    1. What pple don't understand is that Nigeria has gotten so bad politically, economically n all d allys(Lolz) that we need a high handed disciplined man to sanitize her. Yes,pple will get hurt n toes would be stepped on but its d right thn to do. As for Bruce, he wlkdnt be in ds mess of his hard labour dwindling in front of him if he had paid his dues. D attitude of "what wld anyone do" has eaten deep into Apple's lives that no one cares. We are all feeling like its a witch hunt cos its d opposition in power. If only pple know how bad thns re for some pple, then we wld shed a tear. Some pple dint eat to bed n don't know what to eat when its almost tym for lunch for some. We re here cos we hv more than enuf that we can still recharge n buy data. Hmmm, too long. Ds is my opinion. U don't hv to agree.

This man was prolly hiding under the previous administration to suppress or avoid paying his loan. But with the new administration everyone is holding tight to the integrity of their companies.

    8. Haba now. Let's try to criticize objectively. He took out an 11bn Naira loan and has defaulted on his payment but should have been ignored? Why? These same banks won't grant loans to the masses without some cutthroat conditions yet people like him go scot free? That's totally unfair.

      Delete
    9. Anon everything you said is right but union bank didn't fold up. Amcon paid off the loan, and gave Ben Bruce time to pay but he still defaulted..

Now he is paying the price.. At least that's what their statement said

    1. Please, can someone refer me to the old post, i mean the beginning of this drama, because with what i read here means that Alcon insured Ben Bruce and he Ben at the other hand refused to pay Alcon according to their agreement. I hope it's a written agreement, and he, Ben Bruce didn't go according to that, then he has nobody to blame. Business's business, an agreement's agreement.
He might not be the only one owning, but others might be servicing their own loan according to the agreement. If you take a loan, you must to be servicing it, or your witness/insurance company must be servicing it pending on your agreement with your insurance company.
If Alcon paid the money to ensure that Ben did not loss his property, then they aren't faulty seizing his property. They should try and sort it out.
      Nigerians and unserviced gbese.

    2. Now i get the story, he refused to pay AMCON, that means AMCON acted as insurance to Ben Bruce.
      Anyway, they'll settle it.
Sorry for the typo., where i wrote AMCON as Alcon.

    3. It is AMCON - Asset Managememt Commision (Abi Na corporation) of Nigeria.
When a financial institution loans money to someone and the person doesnt want to pay back. They file a case to AMCON and they take it up. Ben is PDP and they've been in power since 1999 until now. She he took things for granted. Remember he was friends with STELLA Obj before she passed on. Childhood friends sef (Abebe). Then GEJ became VP and President. So the bayelsa connects were thick. That's why he was doing anyhow. If they want to seize his assets, Na order them to receive from Aso Rock say make hem cease fire.
But now, the covering has been removed. So AMCON can now do their job in this period of everyone fighting corruption.
It's not about him challenging anyone, he should have cleared his tracks before bringing himself out.

Where is Amaechi, Where is Tinubu and other APC leaders in the former administration? No single Northerner has been fingered, questioned or probed. Are they SAINTS? 2. Hey this has nothing to do with Buhari and all to do with Ben Bruce. He was granted a loan and didn't pay back to the point that Union bank almost closed. If the bank had closed do you know how many hardworking pretty would have lost their jobs? All because of Ben Bruce. AMCON decided to step in and paid Union bank the 11 billion. So Ben has been owing AMCON and has refused to service his loans. He has been sent a number of warnings I'm sure but chose not to pay. In business you can take loans, that loan isn't free or dash, you are meant to pay back. So is it better to allow Ben bruce go scot free when he endangered the livelihood of all those workers at union bank? I don't think so. We as nigerians have to do away with this mentality of us supporting our oppressors. Not everything is a witch hunt. If he had paid AMCON 5 years ago, no one would have come for him today.

    3. @mama wonder I am surprised that despite having a banking experience, U still support a bad debtor on the premise of witch hunting,U knw that bad debt is cancerous to the well being of a bank.

  18. Adadioramma and others like you, don't leave your brains at home before coming on Stella's blog to make comments. What has Buhari got to do with this? Didn't you see the Court order pasted on the building? Ben Bruce took a loan from Union Bank and was unable to repay. Union Bank was distressed and AMCON bought it in line with the objectives by which it was set up. AMCON reserves the right to take over properties used as security for any defaulting loan having gone through the normal court process.

  25. Adadioranma, you are very wrong! Most of the so called big men in Nigeria, have been living off the sweat and commonwealth of the Nigerian masses, either through direct stealing from government revenue, or inflated and uncompleted contracts or unpaid bank loans (which are sometimes written off with the connivance of the bank officials). How can an insignificant few be stealing and appropriating the vast resources and blessings of God upon our country? However the time is up for all of them - thank God for Buhari. They will fight back but God shall put them to shame. What a country!

  29. Some fools will blame the president for this. Hatred will kill u people. This guy collected money from bank without paying is buhari responsible for that? He owe Union bank N11B and the loan was sold to AMCON years back. Its only normal that the collateral for a loan be foreclosed when a debtor refuse to pay. His kind of person are the reason bank are sacking their staff. They will collect billions from banks without paying yet they wil be living large. Its no longer business as usual again!!!

  30. People talk without reason, is the president the owner of the bank he collected loan? ls he the owner of AMCON?

Its a new dawn and no longer business as usual. It was Jimoh Ibrahim , now Ben bruce. More are still coming. This loan was taken over by AMCON since 2011 from Union Bank. He has refuse to pay and no one could touch him cos the system was corrupt. This are one the people who killed Union Bank and made thousand of people to loose their job. AMCON bailed out the bank and now they will recover the collateral to get their money back.

  34. Sometimes I wonder if it's lack of education or poverty that makes Nigerians think the way they do. So it's now ok for Ben Bruce to owe a bank and not get slammed?! If he had been servicing his loans there would be nothing to hold him for. Obviously he must have felt he was still powerful, not realising times have changed. Idiot sitting on twitter day in day out instead of doing the needfull. God must judge all of them one by one. At least Buhari no kuku get business with AMCON.

  35. This very rich people don't like servicing their loans. I don't know why. A poor man approaches the bank for loan and he isn't attended to, he would be told stories even though he has the collateral and every document needed. They rather give this rich men that end up owing them for years. Some don't even pay back at all..

And you need to see the way they chase this rich men around to come take loans from them. Went to visit my husband's uncle and the bank managers that called him that day or even came around to the house was something else. He even told one on the phone that he is yet to clear up the one he took, so why is he disturbing him with another loan. And the manager said he isn't a problem, they know he will pay blah blah blah..

Ben Bruce go and pay your loans. Go and reach and agreement with AMCON. I'm sure they will agree to restructure payment as long as you pay a huge amount of money first..

Don't let workers loose their jobs because of this

If that huge amount of money was borrowed from Nigeria treasury, then He Mr. common sense is an hypocrite. Pride comes before the fall.

  42. Nigeria, the country where you take out loans to start/expand a business with no intention to pay back. This isn't witch hunting. AMCON had to use taxpayers' funds to prevent Union Bank from going under. Ben Bruce and co took out loans they could no longer service from Union Bank. Perhaps we should seek to know why the loan turned bad in the first place rather than politicising the issue at hand.

Wouldn't you rather have our banks give out loans to small businesses that will actually pay back other than some big men whose credentials are the network of people they have as friends.

I'll leave the conversation on debt restructuring for another day.

    Mschewwww.
