I just discovered that my Kids can speak other Languages apart from English and German and Pidgin..*Including waffy Pidgin*
Yesterday i heard them interchanging and making comments in Yoruba,Igbo and Isoko and deep Pigdin and they Understood what they were saying to each other....
One said ''ogini bu ifa...''
The other one replied ''hian, kini gbogbo eleyi, abeg no ask me na..''
I FAINTED !!!
And if you call me and they discover you are Waffy, they salute ''Migwor or digwor'' over the phone and even ask ''how e go be nau''
I learn Languages easily and i guess they picked it up....I am so proud ..so so proud!!!.#proudMama
Does anyone have Bilingual or polyglot kids here?
Please oh polyglot means speaking more than three Languages oh,before una go think say na cuss oh..LOL.
I have been sitting down all day,off to do some reality stuff and will be back to enable comments......*wink*

DeleteLol@ how e go be nau.
My children speaks English!,..
ReplyDeleteThey understands Igbo but can't speak perfectly!...
**Child "speaks" or Children "speak" **
Delete**they "understand" or he "understands"**
DeleteSame with my son. He speaks English. Understands very little igbo. I'm trying to speak more igbo to him so he can understand better. Then we can move to him speaking it. I'd love for him to learn French too
DeleteMy children speak english.
DeleteThey understand Igbo. Phew!
Rotflmao @ the corrections. Y'all must be frustrated.
DeleteThis girl will not kill somebody with her grammer.
You people are among those killing Igbo language and very soon our language will go into extinction. Kuziere Umu unu Igbo, unu echezina na isu Igbo ga eme ka ha yara isozi na ihe ana eme. Igbo is our identity, you people should teach them how to speak, stop teaching them those local English you speak thinking it will make them belong. Burunu ezigbo nwafor igbo.
DeleteSo Queen of the coat,u have kids? And u will be behaving like one tout with no soul or mercy. Animal.
DeleteStella you lied that your children speaks Igbo and yaraba!...
ReplyDeleteAbeg make I drop!...if I hear!...
**children "speak"**

ReplyDeleteLmao. This is hillarious, wondering how it will sound in their mouth.
ReplyDeleteStella i'm got-poly. Yimu*
Stella, please I will love to hv Oyibo kids too ooooh. Can you hook me up with any of your beautiful German female friends. I don't mind relocating.
ReplyDeleteSo you will use them as passport to leave this country and your wretched life behind Abi?
DeleteTrinity , are you kidding me?

U still even get mouth to talk.

James I should marry u oh😒 u are gonna be one hilarious man😂
DeleteFor where? My son does not even know how to speak pidgin English sef, not to talk of igbo language. I really wish I could teach him, me sef I'm not fluent in igbo language, my hubby don try to teach me tire.
ReplyDeleteWe have one in my family. She's just 18 and she knows how to speak 4 languages.
DeleteI only speak yoruba and hausa not fluently though. I can't even speak my own dialect or my mum's own.
I pray make to marry a man that learns language fast.
I hate it when igbo people can't speak their own language. It's annoying. That's only area I see Yoruba people are better than us
DeleteI pray to*
DeleteHausas and yorubas can NEVER struggle to speak their language no matter how highly educated and widely travelled. But ndi igbo? Make the person just leave village to highest Lagos and return, no more igbo speaking.
DeleteBy the way Stelz ur kids re smart. Fluent in hausa, english n my mother tongue igbo. Understands yoruba, a little of Tv.
Trinity and Rosblis, you know this.
DeleteI have an Igbo friend, who before I met, didn't know how to speak Igbo, and wasn't bothered. The thing vexed me so much that I started teasing him at every opportunity, till he made me teach him.
Though I think he's not keen on languages because he went to uni in Russia, but can hardly speak a smattering of Russian.
That's a little understandable, but not when you don't know how to speak your OWN language.
I think it's only in Igbo land that some people think it's local to be caught speaking Igbo.
Can remember a BV here saying that she'll not allow her children to speak Igbo...lol!
Ndi be anyi, ekele m unu o.
Very soon, na torchlight we go use dey find Igbo language.

