This memo should be looked into before the matter gets out of hand please!
''Hi Stella, something crazy is going on in one of the town under osun state. It's a place called ipetumodu, it's a 15min drive to Ile ife . Our school is situated at the roundabout of ipetumodu (Oduduwa university Ile ife) that's why most of the students who stay off campus rent their various houses in that town coz it's closer to school. My story is very long so please pardon my write up and please read
The town has a deadline till 11pm for anyone to move about and after 11pm their hunters come out and check from street to street to guard the town.
Anyone seen after 11pm would be beaten mercilessly. But there is partiality in what they do, they beat the students more and leave their indigenes. They even go to the extent of going about student houses to check those that forget to lock their main door.
2years ago, they broke into my room around 1am and asked everyone in the building to come out, their reason is because we didnt lock our main door but what really happened was that the door got spoilt and we had not repaired the door yet so we had to just close it to be repaired the next morning, note that it was the main door but the individual rooms were locked.
We were packed outside and they had us carry big stones and start hawking. We started shouting "ewa ra bread oo, ewa ra akara, ewa ra moimoi' "come and buy bread, akara, moimoi" and they will beat whoever doesn't shout on top of his or her voice. After then we begged them and they insisted that we had to pay for the bullet they shot in the air. We contributed the money among ourselves then gave them money, then we were released even after the punishment already given to us and if we ddnt give them money they will beat us and still lie against us that we were planning to harbour thieves and that was why we left our doors open.
Stella that was 2years ago and that was the only experience I had with them but that's the way they've been doing till now.
So last week, they caught some students coming in around past 11 and they were beaten mercilessly and later released, some of the students then went to the kabiesi (king) of ipetumodu to report what their hunters have been doing, beating students up and down, going to student houses to pack those that smoke India hemp and bring them to the main road to beat them like they are thieves and passersby watching them.
The students then told the king everything, I really don't know what happened at the palace but that was what sprung up war between the hunters and the students which involved the ipetumodu OPC also.
They claimed some students went to one of the hunters barbing shop to destroy his shop. Note that all these hunters have day jobs, some are barbers, electricians, plumbers, mechanics but most of them are okada riders and they laugh and play with the students during the day but covers their faces and turn terrors at night.
So I think they recognised that particular barber who is a hunter hence destroyed his shop. Yesterday, they started going from student house to student house looking for the culprit but since they couldn't find the culprit they decided to take it all out on all the students living in their town. Now there's a new curfew time for student which is 8pm and indigenes can still stay till 10pm or whatsoever.
We actually taught it was a joke until when we heard some students were beating mercilessly yesterday around past 8 for going out to buy something.
They even beat any indigenes that take sides with the student and now they kept on shouting that the students are the robbers that's been stealing in that town. What do they have in their houses that student wants to steal?
Do they keep diamonds in there? I don't get.
In my own opinion I think it's the other way round, the indigenes are the thieves coz they have come to rob at my friends house before and I was there, laptops and phones were stolen, mine included. And those thieves didnt come with masks, they didnt cover their faces. how on earth would a student want to steal and won't cover his face?.
Now we students has been labelled as thieves and now they are at war with us beating any student they see from past 8pm.
Please Stella help us ooo so that the govt can come to our aid ooo, now we've been banned from switching on the generator through out the night coz they said we are thieves that's where we get money to fuel the generator every time.
For crying out loud, we are in a private university, most students here are from rich homes, and they barely have light in this village, there's been no light for 2weeks now and even if they bring the light it's only during the day and that's like for an hour or 2. They don't leave the light through the night.. the town is better now because of the students living there, now their one room apartment which used to be 7k is now 35k and some 40k, self contained is now 120k - 150k, students are the only reason why the town is a bit civilized now.
The population of the whole town before is not even up to my street in lagos. Wtf is wrong with these people Stella?
Please we are tired, the government of Osun state needs to do something before a student gets killed with all they are doing oooo.
Thank you''.
Crisis everywhere
ReplyDeleteInstead of taking laws into their hands, why didn't the students report to the school authorities and law enforcement agencies
Delete@Aragbesola is a very useless Governor
ReplyDelete@Galore
I don't understand how some people can be so backward in this Internet age. And them go dey make mouth on. SMH
ReplyDeleteSo funny @ "ewa ra bread oo, ewa ra akara, ewa ra moimoi' Biko ontop wetin? But why Oduduwa University inside Osun State. Gov Aregbosola please act fast.
