your mind you're feeling quite smart kwakwakwakwakwa
DeleteAbeg Google is your friend, ejor Educate your mind for the sake of your generation unborn
She schooled her not diss her everything olori said was under gender roles the problem is she presented as gender equality which is the problem. I wouldn't even bother with your EQUITY because i never drink wetin you be dey drink type am. If as we are in 2016 a mother of 3or 4 daughters after losing her husband can not guarantee she will be able to send her children to school because she no born boy wey go carry the family name or a woman who will risk a 5th pregnancy to try for boy only to die maybe i go just talk the wey go just leave him wife because na only girls she dey born .that my dear means girls worth less than boys for the man head which is where equality comes in...it has nothing to do with what or how you carry on your marriage .. i am happy someone 'jump' on this schooling because na you need am pass. Hissss