ReplyDeleteI speak more than 3 languages and hopefully when I have kids they would be like me...Stella I know that feeling of pride when you hear them speak our Naija languages despite being far from Africa
I'm a polyglot .
DeleteI speak Igbo, pidgin, Yoruba , Hausa....
Call me a local polyglot.
Lol@ local polyglot..abegi polyglot na polyglot no local or international
DeleteFrench or Spanish? Which one should I learn please
ReplyDeleteLearn Spanish. That language is very appealing to the ears. At least, to mine.
DeleteThough French is easier to learn.
Or, you learn both. :D
#WhiteDiamondOut
Learn french please... it sounds sexy to the ears
DeleteOfficially...for career upgrade. French. You get job interviews faster. You also make cool cash being a partime translator or instructor.
DeleteBusiness wise...Spanish. The whole Latino countries speak Spanish and you can enter and mingle in too many places. French is limited.
Hahaaaaaaaa, good for them so that people will not insult them with another language
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteWow i love this
ReplyDeleteI am also a polyglot. I speak English, yoruba, hausa, French and little arabic.
ReplyDeleteI was very good in Arabic in Junior secondary school o. Was even the best in my class.
DeleteI don't even know nada again
I'm fluent in just three languages.
ReplyDeleteThen apart from those, took an interest in Spanish a while ago, and wasn't consistent with it. Just a few sentences here and there.
French ; same thing. Learnt that one in college.
I know very few words in German especially the cuss words eg: dummkopf...hehehe. Stellz, teach me na. * side eyes *
As for Yoruba, being on this blog is enough for you to know a little, as long as you have someone to translate it.
Who wan teach me Hausa o? Another Nigerian language I love.
#WhiteDiamondOut
3languages???
DeleteWow!
When I'm struggling with just two dialects.
I even had my friend teach me Hausa at a point, for where?

Personally I speak Ibo, Yoruba, English and Swedish fluently and a little bit of French and Danish. My 9 years old speaks Swedsih, English fluently and a little bit of Yoruba and Ibo.
ReplyDeleteAnd this post just reminded me of Bisi Olatilo.....
ReplyDeleteYep he effortlessly switches at will into different languages. That's his major selling point, same as late Mr Ndaguba.
DeleteYes Bisi Olatilo how I wish I can be like that. My mom is a ployglot.
DeleteYes o. I run on 6 languages(English, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, French, Spanish) now trying to make German the 7th but it is harrrrrrrd.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing is when in a social gathering we switch to a foreign language especially to pass orders about conduct and security leaving people around to their imaginations.
DH is on 8 and he can speak to you at anytime with any. The schools make it easy and at home they watch many of the cable TV stations and films in foreign language.
Rien de tel que parler la langue d'un autre homme non?
#teampolyglot
Bien sûr! Je parle Igbo, pidgin, un peu d'allemand, espagnol, yoruba, italien et d'haoussa, aussi que l'anglais, couranment.
DeleteI can greet in a few African and European languages too.
Eh... moi aussi. Ah bon! On est beaucoup ici :D je parle l'Allemand le neerlandais et Un peu d'espagnol. Biensur l'anglais, pidgin et l'igbo. CA fais 6.5 langues hahaha
DeleteTrinity, please leave James alone . No be he send you to go open Toto and hang leg for Window and receive preek skin to skin from an irresponsible man.
ReplyDeleteI know your parents are regretting having you bcos you hv brought disgrace to the entire family. An igbo girl having child in his father's house is a shameful thing through out igbo land.

ReplyDeleteI guess d letter dat d brother wrote his sister, na James write am.
That's the same way Trinity's parents, siblings and relations are feeling about her right now. A feeling of disappointment and disgrace.
I don't know about other tribes, but the reality is that an igbo girl having a child in her father's house is seen as an odium and act of ignominy.
Madam?? Trinity, in your next try to be responsible. Stop spreading legs and opening Toto for irresponsible men to gbensh without condom.
Na advice I advise you ooo. I will not wish d daughter of my worst enemy to have a child in his father's house.
And dat's d truth.