ReplyDeleteHail oduduwa university..... well, have been dia b4. They treat student there like goats, but I think ADEDOYIN should be the one to go meet the palace chief and settle with them.
ReplyDeleteI thought the school is a private university o, what is your school management doing abt it?
ReplyDeleteHmmm . It is well oo. The town people sef. Guess they are jealous of the students as the students would be living larger than them . For now just try to obey and not fall into their trap.
ReplyDeleteYou guys should be very careful in your movememnt so that what happen'd in Aluu PH won't repeat itself in Osun. Aregbe should do something before it's too late.
ReplyDeleteUna no go strike when Ooni dey around. You students should stop this wahala you all are causing. Una ooni go soon return
ReplyDeleteNa wa...o some communities sha! I think the school authority should come to your aid.
DeleteSo the students reported the maltreatment to the Kabiesi king. And instead of finding a lasting solution to the issue, the students curfew was moved from 11 to 8pm. Now that's unjust and barbaric. The king is supposed to be fair and a father to all the residents and not just his town or language people. This issue needs urgent state or FG intervention.
ReplyDeleteBut the vigilante guys should commended for their zero tolerance to Indian hemp smokers. Those miscreants masquerading as students are potential Cultists and armed robbers.

ReplyDeleteMy dear when writing to a public forum pls refrain from using the F word. Since you are a student i will assume you 21 years or younger. No matter how angry you are , especially when stating facts or pleading your case, the F word even abbreviated is a no no.
ReplyDeleteWell said
Delete@Galore
If my child uses dt word or any swear word, he will be needing a cosmetic dental surgeon. You want to report such serious issues and you are using the F word.
DeleteAnd for you the indigenes maltreating other people's children just because they came to school in your town, I pray your children will continue to be okada riders, barbers and labourers and village thugs.
Na wa
ReplyDeleteThe management of your schl should take this up
So that what happened in Aluu(uniport) won't repeat itself
it is well
My take on this matter is that if your parents send you to school, please face your study and stop partying unto the dead of the night. The town in question is my hometown and my elderly parents have been robbed twice by these so called students. Imagine waking up an 80 year old man with gun on his head in the middle of the night. The town resorted to use vigilante to curb the incessant robbery by these student. After two years of these robbery my parents still have pronlems sleeping from nightmare given by these students. If you cany abide by the rules of the town please go back to your lagos. Ipetumodu is a quiet and serene town, dont bring the madness of whereva you are coming from. 11pm isnt too early for a responsible student to be indoor. Please take to training; you will need it later in life when you're married.
ReplyDeleteA rejoinder from a proud ipetumodu indigene.
And they had placards showing they are students. So your village people don't rob and there were no thieves in your village before the school was constructed. People like you should just remain in your hole of a village. Very soon now you will start killing innocent children labeling them thieves like they did in portharcourt. Wicked people.

Reminds me of Offa poly during the crisis period.
ReplyDeleteSoo backward in thr way of life, served in that state and can attest dat aregbe is d most confused indigene of dat state. Abeg my dear be kiaful so u don't fall victim.. Rmba d ALUU boys hv been long forgotten and thr issue buried.
ReplyDeleteTwitter lovers, Can someone pls drop a message for the Ooni and his wife to address this issue.
ReplyDeleteEheh! My mothers hometown, and they are generally nice people o,dis so called hunters are probably frustrated guys, pls apetumodu look into it,he his very nice too, even though I always tell them ipetumou people that they are bush people, but honestly they are good.pls everyone take it easy.
ReplyDeleteThe students should face their studies. Why are they doing outside after 11pm?
ReplyDeleteThe should respect their hosts. What is it with this poster talking about the increase in rent and how they brought development to the town? They did not force any of you to come their place . If you cannot face ur stupid, if you prefer smoking Indian hemp, parting all night and engaging in social vices like robbery, you should return to your parents house. Bcos you lack proper home training.
I don't think you know how ipetu indigene behaves...we can't blame student because OUI is not the first private school that students smoke and party, they should reconsider their judgment instead of this they are doing... I so miss my OUI.... when the vigilante deal with you then you will know the villagers need thorough beating
DeleteThis is another Offa saga approaching, the government should look into it before they start killing innocent people.
ReplyDeleteLols funny indigenes, let them try this kind shit in a state university in the east, make all these cult bois declare them wanted.
ReplyDeleteThey will become refugees in their town, cos the number of people that will be gunned down, will be alarming.
I aint supporting cultism sha, osun state government should step in and solve the issue
