Omugwo Chronicles -16

Beautiful Omugwo Story...Having two Mothers is so cool!

Stella great Job you are doing and thanks for this Platform.
Most Times when I read the Omugwo chronicles I smile and at the same time Bless God for my MIL and mum also.
I got married in 2010 to a first son. A first look at my MIL all you see is a strict/disciplined woman but settle down with her you will know she is very sweet
.
I had my first baby in 2011 infact she was the next person I informed after I confirmed I was pregnant. She was my guardian, nutritionist, midwife, prayer partner ,gist partner etc.

As my EDD drew closer my hubby asked who I would like to come first ,mind you MIL works in a government hospital as a Midwife while my mum does her own business so you can say my mum has the whole time to stay but before he could finish I answered ''your mummy''.

I called my MIL and told her ''mummy please take your leave and come'' she asked ‘kilode’ I smiled and said ''I want to have you around when your leave finishes then my mum can come''.

Mind you this is the first grandchild for both parents. You need to see MIL when she arrived she came with everything, foodstuff including indomie sef…lol.

The shocking part is that despite the fact that we are both working she will always come with money just in case. Everywhere full eeh. As if the baby knew a day after she came labor started , Thank God she was around I didnt even know I was in labor. We drove to the hospital and as God will have it I was booked for a CS ,MIL was with me all the way…prayer finish for heaven.

She will give me my drugs and injections herself, bath me, took care of the baby. We were discharged after 4days, unfortunately baby had jaundice again and my Surgery cut was seriously infected. My bed became my theatre, my MIL took care of everything. I will say ''mummy let's go to the hospital '' she will reply ''you just want to go and waste money it what’s they will do to you am helping at no cost''…

Awwww, she is amazing believe me.

While she is around we will cook together, gist and laugh together, advice me on marriage, pray together, even cry together when she’s giving me gist of how she suffered with her 4 children. At night she will carry the baby so I can sleep.

I just love her and aside God she’s my marriage pillar.

My Mum came 2days before she left with another set of foodstuffs and she explained and guarded her how to clean my cut till it was fully healed. She will call almost every hour, the feeling is always like she should just appear in PHC.

Time to have my second baby in 2014 she spoke to me as a mother would to her daughter ''Please go for an elective CS don’t go through labor and still have CS''.

We agreed on a date and she as usual took her leave but unfortunately my baby arrived 2days before her arrival (normal labor then CS eventually), The very next day my MIL appeared in PHC ( 9hours journey) straight to the hospital. According to her she could not sleep the previous day her spirit, soul and body was in PHC…lol.

She again came with all she could gather even feeling bad that the baby came weeks before my EDD and as such she could not stock as much as she would have loved to. My mum again came days before she left again with plenty goodies and toys.

I remember my mum will always ask ''you are always excited when your MIL is coming instead of me'' I always replied ''Mum you are my mummy I know but this women treats me like her daughter and am so loving it infact you won’t do some things she does to me,okay can you give me injection''…..we would all laugh.

I don’t joke with my MIL ooo, I pray God keeps her till very old age. I love you mama Segun till infinity and I love my mum too, very strong woman too.

I Am a blessed daughter and daughter in-law....

*Nice story,i almost imagined your MIL cooking Jollof rice for me..hehehehee

  29. This is what I hoped for especially because I have known my MIL since I was six (we were family friends first). I asked her to come first and my mum after but she didn't. After 3 days of no sleep, my mum had to come and stay . My MIL never bath my daughter as a new born; always coming late morning after my mum would have finished. I just thank God for my mum and sister for their help. After some time, my mum taught me how to bath the baby because God forbid anything happens and I am now prepared to do this when I have another. I know my mum will be around to help by God's grace.

  32. My mother in law is better than my mum. We quarrel and make up almost immediately. My mum thinks everything bad about my husband. She hates my husband for no reason and I hate her back for that. When my mother in law died, I had to hire people to come and help out with "omugwo" because my mum won't come. She soils our name so much with the help of my wicked younger brother who insults me and even fight me before I got marred that sometimes, I imagine whether she prefers me unmarried because I now work after training myself with money that I made from teaching at lesson centers.

She can frame anything bad against me and my husband and tell it to the whole world. I am just maintaining my calm and leaving everything to God. I have asked God to repay everyone of us according to our deeds and He is answering the prayers. I have not stopped helping them in the little way I can. They want me to steal in my place of work to give them so that I lose my work, but no force can make me to go out of my way to please someone. My watchword is, "do unto others as you would want them do unto you". Now I look back and give my mother in law 97% and my mother3%.
